WDW newbie - how did you keep it from your kids?

I submitted this in another forum but I thought I would try this one. Our family, myself, DH, DS11 and DD9 are going to WDW for the first time ever and are staying at AKL from Sept 4-12. We haven't told the kids - my bad. It's really hard when they mention friends of theirs who have been to DL or WDW and wouldn't it be nice if we could go. We nod sympathetically and say yes it would be but we just can't afford it. So if any of you have done the same, how did you surprise your kids? I thought of putting the tickets in a giftbox for them but that sounds kind of lame. Any suggestions?
