Hi Everyone. My husband and I are thinking of being wild and crazy and taking a quick trip to WDW in July for our anniversary. I am a big planner and usually plan a year in advance for our trip which is usually in the fall. We are not sure what to expect in July for crowds... weather... etc. We know it is hot but I don't think we can wrap our minds around how hot! When we go the wait times are usually 20 - 30 minutes ... is this tripled in the summer??? any info would be great! ... We just don't know what to do. Thank you

The temperature today is 87 degrees at 12:04pm.

It will alsmot undoubtedly get into the mid nineties.

Last week, we had temperatures over 100 degrees each and every day.

It rains almost every day for a short period, but while the duration is short....the intensity can be incredible.

We were out the other day and I had taken one umbrella. As it had started to rain HARD....John took the umbrella to get the car and come back to the front of the store to pick me up.

It was raining so hard and the wind was so strong, I could not shut the passenger side car door and while it was open the DRIVER'S side door got wet.

The parks will also be fairly crowded. A good rule of thumb is that you can expect larger crowds when kids are out of school.

It can not be repeated too often that during the summer months in Florida....you need sunscreen and need to stay hydrated.

Drinking small amounts frequently is better than downing a larger amount at one time and sunscreen needs to be reapplied.

Hope this helps.

Great listing of July facts.

I think there are two geniuses is the household!

A friend of my Aunt is here to visit from Orlando and thrilled beyond words that it is only 80 here. She said it was just brutal hot when she left Orlando. She rides her bike every day and said she has been riding at 5am because it's a bit cooler then. Yikes!

we did a last week of July trip in 2003, and we will never, ever do that again. And we live in New Orleans, so we know what hot and muggy is.

Kevin pretty much nailed it - crowds, heat, rain, and oh by the way HEAT AND RAIN..

I haven't noticed the schedule for this month, but when we went in 2003, the MK was open until 12pm with an EMH that went until 3am. If you find yourself in this situation, crowds thin out after 1am, so it can be a whole lot of fun between 1am and 3am. The downside is that touring a park the next day is very difficult - either do a water park, or a park that you've been to already, or just go shopping, and hit a park that night.

Also, when it does rain, if you can gut it out, the parks aren't crowded at all, and you can get a lot done.

If you have been to WDW before, and don't come with a, "I need to see and do everything mentality," a July trip can be great. As everyone says, it is hot and crowded, yet many people go back every year. It just takes a different type of planning.

Happy Anniversary!

We visited late July/early August 2 years ago. I read and read the boards for suggestions and, to be honest, I thought we did really well. Was it hot... YES! Were we miserable...for the most part, no.

We were up every day for rope drop and then went back to the pool after lunch. We did not go back to the parks until 5 or so and, even then, started with dinner somewhere so it would be cooler by the time we were doing rides again. We went through a lot of water and insisted that the children drink at least at each and every attraction - they got used to Mom barking out, 'drink!'

We had one day at DHS that was just oppressively hot and miserable. We also had one day (also at DHS strangely enough) where it poured rain for nearly the whole time we were there. The daily storms were manageable and we would just wait them out and then move on.

Because of the way we toured (thanks TGM!) we never waited more than 10-15 minutes for any ride. For shows, sometimes a bit longer, depending on how early we lined up.

I think if you do it right, you can go and have fun without melting.
