Chris wasn't able to meet me until later that day, so I used one of my comp tickets from last year to get in Animal Kingdom. Chris said he'd join me between 1 and 2pm. Since he really isn't that crazy about AK, I took the opportunity to do a handful of things that he would not care about doing, such as the tiger and gorilla trails. I also took a quick ride on Kali River Rapids. I still wasn't feeling really great, but I tried not to let it stop me.
To my disappointment, there were no characters at the entrance of the park this time around. Last year, there were always tons of characters in that courtyard area. I did see a talking palm tree though! hehe.
I did see many characters stationed in various areas. Chip and Dale seemed to be out for the whole day. I went to Camp Minnie-Mickey and got in line to meet Daisy Duck. That's one you don't usually see too often. Nearby the meet and greet areas, there was a white pony named Rosie with her own CM badge and pin collector lanyard! lol. Also while I was there, a small guitar playing group entertained everyone with a rendition of "Bare Necessities."
Around 1pm, I decided to go wait at the front for Chris. While I was sitting around, a CM asked me if I'd mind doing a survey so I said no problem. I feel funny doing those though, because I am not your typical guest! It was a little after 2 when Chris showed up. He said he and his dad had an argument so they were late heading out.
We did a handful more things at AK, including Kilimajaro Safari's which we used fastpast for- I love fastpast! It's a life saver. We also rode Dinosaur. Chris knows where all the cameras are on the rides that take your picture so he always does a funny pose. For some reason, in our picture, I'm looking the opposite direction as everyone else! They made the pictures smaller recently.
We took the train to the Conservation Station. Before the train started moving, a CM came over and told us to put on our seatbelts. Instinctively, I looked around for them- and then felt really stupid because trains don't have seatbelts! Argh! I'm so gullible!
At the petting zoo, it was so hot that all the animals were asleep under the canopies. How boring. We didn't stay there too long. It was nice and cool inside though. And while we were inside, we found a talking trashcan- Push's cousin! (Push is the Tomorrowland trashcan)
Of course, one of the main things I wanted to see at AK was the new Jammin Jungle Parade. That is a lot of fun. The puppets are way cool, and I'd love to try to operate one. Chris later told me that a friend of his was in the parade we saw. One funny thing about the AK parade is that one section of music sounds almost exactly like music that my 4th grade class danced to in elementary school.
Before we left for the day, I wanted to try the new Primeval Whirl. I worried a bit that I wasn't feeling well enough to go on it, but I was fine. It's actually pretty fun. It whirls you around a lot. I think the whole new dino area is very cute. I agree that it is tacky, but it's *supposed* to be tacky! That's the point! It's themed to be a roadside attraction.
That evening Chris and I decided to play in the arcade back at the resort. I don't care much for video games, but I can get seriously addicted to those ones that you can win tickets for prizes with. I decided to try my hand at this one where the machine counts up to 1000 and you have to hit the button at the moment it gets to 1000. Guess what? I actually did it! I hit the button and won 500 tickets! It was amazing- I've never gotten a jackpot on those games in my life, and all of a sudden tickets are just pouring out of the machine! I decided to save the receit and come back later to see if I could get more.
