Hi everyone...we just got back from Spring Break in Florida. We visited the inlaws, spent 3 days on the beach in Clearwater, and 3 days at WDW. We stayed at BCV, so we had some meals in the room, but I must say we feel that the food at WDW is just getting better and better. On Monday we had lunch at the Coral Reef in EPCOT. We had heard mixed reviews and wanted to try it. The atmosphere and service were great, the food was good but not fantastic. Most of us had the Mahi, the best thing on the plate was those crisp green beans, kids and adults LOVED them. On Tuesday we bought lunch at Columbia Harbor House in the MK. It was very good for counter service. I had a tuna sandwich, very good, but they toasted the bread and I prefer mine soft. Dinner at LTT was FANTASTIC! Everything, the meat, potatoes, macaroni, all great, but the grean bean bowl was empty first. On Wednesday we had breakfast with Donald at AK. Great fun and really good food. We will do this one again. For lunch we picked Tusker House. SUPER!! DH and I had the chicken, very moist and yummy. My 2 oldest DDs had the fish, salmon I think, and it was almost better that the fish at Coral Reef. AND....GREAN BEANS again!!! We enjoyed them as this was our last meal in THE WORLD. After AK we drove to Clearwater and had a few more good meals there. The trip was WAY TOO SHORT, but then again, my khakis are tight today so I guess it is good we are home LOL.....Lacee

I LOVE green beans. I will have to make a point of having them next month!

Glad you had a nice trip.

I'm glad someone likes those green beans but we sure didn't. Maybe it's a regional thing but we prefer our green beans cooked!

Here in Alabama we like 'em cooked and when they're done put the top on the boiler and let them cook for another few hours..preferably with some pork in it to make good and greasy.

Green beans are great. I love them when they are fresh.

May I ask where you ate in Clearwater?:sunny:

I agree, totally, about WDW's green beans being exceptionally good except for the green beans at 50s Prime Time Cafe. Their green beans are absolutely horrible -- completely tasteless -- or at least they were the day we went there for lunch. They were so bad that I wondered if it was intentional. You know, so they could holler at you for not finishing your green beans?

199 days and counting . . . again!

I was wondering the same thing :) I grew up in Palm Harbor, which is a couple miles north of Clearwater.

The green beans with the chicken meal at Tusker House are great! DW likes them so much she wants me to ask for an additional side order of the beans next time we eat there!

Now that I am grown up (mostly) I have found that I enjoy raw, or nearly so veggies as opposed to the ones that are cooked to death and smothered in grease but my husband likes 'em greasy and limp. LOL

That's so funny about the green beans because everywhere we ate that was the only thing None of us liked. We are the southern family that cooks them things to death. We had them about 10 places and never got them "cooked". So funny. Glad someone likes them.

Another southerner here - and we don't like those crisp green beans either! We prefer them nice and cooked!

People, let me explain. I was raised in southern Louisiana, and DH was raised in Jacksonville, Fl. We have been living north of the Mason-Dixon for the past 4 years due to employment. While we now live in a very nice burb with GREAT schools, and Chicagoland has much to offer families, we still consider ourselves southerners, BIG TIME!!!! We were raised on veggies cooked for hours with lots of pork fat!!! While we still enjoy those at times, we have come to really enjoy the crisper version and stir-fry type of veggies. We love our trips to the south though, we don't have the same BBQ up hear (DH LOVES Sonny's and Woody's) and there is no Chick-fil-a up here. We had all of that on our trip last week. Crispy Cream donuts are new here and we were raised on them. Anyway, in Clearwater we stayed at the Marriot on Sand Key and the restaurant there, Watercolors, was great. It was also right next to the Columbia restaurant, and we ate there too (we used to love the one in St. Augustine!!) Try it for great cuban/spanish food...the Black Bean soup is to die for!!!!! Happy eating YA'LL......Lacee

Thanks for the report.

We were married at the Sheraton Sand Key.:D The Marriott is what used to be the Radisson, correct?

Yes, Columbia is good. Isn't that whole area just beautiful?

I have to say, if you want great green beans, go to Disney's Vero Beach Resort. They have a green bean and carrot mixture they serve. The carrots are real thin like a toothpick and the beans are still crisp but cooked. YUM!!

FloridaFam...Yes, when we made our reservations it was the Raddison, and then Marriot recently took it over. We stayed on the 9th floor and the views were gorgeous. We hope to make it to Vero one day!!!!

I give a big thumbs up to the WDW veggies in general. I try to eat lots of green stuff on vacation (to counteract all the bread and Mickey Head Bars) and lately they just keep getting better. I had wonderful veggies, salads and fruits at the Chef Mickey's Buffet and also at the Crystal Palace Buffet. Boma has wonderful veggies as well, and the mixed veggies they serve as a side at Olivia's at Old Key West are a favorite I always look forward to. I kept telling my family that I could easily be a vegetarian if I had a chef to make me veggies like all these... YUM!
