My fiancee and I just joined the DVC last month. We would like to make our first DVC excursion to Disneyland in May 2010 for our honeymoon. Then in October I would like to stay 2 weeks at AKV (our home resort) for my birthday.

Since i've never been to WDW in October and never been to Disneyland at all, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what to expect or had any suggestions.

October weather at WDW is usually pretty good...especially if you are more toward the end of the month. Crowds are a bit heavier in October than some other times though. Lots of schools have teacher's union workshops in October, and many families take the opportunity to slip in a quick vacation. There is also the food and wine festival that makes things a little busy.

October means International Food and Wine Festival at WDW. One of the most fun times to visit the World. Food kiosks offer tastes of foods from around the world. There are paid functions like Party for the Senses and lots of free things to do too. The wine tastings are a good way to try new wines and meet winemakers who love to talk about their wines. There are beer tastings as well.

The Halloween decorations are up. And Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is worth attending. In short, Oct. is a wonderful time to visit.

We LOVE October at WDW!!:yay: The weather is perfect - nice and warm but not as sticky. We love the activities of the Food & Wine Festival. We usually also attend the Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom. The fireworks are fantastic! Can you tell it's my favorite time of year to visit? :)

May is a great time to visit Disneyland, and late October is a great time to viist WDW.

We love going in October. Still plenty hot enough to go to the water parks, but not unbearable (and I don't cope well in heat). We also enjoy F&W. We have gone all different times in October and find that the biggest crowds we've encountered are over Columbus Day weekend and Halloween itself. Very manageable IMO.

We went to F&W last October, the first week and loved it. Crowds were managable, weather was great! :thumbsup2

Cool! Thanks to all for the info. It sounds like I'm in for a real "treat". (Pun partially intended)
