Does anyone know if there are any sodium listing for WDW resturants?
My DS28 has dilated cardiomyopathy w/CHF and has to be on a very low sodium diet and I was wondering if there is anything at the World he can have or if I will need to prepare his meals.
Thanks.

1) All sit-down (table service) meals can accommodate.
2) Just ask for the chef, and he/she can help.
3) Fast food is tougher.
4) Most are sodium-laden.
5) All you can do is ask at the counter for an alternative.

This is something I have been researching lately for a trip my father with CHF will (hopefully) be taking in October. I have been unable to find any specific information about low sodium options, but have come across contact information for people at WDW who can help. About 3/4s of the way down on this link are the email addresses. http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=5873091&postcount=3 I am confident about finding options at table service, but am worried about the quick service locations. Hope this helps.

My husband has been on a low sodium diet due to heart disease for 15 years. WDW is very accomodating. When you make your ressies, tell them you are on a special diet. They will mark it in your ressies. When you are @ the restaurant the waiter will ask again about the diet & will let you know what items can be ordered as low sodium. Sometimes the chef will come out & talk w/you about the diet. There is a dietary list of all restaurants available @ town hall in MK & @ the customer service areas of the other parks.
Hope this helps. :)

I would suggest going to the disABILITIES Forum and look at Post #3 of the disABILITIES FAQs. There is a large section in that post dealing with special dietary needs, as well as many related links. You can get directly to the disABILITIES FAQs by following the link in my signature.

This is a very common topic of discussion in the disABILITIES Forum.

Thank You All so very much!!!!
Half of the fun of going is the food!

I too am looking at doing WDW on a low sodium diet and I'm curious, how goes it so far on finding information for making it work?

I know the table service restaurants are supposed to work with you, but it'd certainly be helpful to have information ahead of time to gauge things on ya know?

Counter service/fast food definitely seems like it's going to be the biggest challenge. While disney and some on here have said that even at a counter they will work with you, I dunno how much "working" they can really do...

I know disney says they can't give accurate information because vendors change etc...It seems like there should be information...

Any success finding specific information other than talk to the chefs and pack a bag lunch?

I can report from our experience in December 2008 that it can be done, some TS restaurants are more accomodating than others. LTT was the best of them all, and to our surprise and dismay, the Wave was the worst. My MIL has CHF and is an insulin dependent diabetic and quite honestly, I am surprised that she is still with us as bad as she is. The woman has 9 lives or something. lol Before the trip, I went on the DISabilities board and found the email address that you were directed to in a previous post in this thread. The lady was very helpful and there was a notification sent to the list of CS restaurants that we planned to visit. When we arrived at the CS restaurants, we had to ask for the manager before we ordered. We explained the low sodium need. There was something low sodium and low carb friendly that was offered to my MIL and most of the time, she was pleased with her meal. There was a lot of boiled chicken, unsalted cooked and fresh veggies, and egg substitute with wheat toast consumed during that 10 night stay. Overall, I was pretty darn pleased with the experience. I was so afraid that my MIL would be leaving the CR early in an ambulance from eating regular food all week, but she came away from the trip about the same as usual. She wasn't 100% good with her diet, but she never is. All I know is that I made sure that she had good choices available. I lead the horse to the water, I couldn't always make her drink. ;)
