WDW gift card in USD

DD wants to purchase WDW gift cards for the kids, preferrably before we go on our trip. Online purchase is only for US residents.

Is there any other place to buy them? e.g. Can we get them at a Cdn Disney store (in US dollars)?

If not, can we buy them at POP when we arrive?

There should be some at Pop. I never looked but I know all the shops in the parks and DTD had them.

If you're near a boarder, I heard that Target is now selling Disney Gift Cards.


Has anyone tried adding $ to one they picked up while on vacation? Now that would be great if we could add $ to one from Canada in US funds.

Pop definitely has them. I've picked one up there on my last 3 trips. They're at the cash registers.

Thanks for responses. Too bad we cannot get them before we go....DD wanted to give them to the kids a day or so before we leave for our vacation, and then ask them to guess where we are going

I agree...they could allow us to buy online and even give us the choice of Cdn $$ or US $$... What difference does it really make to Disney....unless there is some kind of law against it

I had the same problem, we were going on the PC cruise with DD and family so wanted to get them a personalized card for xmas. Of course you can't have them sent to Canada, so I have a friend who has friends that live in the states. They were kind enough to let me use their address to have the cards delivered. It was worth the extra effort it took. Had one printed (with pics) for grandson/granddaughter and mom and dad. I was so excited, it was one of those perfect presents. They all really liked them

I think you can reload them from Canada, just not buy them.

Maybe somebody going soon could send you there "used" cards to reload?

I think the reason that the Canadian Disney stores are not able to exchange currency. Yes they can accept US Dollars as payment but like any other retailer in Canada they have to give change in Canadian Dollars. If they were to sell you a gift card that was in US funds bought with Canadian dollars they would be exchanging currency. The same goes with Disney Dollars as they were given special permission by the United Sates Treasury Dept. to produce them, they have to treat them just like they do any other currency they deal with.

I am more than willing to pay for them in American dollars, either in store or online

I do understand the difficulties involved with purchasing in Canada, I do not understand why I cannot buy them online.

Oh well...we'll get them upon arrival at the resort.
