This is the part that so few people today even consider.

They go to WDW and have a great time with no problems. They bring covid home with them, infect Grandma, and she dies.

Then they complain about the government not doing enough to combat this dreadful pandemic.

Wearing a mask doesn’t necessarily protect you. It’s for the people around you. If they’re not decent enough to wear one, why would you want to risk being around them?

I didn't say anything about masks -- but if they're ignoring the danger to Grandma, I don't want to be around them at WDW or anywhere else.

More important, I think beyond the tip of my nose, so I'm not putting myself in any situation where I might bring something unwanted home to loved ones.

Yeah. I'm in IL and we already had our spike and honestly it was fine. People were out and about with precautions the whole time. We were closed down for so long and it really made no difference. It had to run it's course.
Same here in NOLA.

I am waiting for them to announce a delayed opening. I have a trip scheduled for August. More time that passes, the More I think it’s not going to happen. I’m coming from NY. We already been down this road, and having large gatherings is so irresponsible right now. I don’t get why Florida doesn’t shut it down!! Cases will rise and hospitals will be overwhelmed...have they learned nothing from NY?! I don’t get it.

But not everyone has the potential to bring it home to gma who might die. Ppl like to pass judgment on what others do b/c they apply their own circumstances to the general situation. We will go & follow guidelines & not visit anyone vulnerable or elderly when we return.

Two weekends ago we went to Dollywood and we felt quite safe, as we observed all of the care being taken. Tables, all we used were outside, were being cleaned. The steam train was at less than 1/3 capacity and was cleaned between runs. Masks were required, and a host kept at telling a person that it needed to be on. People listened.

Masks were not required when eating, drinking, on thrill rides, or if you were in one of the “no mask” zones. Outside of Dollywood, Pigeon Forge was not like that.

We traveled from NJ, through, DE, MD, VA and finally TN. With the spikes happening now, I am glad we went when we did. I don’t think I would even go back to Dollywood now. In MD, VA and TN coming home, we noticed more in restrooms without masks. Perhaps the states had gone to a different phase. However, in TN there were never many folks in masks outside of Dollywood.

I am personally getting tired of all of the grandma stuff. Nobody - nobody - wants to get COVID or give COVID to anyone. What we have are millions of people who have been and continue going to work who have just as many concerns, old family members, and reasons just as much as the next person. But if that person is necessary for you to have electricity, water, deliveries or food then screw them and give an empty “thank you” and then trash them when they might want to do something besides work.

Have said several times, not planning on going anytime soon unless there is: 1) A proven medical treatment for severe cases. 2) a proven vaccine. 3) We have tested positive for Covid antibodies, even if that only means a short term immunity as that would show our bodies can fight it off.

This is even though sitting on Universal AP's and a lot of vacation time.. agree it's tempting when see low crowds, but not going to gamble on my or especially my son's life for a theme park.

Be nice if the whole country would get behind masks and social distancing instead of complaining about them, and could get things open with reasonable precautions.

This isn't meant as attack, but I'm honestly curious to understand peoples' thought process. If you've been down this path and you know it's dangerous, why aren't you cancelling your trip on your own?

I will, I was hopefully but as I said the more time that passes the more danger I see in going. I’m kinda waiting for them to do it for me. It’s not a loss for me to wait

Yes, I know what you mean. We had to cancel a trip to South Africa this past May. We were unable to get a refund for the land potion of our trip, so we pushed it out as far as we possibly could, which right now is August of 2021. But, unless there's a vaccine that has been widely tested by then, there is no way I'd get on a 15 hour flight to South African. No way. Even if we lost every expensive penny of this bucket list trip....no way.

Also, we have two weddings that still have not been cancelled by the hosts this fall. One in September, and one in October. I don't care if our Governor tells us..."it's all good....weddings with 200+ people are good to go!" There's no way we'd go.

And there's no way I'd go to Disney World right now. If you're flying, the "mask rule"...is kind of joke. They're still running full service in first/business class, and in coach, people can take off their masks to eat and drink. I get it..."duh..you can't eat or drink with a mask on". Correct, you can not. But you can be an asymptomatic spreader and when you talk and breath...be spreading that virus around the cabin. Same for Disney....you're safest outside with our mask on in the oppressive heat. Inside, in the restaurants....not so much. To me, it's far too risky.

I see some on these boards that are itching to cruise. That's risky for a lot of reasons. For one, the virus will rip through those ships like wildfire. We're not far enough along with respect to therapies for any cruise ship to leave the ports of the U.S. Unless maybe you send out a group of 20-somethings....maybe name it the Disney Asymptomatic?

Though not a huge sample size, I find the distribution to be very interesting. Two-thirds is the same proportion of families and teachers that do not want a full-time school schedule as before (opting for either a hybrid or completely distant learning, instead). This is from a couple of the local school districts near me that sent out survey results. I wonder if that’s also a similar proportion of how people feel about the situation in general.

I agree.

And a survey done in our district is the opposite. Most staff & parents want in-person instruction only.

That is interesting - In our school district (Long Beach Unified in CA), 2/3 of High School parents and kids (they sent individual surveys to each kid and each parent) wanted FULL TIME in person teaching in the Fall. 25% did not want ANY in person teaching. It was consistent across both parents and kids. The remainder wanted a hybrid. FWIW - remote learning was a near complete failure. Our 1st grader is in private Catholic school and the LA Archdiocese has already announced they ARE going back, and their remote learning was about as good as it could be. Still, REALLY glad they are going back!

Agree, but there is a big difference between people taking vacations to WDW and CMs who work at WDW and need the work/income from their jobs.

People who need to work to put food on the table obviously need to work, and hopefully will employ sensible precautions. People who are taking vacations are a completely different category.

CM’s do not have a job without guests. Disney is not immune from running out of money. Eventually, they will run out of money just like everyone else.

I had an end of August trip that I just cancelled and rebooked for end of November. Wishful thinking that things will be better by then. I couldn't wrap my head around travelling to Florida with the rise in Corona virus cases so high. And... I'm Canadian... our border is closed to the US right now, so it isn't even possible. That reopening of the border keeps getting pushed back a month at a time continually. I don't see it opening up before August if the trend keeps going the way it has been. I really hope that the USA gets control of the spread soon, and the numbers come down. I want to be able to visit my American friends.
