Have any Aussies stayed at WDW Contemporary Resort and if so, did you get a discount on your room rate?
I have been quote $2000 for five nights which is hard to justify considering the time spent in the room but my heart really wants to.
Where does everyone else stay for those who have stayed in the WDW Resort?

Hi,
Who was your quote with? through the WDW site or an Australian travel agent?

Are the periods you are travelling in high season/low season? Did you try and get a quote through the WDW site 'promotional offers page'.

Have you checked the room rates on All Ears? http://allears.net/acc/faq_con.htm

FYI - I have not stayed at the Contemporary, stayed at POR.

ETA: sorry I provided the wrong link.

BrettyStar - I haven't stayed at CR but your quote seems pretty steep for 5 nights. There are discounts on offer for the Deluxes -- I think it is either 35 or 40%. I've stayed at POR, CSR and BCV.
The deluxes are nice....but there is nothing wrong with the moderates; particularly when POFQ and POR are being refurbished this year and CSR and CBR have already been through theirs.

Don't know how many are in your travelling party or when you are staying...
But I reckon you could get Bay Lake Tower studio (or even 1 bed) for less than that even at the cash rate??
And certainly cheaper if you rent points.
You get a better location and pool (IMHO) and a kitchenette

Not sure how many in your party, what view you've chosen, what level floor, any tickets? etc which all affects the price.
I stayed there last year with a 40% discount for 5 nights and paid about $2000 - iincluding DDX plan and hopper tickets for 2 people in mid-june.
I quite liked the CR - great for MK access, the monorail, the hotel was very new and modern - not very cartoony - more adult and few hidden mickeys. I had a MK view room and could watch the fireworks and lie in bed looking at the lit up castle. Great for location and good transport. Good shopping and food choices. A very busy and noisy hotel - Chef Mickey seems to be continuous! but the room door successfully blocked the noise. and because I didn't need to walk through the ground floor foyer to get anywhere I didn't really see the staff and get that sense of friendly service.
Lots of options have been mentioned - look for the wide range of discounts, and look at the DVC board - renting points for BLT is a good option.

Thanks everyone!
It was only two in our party but with the 30% discount it came to $2200 just for the cheapest room.
However, totally changed our mind and booked AKL Club Level for $1800 so we were much happier with that.
I appreciate all your help and advice.
