WDW return-trippers: What will you do differently this trip?

I will not do commando style, I will not do commando style, I will not do commando style :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Who am I kidding? I get into Orlando and automatically go into commando style. My last trip, last Thanskgiving, I instituted a new trick. I have nationwide minutes on my cellphone and my daughters and the family split to the 2 most popular rides and called when we got TO (not IN but TO) the rides to decide which was best to ride first.

This time it's going to only be my 2 girls, me and boyfriends (that's a good one though)...

I WILL talk my teenage daughter's boyfriend's family into going the same week we go so I don't have her on her cell phone and moaning all week!

And my craziest one. . . I will not start planning my next trip WHILE I'M STILL ON A TRIP (yep, that was me last time too). I know, I'm sick. Someone please send me away! I've been close to 20 times, have seen EVERYTHING (except Test Track) and I STILL get into crazy commado style--it's a sickness---really---not a bad habit--someone help me! :sad2:

1 Have at least one Dole Whip per day :thumbsup2
2 Eat at Chef's de France, I've got to try those snails :teeth:

1. Stay in a deluxe resort.
2. Make one day a "resort day" and hang out by the pool.
3. Explore other resorts.
4. Go when schools are in session.
5. I would say sleep later, but going early means no lines!
6. Eat at Boma.
7. See La Nouba.
8. Treat myself to a funnel cake (no guilt!)
9. Don't go to the Hoop-De-Doo.
10. See the Electric Light Parade.

I will not overplan this time. Last trip I planned everything short of what underwear my husband was going to wear on which day! It made everyone miserable, including myself. I felt like if I wasn't on tower of terror at 3.08 exactly, or lining up for dumbo at 11.34pm or whatever (okay it wasn't that bad but almost!) I wasn't sticking to schedule. Our daughter and our niece were miserable, cranky, and I expected WAY too much from them, oh and my husband was miserable and cranky too!

This time we're going with our baby so I'm hoping that's a big oppourtunity to SLOW DOWN! :moped: and just take in the sounds and everything, as apose to rushing about like a headless chicken. I've found out you don't enjoy ANYTHING that way, so this time I will remember it is a vacation not a boot camp, it's meant to be fun and not stressful.

1. Spend more time @Epcot

2. Take things slower; no marathon dashes to the next attraction

3. Take a carriage ride

4. Take more pics; I carry the camera but don't take the time to photograph much

1. No running

2. No saying " Have fun, we are at Disney World

3. No saying " Hurry up"

4. Slow down and take in the sights

We are going in early Dec. and I just want to take it all in.

1. Go to the parks early (EMH)
2. Go to the water Parks in mid afternoon
3. Take more pictures
4. Ride the "It's a small" more (before its rumor closing)
5. Don't swear any small stuff while we are on vacation.
6. Don't act our age.

Ride the "It's a small" more (before its rumor closing)

Really????? Is this true? I haven't heard that :sad2:

OMG, I don't want IASW to close...I hope that is a false rumor!

What I will do next time:
1. Get up earlier/get to the parks at opening(I kept picking up the phone when the wake up call came, and then hanging it back up again without actually getting up! We missed our Chef Mickey's ADR and were almost left behind on our trail ride!)
2. Not park hop QUITE as much...used up a good chunk of our time
3. Attend more EMH'
4. Eat more...we saved snacks and ended up just buying candy at the end!
5. Try not to fall asleep on the buses at night on the way back to our resort (no I am not kidding! My sister and cousin can attest that I did this EVERY night last December...the buses were so cozy and warm, and it wasd so cold outside!)

Can you tell I like to sleep alot!?!

1. Not spend a full day in the parks. I'll be 28 weeks pregnant (this is our first anniversary trip!) and my feet can't take it. Half-days only!

2. Swim Swim Swim. I think I got in the GF pool one time on our honeymoon.

3. Not eat sit-down meals every day. We're staying in a villa this time around so I think the kitchen will help us not get "food bog." I was perpetually stuffed last time. It was just too much food!

Regarding IASW - why on earth would they close it after doing that EXTENSIVE renovation last year???? Definitely rumor.

Back to your regularly scheduled thread.

I will try to stop worrying so much that DH and DS are having a good time -- I will just simply LET them enjoy themselves and I'll have a blast, too. I'll try to focus on the fun we're having right now, rather than worrying about the fun we are supposed to be having in 45 minutes IF we make it to the monorail stop on time and don't have to wait too long for the monorail and and and...

