WDW resorts - which do not float your boat ?

Anywhere that's not the GF!!! DH and I don't find it snooty at all...and we are just country bumpkins from GA!!!

Pros:
Beautiful resort
Excellent restaurants
one stop from MK on monorail
View of MK from dock (possibly one's own balcony)
Room service
Helpful CM's
Music in the main building
Tranquility of a nighttime stroll

Cons:
$$$$$$$

I have also stayed at the Dolphin and Poly. DH and I stayed at POFQ for 1/2 of our trip this year. I really liked the Dolphin and POFQ. We stayed at Poly about 16 years ago, so I am sure it has been upgraded and re-furbished several times since then, but as a 13-year old, it did not appeal to me and I can't get excited about the idea of staying there:confused3 . Oh, heck, I can't get excited about the idea of staying anywhere except the GF.

Hmmm, least favorite resort that I have STAYED in was probably POR

Cons:
Too spread out
A Pain to get a refill or anything else in the food court for this reason
Walk to/ from pool was cold and long
Missed robes, super comfy beds, impeccable grounds and variety of restaurants
Transportation seemed very long after deluxe experiences

Pros:
Theming was great--just wish they'd made a New Orleans Deluxe resort!!

Here we go. We would definately stay at POP again.
Pros:
$$$$
Theming
Views (had a geat view of the lake and Illuminations)
Speed (check-in and check-out was a breeze. We even got there early and was able to go on in)
Cons:
No restaurant just a food court
Loud toilets

We visited POR because I had read that it was a romantic resort and was looking for a place DW and I could stay without the kids but decided against this location.
Pros:
Theming (Thought I was back in New Orleans)
Restaurant (Anyone want a Beneigt?)
Rooms Loved the look and the trundle bed

Cons:
Size- It was so big that the CM that was showing us around got lost more than once.
$$$- I know it is not much more than the value resorts but when all you are going to do is use the room for a place to shower and sleep, why do you need to pay more than $100 a night?
Grass- I know that one is weird but there is a reason. My DW is allergic to grass and that place has so much that it would just about kill her. Can't do that.

Oh boy I hope this is true for this family from Duluth.....

I wasn't a fan of the Contemporary. I liked the proximity to the MK, but the overall theming of the resort didn't impress me. Give me the Poly, AKL, BWI or POR anyday. :)

This is a cool thread, and very informative. One person loves what another dislikes. It's clear why Disney's variety is so effective... and a powerful lesson for life.

We have stayed at ASMU and Movies. It is OK. The rooms are small pools are crowded and food court is always busy. We always got a table though. The buses are also crowed. The up side is you are not in your room much and they are inexpensive. They are very fun for kids in the themes that they have. Good luck.

I do not care for ASSp.

Pros: cheap
bright
fun decor in the commons areas
food court was great

Cons: Hard beds...when in WDW, you really need a good one
Tiny rooms
No space for clothes or luggage storage

We stayed one night before checking into WL and were glad to leave.

Give me the gorgeously landscaped and huge rooms of the Poly any day!

WL:

Pros:
1. Nice theming, especially if you don't live in the west. Nice lobby with beautiful carvings.
2. Nice stream and pools.
3. Fabulous CMs. Diane, our mousekeeper loaded us up with towel animals.
4. Artist Point is great.
5. Love the boat ride to MK and Contemporary.
6. Comfy beds.
7. Concierge was a plus but see below.
8. Upgraded at a low additional cost.
9. Lots of evergreens and shade making it cool on hot days.

Cons:
1. Bus stops at Fort Wilderness on the way to parks.
2. Paid for courtyard but given a room with a walled balcony so we had to stand to see the view.
3. No lunch or snack offerings during the day at concierge, just sweets. Concierge closes at 10pm - too early for those staying at 9:00 or later.
4. Not the place for you if you want a tropical, Florida feeling.
5. Whispering Canyon is overrated.

Will be staying at Grand Floridian next trip.
