I ended up going to MGM for a few hours on a whim yesterday. I get such a kick out of getting to do that! I spent the afternoon at an outlet mall and then Walmart looking for new black shoes, and around 5pm, I just up and left to see if I could catch Chris with Lilo and Stitch before he left. The parade was going on by the time I got there, and I had to scramble to get to the animation courtyard. Then, I checked the time guide and realized that by the time I got there, Lilo and Stitch were long gone...or so I thought. When it was late enough that I figured Chris would be home, I gave him a call on my cellphone. It turned out he had tried to call the apartment only 15 minutes earlier! lol. Anyway, upon talking to him, I discovered that Stitch had done another set after 6...I could have found Chris after all but I didn't know to go back! Oops...

Here's a topic I'm sure you're all interested in- my first day of training in Adventureland. I met my trainer and 3 other trainees in the utiladors. Scedules have already been messed up! My trainer had only 2 of us listed on her sheet. One guy was supposed to have been with Jungle Cruise. Oy. Our trainer quite amusing- she told us many funny stories about guests and past CMs...yes, a bit of a gossip. hehe.

We got to go on all three of our area attractions- Aladdin, Tiki Room, and Treehouse- before the park opened. :) We had our own private viewing of the Tiki Room and each got to fly our own carpet. For the training, we were shown a whole bunch in one day. It'll take forever to remember it all! Those attractions are more complicated than they look! Aladdin has different positions like greeter, loader, and the person who pushes the button as well as walks all the way around to check seatbelts. Tiki Room has a handful of small spiels that I'll have to learn, but the trainer said we were free to make them our own, and we didn't have to go word for word. I'm getting shy again....yes, that's right- Angela the actress is shy about talking to a large group! We took turns doing the different positions. I actually did one of the spiels into a mic. I got to read it though since I hadn't learned it. For some reason, I find it scary to have my voice amplified for a whole audience to hear. I guess this role will be good for me. Aladdin requires some spieling as well. There are characters around that area- yay.

I filled out a preference sheet and put down that I want full-time so we'll see what happens with that. I want to be in entertainment just as badly as before. I still get that pang of jealousy and longing when I see the performers backstage. *sigh* One guy in my training group is a theatre person as well. He just graduated from U of FL's theatre program and plans to later move to LA! Isn't that cool?

I hate being shy. The few times guests asked me questions, I got all tongue tied. Wah! I'm better at entertaining kids. They love the little puppet character I can make with my hands. The little kids were soo cute.

The costume I wear is muggy. It feels lightweight at first, but it sticks to your body like saran wrap in the heat. yuck!

We had a major downpour and thunderstorm today just as I was rushing to my car. Figures I was wearing a white t-shirt! hehe.

Disney doesn't have me scheduled for anything next week! That better be a mistake...*and* they spelled my last name wrong on the schedule sheet- Allan instead of Allen. good grief.

I'm quite certain I'm going to go get a place of my own. The idea of decorating my own place and getting to keep it any way I want is getting more and more appealing. hehe. And I do have money for now- my parents have saved an account for me since I was a toddler. If my journals sometimes sound as if I'm whining, just remember that I am writing in journal format, and I tend to use journals to vent.

What happens if it's not?
Bummer.

I have a silly question. If you don't get full-time employment, how are you going to pay your bills and/or find a place to live? Does Disney pay that much????

Sounds like a good update Angie! I hope they get the schedule worked out for you and good luck finding a place to stay!

wvjules- no, Disney pays peanuts. I'm living off the college account my parents have put money in every year since I was 2. I have at least enough for another semester of school since I graduated in only seven semesters instead of 8 because I did the college program.

Have you thought about just picking up waitressing shifts once in a while at a local restaurant? I know lots of people on my college program picked up at Friday's or Bennigans for some extra cash when they weren't getting enough hours. The management at both of those is really good about letting people do that. I was going to pick up a few shifts at the Olive Garden on I-Drive (since I worked at the OG at home for a couple of years, they were willing to let me work with no training), but just got too busy with other stuff.

It might be worth a shot.

A quick question, Angie. Do you journal for yourself too? My DD has done this since she was about 10 years old. It is a great way for her to remember things. Each night she writes a small entry in a journal and reads the entry for that date from the previous year.

Yes, I do. I've kept a diary since I first got one for my 9th birthday

Angie,
I don't get over here often, so I missed the news you got a job at Disney.

YEAH! I am sure it will all work out for you and you are right doing the speils will be good experience for you. Just immerse yourself in the role, you aren't Angie you are a beautiful princess from whereever Aladdin is from. (I know the name, but could never spell it LOL!)

I assume you are posting your schedule. Maybe if you are working I will ride Aladdin. I have never done it, mainly because I am normally solo and I feel kind of stupid on a ride that looks like you need a few people to really enjoy it.

own place is look at tag sales....or whatever they are called down there......some times you can get good quality stuff for a few bucks or you can get garbage......just keep your eyes out......good luck

Very interesting, Angie. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, Angie, you've been keeping a diary since you were 9? They must be the original Princess Diaries....:jester:

Thanks for the updates. I think Tiki Room sounds like fun.:D
