Take this for what it's worth, I spoke with my niece last night who is a CM at MK and it appears that some time next week the MK will possibly be open 24hrs! They are trying it for a couple days to see how it goes. She was told that either they will run nonstop or have a 2 or 3 hr shutdown. I'll have more info after her shift on Saturday. Again she was told by her manager so who knows :confused3 .

There are several days in late December when MK is open to 11:00 with Evening EMH going to 2:00am and the Morning EMH starting at 7:00.

On December 30 MK hours are until 1:00am. It is then followed by EMH from 1:00am to 4:00am and on the 31st Morning EMH will have the park opening at 7:00am.

(This is from the internal site.)

I had also heard this several months ago from a friend who's a CM at MK. Gosh......alot of CM's maybe getting lots of overtime!

Well, if Pleasure Island goes STRICTLY retail/dining that would kinda make sense! There's gotta be SOMETHING for late nighters to do besides eating/drinking/shopping!::yes::

I think they should do this, but on some nights only for resort guests and other nights only for annual pass holders. There does need to be more "late night" things to do, we are from Cali and are just really getting going when everything shuts down.

I can't see a Disney park staying open for 24 hours with the exception of for certain special events. They still need to be able to do work in the parks while the guests are gone. Besides, they have EMH anyway. There's no need to keep everything open all night.

And of all the Guests that visit WDW, why should AP holders get a night all to themselves? I think Disney should have EMH for people who pay full price for their admission. Now that's a concept.

I can't see the MK staying open 24 hours. Way too much work to be done getting it ready for the morning flood of guests. I can only imagine what shape the park would be in if it ran 24 hours for just a couple of days in a row---
As for a 2or 3 hour shutdown--it would probably take that long just to clear the park of guests so they could do the clean-up, ride check, etc work.

What makes you think AP passholders don't pay full price? The cost is high, and if you live outside of FL, then you aren't there every day. FL residents can pay a lower rate, but they have a lot of blackout dates.

Keep the park open at night, and some hours closed during the day. It is way more magical with the lights on anyway, and it'll probably be less hot!
Now that's a concept :)

wow - i'm imagining MK closing at 4am, then reopening at 7am.... :faint:

Yea, right. Don't count on it. Ever since Iger took over, they seem to have become rather stingy with the personnel. I'm sure they will find a way to run the park longer with the same amount of bodies. Spread 'em out boys!:sad2:

Maybe this is for a grad night that they're hosting. I can't see Disney staying open 24 hours all the time. When will the maintinence get done?

Spoke with my niece and she has not heard anything else yet on when they are going to try it, she asked her manager and he basically said "when I hear you'll hear" the only thing he told her was if it happens it'll be sometime in June.:confused3 Will keep you posted.

When we were there over 4th of July in 2006, MK was open until 4am. Then re opened at 9am. Maybe that is what they are talking about.(?)