I've got a few...

1 - Spend more time in each country in Epcot. Our trip last year was the first for my DW. So we spent a ton of time at MK, and a day each at Epcot, Disney/MGM Studios, and Down Town Disney (which will lead me to #2 in a minute). It was drizzling and sorta miserable during our day at Epcot, so we just breezed through the countries. "Hey, there's Japan. Oh cool, Norway. Look, England. Ok, what do you want to do now?" Our trip in 379 days will be two days longer, so I am hoping to be able to spend almost an entire day just exploring each country's pavilion. I want to ride the rides, see the shows, eat the food. I really feel like I missed out last year.

2 - Go to Animal Kingdom. As I explained in #1, we spent the majority of our time in MK. We also spent a day just relaxing at our resort. So we never even got to Animal Kingdom. That's going to be our first stop next year.

3 - See more of the parades and evening shows. We only saw the parade and fireworks at MK. I really want to stick around Epcot to see the fireworks and laser show. I remember when I was a kid how cool it was to see Spaceship Earth turned into a giant globe. I really want to experience that again.

1. 12 days in the parks. We went 8 this time and just not enough time to relax too.
2. Haunted Mansion..DS too young first trip and this past trip he chickened out for some reason.
3. More afternoon breaks by the pool. The kids love this and DS and I only made it twice last trip.
4. Miniature Golf. DS loves to play and asked when we were leaving BB past trip.
5. Typhoon Lagoon. Been to BB twice. Time to try something different.
6. Downtown Disney. Missed it last trip except for Planet Hollywood Lunch(gag me).
7. Sleep in one or more days and then be at World Showcase at 11 am. We always rush through this part of Epcot and I would like to soak in the details.
8. Fishing on Seven Seas Lagoon. DS and I love to fish.
9. No ADR's before 6 pm. We had ADR's as early as 4 pm past trip and this cut our afternoon break time to basically nothing.
10. No going to parks on first or last day. Too much rushing around to get there and then on last day to get out.

1. Remember to take it easy.
2. Enjoy all the holiday happenings. Listen to the storytellers in Epcot. I still regret not taking more time in WS during our trip over July 4 one year. We missed the Drum and Fife Corp, Voices of Liberty.......all the things that made the park special that day. Have fun at MVMCP!!!!!
3. Remember that we don't HAVE to eat all the food before us. We will be on the dining plan this next trip. As it is we always eat a lot on our trips and feel stuffed. But the food choices are soooo tempting!
4. Spend more time with the grandparents. We always split up and meet for meals. It would be nice to actually do some rides together so the kids can see that Lala and Papa can be kids too.
5. Not stress trying to make sure everyone has a great time. I always wind up so stressed and out of sorts because I am trying to make each trip as perfect as can be for all ten of us. It never works! Remind myself to relax...................

1. Buy a quality poncho, or a CLEAR dollar store poncho. Mine was yellow, and the color bled onto my clothes.

2. Bring hat for Animal Kingdom. It is HOT HOT HOT there.

3. Eat at more Deluxe hotels

4. Talk to more strangers - this is actually fun to do

5. Do not eat at Coral Reef again. Limited menu, too many kids.

I only have three things we'll do differently next time:

1. Stay for a longer amount of time! This time we went for 4 nights (3.5 days in the parks) and it just wasn't enough time. Next trip will be for 7 or 8 nights.

2. We won't hit a park on arrival day. We did this a week ago, and were exhausted after having been up since 3.30 a.m. Next time we'll use arrival day to swim/check out the resort.

3. Next time we'll get Park hoppers!! I think dh in particular would've liked being able to park hop.

Kelly

Having been there too many times to count (though still not enough IMO ;) ), Dh and I have decided that we WILL do a few things different this time too when we arrive this November 9th:

1. We WILL eat at new restaurants. Though we will plan one return trip to our favorite LTT (but this is really for an early Thanksgiving meal with my sis who we are meeting ther and I see once a year). Some new ones include Garden Grill, Rose and Crown, Boma, Spoodles and Sci-fi (new to Dh, I've been)

2. We WILL see a Circlevision film in Epcot. In the past we've skipped these "time-wasters" and now as more mature adults regret this. We will definitely do Impressions de France and hopefully the Wonders of China.

3. We WILL have a car. Never had our own car before. We've always flown and used Disney transport.

4. We (Or at least DH) WILL try a Dole Whip!
