Has anyone ridden this route lately?? I'm thinking it might be some good "down time" for my little ones (5 & 2yrs old )to regroup on the way to the next adventure, and wondered if you remembered how long of a ride it was. Maybe even catch a few recharging zzzzzzzzzzz's??? I'm sure my plan will backfire though--and they'll be so excited about the train ride they won't relax!! thanks

I think I remember a CM saying that it takes 20 minutes for the railroad to make the complete circle around the park. I don't know if they'll nap on the train...my DD age 2 loved the ride and was watching the scenery. I've read that the tomorrowland transit authority thing in Epcot is a good place to try and get the kiddos to nap.
:)

We went on the railroad a few days ago and yes, it was about 20 minutes. It was a nice rest for adults too!

Oh, I love those trains!

From Main Street to Frontierland doesn't take much time if that is what you're thinking of doing. I don't think even 5 minutes from departure to arrival.

My little guy napped on the railroad last summer for a solid 20 minutes and it was lovely. And his name is Marshall, too!!!!

It depends where you're boarding the WDWRR from. From Main Street, it will be about 5 minutes (tops).

I enjoyed a nice refreshing/recharging 4 consecutive trips on TTA with my twins DS5 while dad and big brother were at Stitch for the umpteenth time--they'll let you stay on and go 'round and round. No naps, but very relaxing for us.

It is a nice rest, we always catch the train in Mickeys toon town and ride it to frontierland for the mountains although you can sit on it as long as you like, we have done that too, for the cool air and to get off our feet! There are three places to catch it. Main st at the entrance, mickeys toon town and frontierland...

We also take the train from Toontown to Frontierland, but my boys (3 and 5) are too excited to relax. We get off the train and go to Tom Sawyer Island, which is a nice place to cool off. Riding the Liberty Belle boat, seems to be relaxing if you can get a place to sit.

I agree with that whole thought. The TTA is even better because it is much quieter and some of it is in darkness. Either one has the added feature of allowing you to stay on if you feel that one or two more loops around would be beneficial to the little one or yourself. I have ridden TTA three or four consecutive time when I really wanted to take a break. I just motioned to the CM's that I wanted to stay on and they just waved me through.

For a child the train, in my opinion, would be a stimulant for some. It might serve to keep awake more than put to sleep.

but it is a great ride! I, on the other hand, enjoy the "zone". It can also be a fun time for the "I spy" game. The train is a definate must do on our list! :cheer2:
