Has anyone ever been in the first few weeks of February? This will be our first trip and I am getting starting planning. It seems like the perfect time for our family but I have a few questions. How is the weather? I don't mind it being a little cooler but I don't want to have to be in jeans and l/s all day. What are the crowds like too? Any advice is greatly appreciated or if the end of the year would be better. Thanks!!!

I have been in late january it was pretty cold and windy when I went in 04

I would say there were a few times were you needed jeans and a sweatshirt but other days you could probably get away with shorts? but by the evening you would be cold!

that was my experience especially fantasmic that was freezing!!!

That's what I was thinking. I would like to go later but DM is going also and has "stated" that we are going then. Does it warm up later in February or early March?

it will be jacket and sweat shirt weather. so be prepared, we were there in mid feb this year, and ended up getting a few jackets and sweatshirts. Other wise the crowds are low and manageable.

Florida resident here: OKay Florida does get cold-like 40s and 50s cold. February is great, but chilly-especially night shows, fireworks, fantasmics, etc. Jackets, gloves (disney sells gloves $8/pair) socks & shoes-no sandals. But oddly-still wear sunscreen, besides windburn-sunburn! Have a great trip!;)

We have been down to WDW during the first week of February for the past two years, and I must say we love it. We have not found the weather to be bad at all. The first year we went we definitely did need a light jacket in the morning, but by late morning they were off. We saw people in shorts and tank tops. Pool time was bit tricky - you really had to time it right to be in the warmest time of day - the 2:00 to 5:00 range, which worked great for us but I know wouldn't work for everyone.

This past year it was downright hot! In the mid to upper 80's almost the whole week. My sister and I were both sweating by 10:00 a.m., and the whole family went to the pool every day. In fact, I would have preferred it to be much cooler.

Since I have never been to WDW at any other time of year, I can't speak to the crowd levels comparitively, but I can tell you that we thought the crowds were quite manageable, especially in the morning hours.

We are planning on doing WDW again in February of '09, and you couldn't pay me to go during peak season. Too hot and too crowded.

That makes me feel better. With having a 3 yr, 2yr, and 14 mo. with us we have to be kinda picky about time of year. There is no way we could stand in line for hours:eek: for a ride. Where do you stay? My brother is military and we are all going so we have pretty much decided on SOG.

With young kids we feel like it's even more important to go during cooler weather - we just don't want to subject our kids to long days out in the sun and heat. And paying Value Season rates is pretty nice, too. :-)

We stay in the Old Key West villas because we like to have a kitchen. We order groceries from gardengrocer so we don't have to eat all our meals at the parks - plus it saves money. We have regular breakfasts (so our kids don't have upset stomachs for those rides!) then have lunch at the park. Usually we get back to the room for rest/pool/etc and have a nice dinner. I know a lot of people don't want to cook on vacation, but my husband loves to cook and doesn't often get the chance. They also have laundry in the unit. It's more like an apartment than a hotel room.

You'll have to check back and let us know what you decide - perhaps our paths will cross in February. :-) Oh - just an FYI - Superbowl is in Tampa in 2009, so you might want to take that into consideration. Prevailing theory is that it will increase park crowds.

Good luck!

Its Florida. You never know. It may be 80 degrees in Feb but this year in late march it was freezing for about a week. (like 50 degrees)
