Ok. I have to give you a little backround first. I am an UBERPLANNER (so are you most likely or you wouldn't be reading this!) However this Oct. our annual family trip to WDW is branching out to another 2 families. In all there will be I think 12 of us (10 adults plus my DS9 ad DD2) We are going to be celebrating 1.My MIL's BFF's anniversary (OCT 26th) 2. Same BFF's B-day (Oct. 28th) and My Anniversary(NOV.1) we'll be staying at the Mariotte suites(sp) the 26th-2nd.

Now in my perfect world everyone would relinquish all control of their vacay to ME and I would plan every meal, park and activity. But this is unlikely. It took me 4 months to get them to all committ to a MNSSHP date (we're going in 1920's style gangsters and flappers so if you'll be there on the 28th keep an eye out for us!)
This will be the first WDW trip for I think at least 3 of our guests. I wanted to do something fun that would unite us all during the trip but that didn't neccessarily have to be arranged for all of us to be together. I'm sure that there will be times when we are all at the pool or all have dinner together but I wanted it to be something to enhance our trip.

I have downloaded every available disney word search and crossword puzzle I could find along w/ planning to make a few of my own w/ special things about our trip, like all of the special celebrations and our names and stuff like that and some Disney trivia.

I would like to put together a scavenger hunt for everyone (I've already started working on a kids version so my soncan participate) I'd like for it to include stuff that can be picked up for free around WDW- not neccessarily just the parks but maybe a matchbook from the lounge at the contemporary or you know stuff like that. Also, we all have digital cameras so I thought making it a partial photo scavenger hunt would be fun as well.

I thought I would hand out all of the information the first day, since we are not all going to the parks together, or are we? I DON'T FLIPPIN' KNOW cause noone will talk about plans- they just keep saying we'l figure it out when we get there. Which is NOT how I roll!! Then having them turn them in at the end of the vacation and having a prize for the couple who completed the most tasks....

What do you all think? It'll make me feel better and I think it will be really fun. I need suggestions for items/ pictures to gather for the hunt.
Any suggestions?

what an amazing idea....

I really like the idea of using the digital cameras because then you could put things on the list but they wouldn't all have to be tangible things to bring back....

I would love to think on this for a while for some ideas, but off the top of my head

a clue to lead them to that little fountain to the side of the castle where if you bend down just right you can see a crown on cinderellas head (know where I mean) or the other side find cinderella wishing well

find the marker that marks the center of EPCOT

find a hidden mickey

get a signature from a certain character - you pick one....

have them find a certain animal on the tree of life at AK

a smashed penny of a certain thing - again you decide

picture of a turkey leg?

picture of the Mr. Potato head parts in MGM store

photo of the dapper dan singers in MK

picture of the mosaic wall in MK where the steps sister is "green with envy"

photo of a "dole whip"

photo of a CM from a certain state (you know how it says on their badge where they are from)

a picture from the front of the monorail (up with the driver)

photo of the water parade (from Poly of Grand floridian etc)

I don't know...is that what you were thinking?

What a fun idea! If you make the items suitable as scrapbook mementos, that would be great as well!

I would consider assigning a points value to each item, and the prize goes to the person with the most points. That way you can offer "bonus points" and harder to find/see/do tasks can be worth more.

For example make a picture with an autograph from one character worth say 3 points, but each additional autograph and/or photo with a character is worth 1 bonus point. You can include notebooks and pens from the dollar store in their "kit". Finding some out of the way or hidden place (as the previous poster mentioned), or getting the answer to little known trivia question could be worth major points.

Other items could be a fast pass from a specific ride, pictures of the couple/family in front of a specific place in each park (Cinderella's Castle, Tree of Life, etc.), a printed napkin, matchbook, or swizzel stick from any resort or restaurant.

Have a blast! You're really creative!

That is EXACTLY what I had in mind. Keep 'em comin'!!! I like the idea of actually scoring them!! I just thought that this would be something that not only could they do on their own but would want to do w/out the others and still bring us together a bit.

Thanks for the ideas. I LOVE IT!!!

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of some of the tasks being finding answers to questions, as it might add to each person's overall experience of WDW.

"How many "welcome" signs in different languages are there when entering IASW?"
"What year did Epcot open?"
"Name the official Disney Princesses"
"Who gets to wake up Tinkerbell and where?"

Any fun facts you can think of :)

Bumping...IDEAS PEOPLE!!!

...it's a scavenger hunt held in DL every year...I know it's not the right park, but they have past years lists posted on mouseplanet, and I'm pretty sure that they use a point scoring system.

Sounds like a fun way to introduce people to The World....One additional thought...if you are doing this on the first day and sending people all over the place, it might be a good idea to provide them with park maps, and the WDW transportation map in advance.

I'm not so much sending them out.. it's more like we all met up at the same time but noone wants to follow a schedule even though we are all doing a lot of the same things.

AND the newbies are all significant others of disney pros. Not to mention these people do not have kids and will be interested in few rides so I was looking for a way to get them interested in say, getting a character autograph or taking a pic at the wishing well. they are just all so GROWN UP, I wanted to induce some fun!

didn't know about the one at DL. Mostly I wondered what are those magic spots (like the wishing well or a hidden mickey that is more obvious than others etc... to send them to)
Besides participation isn't mandatory. Hopefully the point system instills some competitiveness in them and they get involved if not they're the ones who lose out on the fun. But I don't think that will happen.

I am planning on using the photos and mementos to make up a scrapbook for the birthday girl it's her 55th~!

This sounds like so much fun!!! How about since you are going to the Halloween party if you had to get pics of others there in certain costumes make some really easy and some hard to find!!! Oh what a great idea!!! Wish more of us were going to do something like this

Bumping again. I'd love some more ideas
