Just returned from a trip to DLR and want to say it was awesome!!! Now I love WDW and will still celebrate the Christmas holidays there but boy DLR has stolen my heart. Stayed at the Disneyland Hotel which was fabulous. The rehabbed rooms are just so magical :wizard: and I hated to leave.

DLR was amazing--the low crowds made it even better. Minimal lines, everything w/in walking distance, Monorail to the center of the Magic Kingdom was so cool, SUN and no rain everyday, Walt Disney inspired original rides and that Castle--what can I say it was the best!!!!!

My favorite was the Dreams fireworks--(Wishes makes me cry at WDW) and this one did the same--the music and narrations sent chills-it was fantastic!!!

I am so glad I made this visit and will definately come back :thumbsup2

It's great to hear you are in love with both places :thumbsup2! We absolutely love  WDW and haven't been to DLR for more than six years. We will be there in June and I can hardly wait! I grew up going to Disneyland, so that was all I knew until we took the kids to WDW. I cannot wait for them to experience the original park, plus I have been missing some attractions that are Disneyland only, like the Matterhorn. Yay for having two places to love !

I am so glad to hear you loved Disneyland. What was your favorite thing do you think? Besides the fireworks of course :) Ive heard several WDW fans say they werent expecting much when they came to Disneyland for the first time but were SHOCKED at how much magic there was, and how much the LOVED it and would come back. They said it didnt lack what WDW had in the way of magic what so ever.

This fall I am doing the opposite and making my first trip to WDW and its funny because I am nervous about going from a land that started the magic to several parks that are spread apart that are supposed to hold all the magic in each, and I dont know how that is going to work. I am so used to everything being all close together where you dont have to keep traveling to find more. But I know once I get there I will feel soooo stupid for saying all this, but I am trying so hard not to go in with any expectations because I guess that is where the surprise comes from.

It's nice you got to stay at the Disneyland hotel. What a good choice for a first timer's Disneyland trip.

Remember Dreams Come True is my favorite fireworks show at Disney. I'm glad you had the opportunity to see it. Magical (there summer show is a tie between Wishes for me because I love the singing of Eden Espinosa of Wicked broadway play). Did you get to see Fantasmic! and World of Color? How about Aladdin stage show in DCA? Isn't fantasyland just awesome???
As you can see in my signature, Disneyland is now my home park. We are thinking of going back to WDW this summer but the family is torn about not going back to beautiful California.

I agree with you! I love WDW but last summer I made my first trip tp DL. I thought I could not love it as much as WDW but guess what-- I do!! :lovestruc I also stayed at the Disneyland Hotel. Both places are so magical!!

Have a wonderful trip!! WDW might seem a little overwhelming at first but I am sure you will love it!!

How exciting! I absolutely adore Disneyland, I just can't get enough of it. But I also love visiting WDW. I'm just so grateful to have Disney Magic in my life:worship: Thank you Walt Disney:yay:

It's hard to say what was my favorite--loved the fireworks of coarse-Fantasmic was unbeliveable and the new show World of Color was so beautiful--just being at Walt's park was a treat. I was there 26 years ago but was not a disney fanatic then and did not remember much but this trip solidified my membership in the Disney Club!!!!

I am a Disneyland girl, born and bred. I remember my first visit to WDW, right around the time Epcot opened. My 17 year old self was horrified at how MK had "ruined" the Haunted Mansion. It was not a Louisianna plantation, but a red brick gothic thing. I have been back to WDW a couple of times since and I will say that I love it now. It has is own unique charm and there is soooooo much to do. Disneyland will always hold a special place in my heart though. My family still lives in SoCal so I try to get there as often as I can - which is not often enough if you ask me!

LOL Well Ive seen footage of the haunted mansion and it looks really cool. I am looking really forward to seeing a new mansion, especially one that looks similar to the one in the Eddie Murphy Haunted Mansion movie. I guess WDW and DL are completely different entities, and are totally different experiences in whole. There are going to be many things in each park that you are always going to compare, or love over the other. Disneyland has my heart no doubt, but I cant wait to see what WDW holds to captivate me. I am sure there are going to be many things I will want to revisit there.

Your at least lucky to live in SoCal and at least have the option of visiting DL more often. :)

Alas...I live very far away in Virginia :sad2: My parents, brother, sister and their children are the lucky ones who live in SoCal. I don't get to visit them often enough!
