I can't believe we are doing this! DH and I decided to drive down to WDW for a couple of days before Christmas so we can see the decorations for the first time! Our twin DDs are going to be so surprised!

Now, we have never been to Florida in December. What should be expect weather wise? Do we need sweaters or T-shirts?

Will the girls be able to swim in the pool? We are staying at the Pop Century! It looks so cute! I can't wait to see it.

Will we need coats? Jackets? I do hope the girls can swim, but can't imagine it in December (of course, we are from Indiana).

We will be at WDW all day on Dec. 22 and until around 3:00 on Dec. 23. I saw that MK is open late on Dec. 22 so I think we will try to 'close the park' that night! I am SO excited!

We went last Christmas..and are going again this Christmas. Disney at Christmas is AWESOME!! Weather wise it was never too hot, most the time you'll be fine with a sweatshirt. Yes you can swim in the pools, atleast we did last year, as long as you dont mind it being slightly chilly. The best part of being there for the holidays is the decorations..all of the xmas trees, and wreaths, its my favorite time to be at WDW. Questions? PM me.

KittieKat--
We also are planning a trip Christmas week, at WL!! Can't wait!! Guess my primary concern is, are there longer waits for transportation during this time. We have a car reserved but wonder if we need it. Christmas day we start out at MK and go to EPCOT for the CP and dinner. Would it be better to have a car to get around? Thanks for your opinion! Cherie

it probably wouldnt hurt to have a car..we never use one. We drive down in the RV and stay at fort wilderness. Yes, there are longer lines for transportation at WDW. Because it is one of the most crowded times of the year, so lets say instead of waiting for one bus to come, you might have to wait for two. It all depends on the time of day. You might not have to wait very long at all, depends on how lucky you are. :) The only time the lines are excessive is right after the park closes..but other than that its not too unbearable. You'll get used to waiting in long lines, it'll be nothing compared to the line for Space Mountain.

:bounce:

We've already decided that going this time of year we'll have to have a differnt mindset about lines or even bothering with them. Just going and being in the holiday atmosphere!! Thanks for your advice!

The weather was a little chilly in the evening, but nice during the day when we went on Christmas. I'm not sure what will be worse, waiting for the bus transportation, or waiting in your car in the traffic jam to get into the parks and then waiting to get on the tram. You might ask a CM at the hotel. I think on Christmas Day, you might be better with the park transportation. They seem more likely to turn away guests who arrive by car.

From the National Weather Authority,

To all visitors to Lake Buena Vista, FL area for December 19-26, 2003. The NWA long range forecast is predicting unseasonably low temperatures for the month of December culminating in some of the coldest weather ever recorded in the state of Florida. Our current forecast maps are showing high temperatures in the low teens from around December 15 all the way through December 27. We also see a high probability of freezing precipitation during this period. Forecasts of 2-3 inches of ice followed by 4-6 inches of snow in an area bordered by I-4 on the south and east highway 545 on the west and extending 10 miles north of highway 192. Residents of this area should prepare for a week without power, water, and transportation. If you are planning a visit to the Lake Buena Vista area for the effected time period you might want to reconsider.

Be afraid, Be very afraid.

Stay home,

(not really)

cworld: is that for real? Can you please post the link where you got it?

Yes it's a joke. Just trying to get the parks to myself.

Oh My! You got me! I thought it was for real! Wasn't going to stop me from coming, but it did put a damper on my excitement for awhile.

OK, I'm back and excited now! NO MORE JOKES LIKE THAT :sunny: My heart can't take it!!!

We'll be at WDW during Christmas for our honeymoon, and we can't wait! Even if it's super crowded.. well, it's still better than a day at work! :sunny:
