WDW Snow White Closing...Which Attraction at DL would you be upset if they closed it

I'm ok with it because I look at it this way.

SWSA is not for little kids, it's scary, it's for big kids 6-10yo. Now the 6-10yo and older are getting a better attraction that's more worthy for thier likes.

But what bothers me very much is what happens to the SWSA space. They are shutting down a part of Fantasyland that is filled with classic rides in exchange for a M&G. They are exporting a FL ride.

But this is basic DL Vs MK. DL revamped thier Fantasyland in the 80's and MK just let thiers remain until they replaced what was there and left the old circus tent themeing on the facades. This happened until just months ago when they fixed up the pooh attraction that is housed there. Keep in mind that's only one of their FL attractions that is superbly themed on the outside.

I could TOTALLY do without the M&G since I do the character meals. :)

It's easier to name the ones that I wouldn't be upset about:

Haha so true  :thumbsup2

I love Haunted Mansion, always have, always will. I guess I'd be MOST sad if Haunted Mansion was removed. But I don't think there's any chance of it going away (other than the possibility of it becoming the Haunted Mansion Holiday permanently :sad2:  ) (definitely hope not)

I don't have a lot of nostalgia for Fantasyland, but I do very much understand it. So I have to say that NOTHING in Fantasyland should ever be removed.
Fantasyland is a very special place where parents take their kids so they can dream, those dreams become memories, and those memories become nostalgia. Removing any ride from Fantasyland will be like crushing someone's dream.

Now, for what I wouldn't miss... a lot of the stuff in Frontierland (shooting range, Billy Hill, the restaurants) I love Big Thunder Mountain RR, but Frontierland is the most boring and most overlooked land, imo.

I also wouldn't miss Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. Everyone now seems to go to Toy Story Midway Mania... which is more fun and TSMM doesn't take what seems to be the worst photo of yourself ever (unlike BLAB).

Maybe Innoventions. I would actually like it to stay, but it needs some MUCH cooler technology and electronics.

I'm not even gonna go into DCA, the only thing they should keep is Soarin, ToT, CA Screamin, WoC, and Hyperion Theater (but is it time for a new musical? I think so.)

I would agree with you if there wasn't a (assumed better) new Snow White ride being built in the new section of Fantasyland. Under the original plan a huge area of the forrest section would be taken up with meet and greets and now that space is going to have the Snow White ride which fits better in that section theme-wise. Pooh with it's new tree-themed queue will also be part of this section and will be right across from the new ride. The princess meet and greets will now be on the edge of the castle section and all of the other rides in that section will be across the courtyard from it. I would prefer not to have the meet and greets at all and to have just had a new dark ride but I understand how popular they are. At least in this case the new set up works better with the themes of the different sections of Fantasyland and it gives easy access to the princesses for those wanting to do meet and greets.

I would not mind seeing Innovations close, talk about a waste of space. Captain EO can go too AFAIAC. I love Toontown, but it doesn't need to be that big.

Seconded. I went to Innovations for the first time last October. It seemed completely pointless; a bona fide waste of prime space. I say tear it down and put in two or three dark rides. What about something like Mr Sheen's Wild Ride? ;-).

Seriously: what about a futuristic princess ride for the kids? Sleeping Beauty's dream adventure? Jack's Beanstalk Jaunt? Anything other than a trip through a very uninspiring vision of the house of tomorrow.

......IMO, lots of rides at DL are "classic", but i agree with you that the fantasyland dark rides are absolutely sacred gound....

These little dark rides aren't the most popular & are rarely anyone's "favorite" ride.....but they're an important component of what makes Walt's park special. Heck....I sometimes just like standing in FL for a few minutes in the afternoon & watch the families with little ones jumping from ride to ride, starting their own traditions.

I sure hope my kid has a chance to take HIS kid to ride Toady, Alice, Pinocchio AND Snowy in 2030. :thumbsup2

I agree DL's Fantasyland is sacred ground. Its Walt's park, and FL is the heart of it, to me. My first visit to WDW was as an adult, after growing up with DL. I found their FL to be pretty disappointing :sad1:

Alice, Casey Jr, et al, may not be the most exciting or advanced attractions but there is alot to be gained by preserving history for future generations. You can add on to the park elsewhere without ripping out the family classics.

The suburb where I live has preserved the old Main Street section of Old Town, I am so happy someone had the foresight to do this before it became the popular thing to do. My kids can enjoy a cherry coke at the same soda fountain that their great-grandparents did. Priceless. If you want to visit the new exciting malls, you can do that too, but it doesnt have to take away from the old fashioned fun of the other.

I'm a sucker for nostalgia :upsidedow

I would seriously cry if they ever removed Peter Pan. It is my fav (and my first visit was at 13!)

I hope they never change or get rid of The Enchanted Tiki Room. Talk about sacred ground! Anyway, I can't stand the new version in Disneyworld!

I just read the WDW thread & am amazed at the number of folks who are OK with Snow White shutting down. (But nice to see half of them are really upset). I think the one's posting over there who are upset should consider visiting Walt's park sometime....they'd geek out on the classics at DL. & I also agree 100% with your post over there Mike.

IMO, lots of rides at DL are "classic", but i agree with you that the fantasyland dark rides are absolutely sacred gound. I bet half of the WDW posters would give their eye teeth to have Alice, Toady, Pinocchio & now add SW to that list.

Toss in our lovely IASW, the unique Storybookland & Casey's & i realize how lucky we are that they've let things be at DL.

Well said Hound:thumbsup2

I am a WDW vet, that has in the last four (4) years become quite a regular to DLR. I love the fact that DL is Walt's park, and the history there. Seeing the attractions as they originally were, is just one part of why I love DL so much.

I remember being heartbroken when 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea left WDW. It was the first ride I remember getting on when WDW first opened. I felt like I was part of Sea Hunt (going way back isn't it?).;) It was always my favorite ride. So many things have changed at WDW, and I truly enjoy seeing the originals at DL. Just like the PP's mentioned, you guys have the Enchanted Tiki Room, IASW, Pirates, and Mr. Toad's Wild Road. Mr. Toad's was also one of my favorites. Although, I love these attractions at WDW (except Toady), I still miss the classics. Don't get me wrong, WDW is still tied for #1 on my list of favorite places. IMO, some things should stay intact no matter what. It is just a part of what makes Disney so magical.:wizard: I am going to miss Snow White. As for me, as long as they don't close Mr. Toad's at DL, everything will be alright. I still cannot wait to get on this one everytime I go.:woohoo:

I'd be really disappointed if they closed the Peoplemover, The Country Bear Jamboree, the Skybuckets, the stage show at the Fantasyland Theatre, the Mike Finn Keel Boats, the Disney Gallery above Pirates of the Caribbean, The Main Street Electrical Parade..oh, wait a minute...never mind...

We can hope that we get our parade back. The others RIP.

AGREED!!:thumbsup2 (well, except for the keel boats. I'm afraid I don't remember them.)

I tend to hate it when they change anything! There are too many for me to name. I really wouldn't miss Winnie the Pooh at all, and the Autopia does tend to lose it's appeal once you can drive for real.

POTC is one of the classics and one of my faves, but not as much since they changed it. I don't mind Jack Sparrow being added, but I wish they wouldn't have changed sooo much. I miss the dark and creepy 'Perhaps ye knows too much. . .' cave. At least they didn't put an animatronic Orlando Bloom in there! I like the movies (LOVE the first one, the other 2, meh.) but the ride was just fine as it was. pirate:

umm i would be super upset if pinnochio was taken out. i just love that ride!

I would miss Mr. Toad, Peter Pan, Snow White, Alice, Tea cups. Wouldn't miss Dumbo or Toon Town. I like most of the rides at DL - Innovations - great the first time...after that...not so much...miss the people movers....

Love that the Monorail actually goes inside the park - nice ride when you just need to get off your feet.

All time favs - besides the FL ride minus Dumbo...all the mountains, Haunted House, Pirates of the Carribean....

Can't wait to try out Tower of Terror in June...in 2003 it was under construction so we didn't get to ride it.
