WDW Resort options w/ 3 children?

We *DON'T* want to do a value resort again. We found them too small.
We have a 5 yr old, 2 yr old, infant. (or 6, 3, infant depending on if we go in early May or in June)
With these ages, do we have to have a room that sleeps 5, or can it be a room for 4?
We would prefer one king bed, and then a double bed or bunkbeds for the 6 & 3 yr old.
I think the Animal kingdom lodge villas have this? Anywhere else?

Because you have an infant under 2 you are able to stay in a room that technically would be for 4 people. You would be able to use a pack and play for the baby to sleep in.
You could stay at any of the moderates (but not with a king bed room because you can only have 2 people there) or you could stay at the WL which has the rooms that have 1 queen bed and the bunk beds. There are also rooms in the AKL that have 1 queen bed and a set of bunk beds. You would not have to book the AKL Villas for that type of set up.

Wilderness Lodge has a King room with bunks. We found it comfortable, relatively quiet and convienent.

The mod that sleeps 5 is Disney's Port Orleans Resort -- Riverside

There are value resorts that have family suites but I don't know enough about them to help you... but there are family suites at value resorts.

Most of your Deluxes sleep 5 though ...

As to if you can use the infant as not counting and still have 4 to a room, I am not sure on this. I know when my DD was 2 we had to have a room for 5 so said Disney at the time.

If you go to the Disney website and book using 2 adults and 3 children and enter the age of one of the children as an infant, you are able to book a room that allows only 4 to a room.

You could also do a family suite at AS Music...but that cost about the same as a moderate. As someone else mentioned POR has a trundle bed in most if not all of their rooms.

My step kids adore the bunk beds at WL and AKL! We found them to be very helpful. Everyone got their own bed, no one had to sleep on the floor and we didn't feel crowded at all! The bunks were also useful if the kids needed a few minutes of "alone time". Everyone on their bed meant they were separated, couldn't see each other and everyone was able to relax with their own thoughts!

Its the Animal Kingdom Lodge that has standard rooms with one queen, bunkbeds, and a crib. The villas do not have room like this. Also the Wilderness Lodge has room like that. We prefer the WL for location and theming, but both are great.

I don't think Disney offers a room with a king bed and then any other bedding. What you will find are queen beds and either daybeds or bunkbeds.
Can you settle for a queen bed?

A 1 bedroom villa at any of the villas would have a king bed in the bedroom and a full or queen size sleep sofa in the living room.

Family Suite info;

DH and I stayed in a Family Suite at All Star Music ( a value resort) in Sept. of 2006.

We really enjoyed the Queen size bed, the kitchenette with the microwave, having a sofa and cushioned chair to sit on and relax after a day at the parks before retiring for the evening.

I thought the pullouts very comfortable.

They are designed so the back cushion and seat cushion of the pullout support the pullout. There is no metal bar to hurt the sleepers back.

Here is the layout of the Family Suites:

They:

-Sleep up to 6 (plus one child under age 3 in a Pak-n-Play crib)
-Studio amenities and separate sleeping areas giving more privacy than a standard room.
-Queen bed, full-size pullout sofa, convertible ottoman & chair sleepers (4 separate sleepers)
-Private master bedroom and family room have 27” flat CRT TV and high speed Internet access.
-Kitchenette with microwave, small refrigerator (4.3 cu. ft) and coffee pot
-Two-full bathrooms

We have 3 kids as well - last trip they were 1, 2 and 5, our next trip they are 2,3, and 6.

We choose to stay in a deluxe room at WL. It is amazing! It's over 500 sf and has two queen beds in one room with french doors and then a separate living room with a sleeper sofa, chairs and a small table.

It's great because the little ones and I can get up early or DH and DS can stay at the pool late without disturbing everyone else sleeping in the bedroom. We are spoiled - we tried staying in a WV at BC and longed for the extra space. It's a lot - $575 during regular season - but they have added club level benefits to it now.

If I were you I would consider a one bedroom villa at one of the DVC resorts. You can rent points quite reasonably and the space of two rooms makes your trip so much better. We have four kids and I absolutely love the two bedroom villas.
