WDW Marathon question cliff shot/powerade flavor??

did they post anywhere what flavor powerade and cliff shots will be available at the water stops? I want to be able to use the same flavor in my last few training runs to avoid any possible stomach issues on race day. the last marathon I ran they sent out that info about a month ahead of time but didnt see it anywhere. anyone have any inside info? or am I doomed. LOL

Usually its lemon lime powerade.

I have no idea about the Clf shots since I ran through that sections with hands blocking the food from my eyes. I think you had a choice though. I vaguely remember people discusing what flavor they tried.

I'm with Cecilia--all I remember was lemon lime Powerade. Clif Shots, I have no idea what the selection is. I did grab a chocolate flavored one two years ago since I was one powerbar short in what I needed for the rest of the race. It was NASTY! Of course, that's just my opinion, but I have no idea how Power gels and GUs are so much different in consistency and flavor than Clif. I'm sure some people like the Clif Shots, but I can't stomach them.

i don't know if there was a choice in clif shots. in 2006's half i was handed a Clif Cola Shot (this runs a close tie to the Beverly over at the Cola tasting in Epcot in my opinoin). I had my own gel but was a newbie and thought hey why not taste it. HA! Last time I do that Before I opened it I did ask and peer at others being handed out and was told it was only Cola available. Ewwww.

In 2007 I used my own gels and just used the Clif Shot station as a moment of humor as I watched and listened to the remarks LMBO 2007 was the year of the Apple flavor. Granny Smith Apple Pie I believe I don't believe that went over well either but I bet it was better than the Cola.

As a joke on Cathy's teen son who eats everything she brings into her house, including her Sport Beans. We had him taste the Cola shot. We are wicked wicked women LOL

BTW... I do use Clif Shot Chocolate as my gel. I also like the mocha flavor. Caramel Power gel wasn't bad and it was a thinner consistency which works better in my gel flask when i use it. the Clif won't come out of my flask.

This may not be of any interest/help but I thought I would throw it in anyway. I found Powerade powder packets at WM the other day. Singles to add to water kind of like Crystal Light to go. They had all flavors and come in a box with 10 packets. Hope this helps someone!

I cannot stomach Clifshots either so don't feel alone. I am a fan of the now termed "liquid snot" otherwise known as GU!!!!

thanks for the updates. you had me lol with these. ok if the cola is really like beverly I will be passing on that for sure. I will probably only grab one if I am desparately in need as I generally avoid the stuff becuase I ahve a problem choking it down but I suppose it will do in a desperation pinch....

thanks Lisa for the info on the Powerade powder. that might work better for me. i don't typically have powerade or gator in the house. i'm always forgetting but perhaps if i had the powder version i could toss a couple in my running bag. i'll check it out

i have to admit i haven't tried GU brand yet. i keep buying a pack but then never try it. someday i will. the clif shots can be so thick unless its hot out or they are up against your body getting warmed up. then they are only slightly thinner. but hey if i need something like that to finish and keep my energy so be it.

I don't know what is up with Cliff Shots, but they are nasty. During the 1/2 last year is was Apple Pie flavored. I grabbed one and stuffed it in my pocket "Just in case". I used it about a month later on a run and almost gagged on it.

I definately prefer Power Gel and Hammergel. I have not tried GU, but have heard that is much better also. The Cliff Shots also didn't seem to give me the same oooph and other gels, all I got were tummy cramps!

Maybe they will have there new seasonal flavor(from Clif's email newsletter) Pear Appel Strudel. They always come up with something that doesn't sell well and end's up at WDW

don't dis the Pear Apple Strudel Clif Bar. It's the new seasonal bar and frankly it's good. I do think that Cliff does force new or slow product out into races. The apple whatever shot from last year was not something I would ever try again.

Looked at Clif's website and they have discontinued the Orange Cream and Cola flavors of shot. Now I know what will be out there in a few weeks

Yeppers Beverly (cola).....

That's why I am carting a supply of Powerbar Gels - Strawberry/Banana, Vanilla and Oh man I need a third for the just in case situations.....



It's funny. WDWM had Powerbar as a sponsor until 06. I couldn't stand PB gels as they were thick and mediceny (sp?). Worse that a bad icing. I used Cliff SHots at the time. I think it was the old blend of rice syrup they used. Today, I can stand Shots but have switched almost exclusively back to PB. I find that their new formula works with my system better and they seem lighter on the tummy. Of course with all supplememtns, YMMV.
