Planning a trip for family of 3 to WDW in Jan. I have heard that it is the bedst time to go. Any suggestions out there?:grouphug:

It's a great time to go as long as it's a few days after New Year's, the crowds are near the lowest and the weather isn't too hot. However, be aware that there is a lot of ride refurbishing that goes on during this period, so you should check ahead of time to see what rides won't be running.

We went in Jan of this year and our next trip is for Jan 08...as the previous poster said, there are some rehabs but not enough to spoil a trip or make us reschedule...I would suggest to be prepared for the weather..bring a jacket for mornings and evenings...the afternoons are pleasant, but daylight is short. We plan on taking all of our WDW trips during Jan to avoid crowds and heat. The only rides that I can recall having a wait while we were there were Soarin, BTMR and TT...those were only about 10-20 minutes and fast pass wasn't being used at all while we there that we saw, there was no need for it...have a great trip!

I am going for Marathon Weekend 11-13 Jan. I heard that gets quite crowded. You may want to plan around it.

My family and I love January! We went last year and we are going back for a whopping 16 days :cool1: this coming January. We liked the cooler weather and lower crowds.
The weather would be 82 one day and the next it would 58! We packed shorts and long pants. This time I will pack more in the way of shorts just in case we hit some more warm weather. Touring the parks in this weather was awesome. We were not really fatigued by extreme heat and if it was chilly we brought a blanket for the girls to cover them when they are in the stroller. We all had heavy jackets with us (we were coming from Dallas and last January we had a really bad ice and snow storm, so it was cold!). We also took lighter jackets as well.
The crowds were not bad at all even on MLK weekend. We never waited longer than 20 minutes for a ride. We also used the fastpass to cut down on any wait.
The only thing is if you want to go swimming the weather may not always be conducive for swimming. Also, only one water park is open. WDW may do more in the way of rehabs during the slower months, so a favorite ride may be closed for rehab.
Even with all of the above we still love January!

Pack for both weather extreems...hot and cold. Hopefully you'll have perfect weather...cool mornings/evenings and warm days!:thumbsup2

My family and I went to WDW in January of 2005. The wait times for rides, especially the very popular ones, were less than half of the wait in the summertime, when we usually go. But, be warned, it can be quite chilly, even in the daytime. I live in NY. We were dressed in our winter clothing on the way over there and we used that clothing a lot during our week long stay. Have fun!!
