This was disappointing, but I guess you really can't complain about something like this. So I will just vent about it here. :)

We didn't experience any of the year of a million dreams stuff. saw the dreams cast members though but we just never lucked out though. We were ok with that though. It was fun to see people get things. I think its a great thing they are doing that.

So here is what happened. We told our daughter about it cause she saw some people in the park get the dream stuff. Then on wednesday or Thursday last week (can't remember which), when we got back to our room at Riverside, there was a bunch of stuff in there from the disney florist. There was a princess balloon and a giant stuffed minnie and mickey with a basket with candy on DD-5's bed with her stuffed animals. She got all excited and we all thought for a second it was part of the dreams thing. Didn't know they were doing it at the resorts, but what else could it be right? Until i took a look and saw the card on it that read "Happy 15th Birthday K_ love mom and dad." It was very disappointing. Right on the cards for each thing (basket, balloon and flowers) the room number was written: 3546. We were in room 3542. How can you make that mistake? I mean we were disappointed but can you imagine being the family that bought the stuff and it was delivered to the wrong room? Lucky for them we are honest people. :)

I was going to go down and see if they were there, but the tag said it had to be delivered by 750pm and it was only noon. So since it wasn't late I figured it could still get there in time.

So I called the number on the card for the florist and told them they delivered it to the wrong room. The guy I spoke to couldn't believe I called. He went on and on about how great it was that I let them know and how sometimes when this happens the people just keep the stuff and they never find it. Finally, he said to reward my honesty they wanted to do something really nice for us. So he took down all my info and asked about how many of us were that, my kids, what it was about the stuff my daughter liked the most, and on and on. I couldn't believe it. Was really nice of them to do this. He said he felt bad for Ky since she must have thought the stuff was for her. He said one day when we get back to the hotel there would be a surprise for us. An hour later someone arrived to take the stuff and move it to the next room (and without any appology I might add).

And I was surprised cause nothing ever came! Every day we would come back from the park all excited wondering if something was going to be in the room. Thankfully I never told my daughter there was going to be a surprise for her.

Oh well, guess you can't complain when you don't get something unexpected for free. But it was disappointing. At least I know that the family got the stuff. Hopefuly K_ had a wonderful birthday. I thought about telling the family since they were only a couple of doors down, but I figured why ruin it for them. They still got their delivery on time and hopefully all went well for them.

The first thing that popped into my head, is what if the "I'm sorry" delivery went to THEIR room, and they weren't as honest? :(
I'm glad you didn't tell your daughter there was going to be a surprise. You're nicer than I am - I wouldn't have kept the original deliver, either, but I would have called to complain that I didn't get my "I'm sorry" delivery! I really think that is the least they could do, since you could have easily kept that wrong delivery and they would have had to send another one out to the family that paid for it.

Your poor DD! That's too bad. I totally understand why you were upset. Thank goodness you did not tell your DD, she would have been crushed again.

That's a bummer that the florist got your hopes up for something special and then didn't follow through. :sad1:

It's nice to know there are honest people out there! I'm sure if the intended recipient knew about the mix up, they would be very grateful that you did the right thing. ;)

It really wasn't the Disney Florist's fault that the delivery was made incorrectly. The Disney Florist delivers to the front desk of the resort. A resort CM runner makes the deliveries.

I think it was very nice of you to call the florist so that the gift could be picked up and delivered to the correct party. When I was doing gift baskets, this happened to me a couple of times. Unfortunately, the folks who received the baskets by mistake did not call me. They kept the baskets (full of WDW merchandise) and dove into them. When my clients called to explain that they had not received their purchases, I had to call the resort and spend a lot of time tracking down what had happened. I had to throw together a second basket on both occasions. It was a lot of work and very stressful. WDW did compensate me for part of the cost, but not the extra labor and stress.

OP, even though you did not receive anything from the Disney Florist for you good deed, at least you know you did the right thing. Good for you!
