i am currently contenplating gastric bypass and honestly my disney trips weigh on me enough that it is a consideration on my decision. i was wondering if anyone can tell me their experiences at WDW after bypass.

I went to WDW two months after my vertical sleeve gastrectomy and had no problems.

I avoided sit down restaurants as I was traveling alone and could share with anyone. I made sure to take all my supplements and drink my water.

Talk with you doctor about when you could teavel again afetr the surgery. I would recommend at least two months. The first month is hard (lethargy, food issues/tolerances, follow up appointments, etc).

good luck to you!

I had my surgery 2 months ago and will be an 8 day cruise on DCL in Dec and then hitting the parks for a few days afterwards. So, I will be about 8mos out by vacation time and I think it will be fine. One should know what things they can eat etc.... I have to say I really don't feel hungry and I don't think about food I haven't eaten in 2 months...no biggie to snacks, chips, desserts etc...just don't want them. Maybe it will save us money as we can share some items as I only may want a bite :lmao::rotfl:
On another hand, you can feel better, have more engery and maybe enjoy the parks more.:thumbsup2
I do have a friend who went after bypass and no isses.

Good luck with whatever you decide!!

thank you both for your replies. since i will have about a year between surgery and vacation i am feeling confident i will have it down by then. i am going to go with the roux en y so i know sugar is going to be an issue but by then i should know what works for me. i just want to go and have a good time, which shouldnt be a problem at all. LOL. i really appreciate the feedback and support!

I am 2 years out from Mine and going next month and not worried about food at all. However, evn though you should have eating down bythen, make sure you don't go too long without food. Th only times I end up sick are when I go too long andend up hungry and eating too quickly. It can be omething that never gives me a problem otherwise.

Good advice, Olive. I am 10 years post RNY GBP and I STILL have to be careful that I don't get to starvation mode, because then I'll eat too fast and it just comes right back on up!
I think one year out and you'll be absolutely fine. You will have a good idea of how your new digestive system works, and what works for you and what doesn't.
One other piece of advice that I never knew until I experienced it: alcohol hits harder and faster post RNY GBP. I used to be able to have a couple of casual drinks with no problems, but now I am more wary and careful about when and where I am imbibing. You don't need to see me in the middle of world showcase doing this......or this...:woohoo:...or this...:cool1:, after a couple of mango margaritas or grand marnier slushies!

Isn't that the truth. I Am really careful about drinking, and always make sure I eat when drinking or I will be in big trouble.
