Buying my WDW tix tonight and I noticed a site has 5day tix for the price of a 4day. However we want a 6day pass. I remember last time we were able to add days when we were there, and it ended up being a deal if we did so AFTER we had use the tickets once. Is this still the case, can you add days and is it the most cost affective way to go or should I just buy the 6 day pass....
The difference to buy the 6 day now is only about $15 more.....

Thanks!

Yes, buying the 5 day tickets and upgrading after you get there will save you more money. But, remember, you will only be able to make FP+ reservations for the number of days you have on your ticket. Therefore, you won't be able to make your 6th day FP+ reservations until you upgrade.

For this reason, I would just buy the 6 day now. Why stress out about getting the FPs you want? That is, unless you really have no idea what you'll be doing that 6th day and hesitate to make plans. Sometimes it is nice to just wing it and do whatever you feel like at the time. In that case I'd wait to buy.

Thanks guys for your input. So how much will I really save by adding a day for 1 adult and 2 child tickets?

To see what your savings would be, compare the price of a 5 day ticket between Disneyworld.com and the website you're buying from. That's pretty much what you're saving. When you look at Disney's prices, be sure to take it all the way up to the point they ask for cc info so it shows all taxes.
Then compare what Disney charges between a 5 day ticket and a 6 day ticket. That's the amount you should expect to pay at the gate. Again, be sure it includes all taxes. Disney tends to leave that out of the early pricing pages.

The reason you should use a ticket at least once is to lock in your savings from the website you bought from. If you take an unused ticket to the gate and upgrade to a 6 day, they will credit you what you actually paid for the ticket, then charge you full gate price for a 6 day ticket. No savings at all.

How much are you saving on the ticket? That savings is what you get; the difference between what you pay now and the fat price for what you're buying. The upgrade will cost you the difference in gate price, so the only money you save is on the initial purchase.

Yep it still works...but Disneys way of handling this is to assure that you can only make fp+ for the # of days you buy upfront..... I bought a 5 day, and the upgraded to a 10 day.... it was a good deal, but I could only make fp+ for 5 days.

Ended up just going with the 6 day and then bought a 3 day for my mom (and will upgrade hers to a 4) since shes not coming for the whole trip.
