I saw a post similar to the one I am about to post a while ago but I Have notbeen able to find it, so sorry to the person that first posted, please consider it an extention of yours.

I just wanted to know if anyboby else has a family Disney tradition to share, here goes ours////////

The first day we get there, we usually go to the MK, and as soon as we see a CM selling Mickey's shaped silver balloon, we buy one. That marks the start of our Disney Vacation and the start of the fun fun fun Happy times.
We keep it all thrughout our stay with us, (except when it "accidentaly" floats away. ) or it gets deteriorated beyond recognition. At that point it gets quietly replaced.

 At the end of our stay we stand around the car with it and release it, Marking the end of our vacation as it floats away, and wishing to return real real soon.

Well thats it, kind of silly, but our DDs love it.

Please Share if you have any.

OUr first full day is always AK . We always have a race to Kilamanjaro safarisand eat at bomas for dinner. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We always go to Gheredellis and have a sundae on our last day. And then we do last minute shopping at DTD

Family tradition when traveling with my sister's in-laws was that we ALWAYS had to ride Small World first- even if it wasn't an MK day! My sister and I found this sooooo annoying, after all our planning, to HAVE to fulfill her MIL's request first! Well, Gram is gone now and we sooooo wish we could do that first ride on Small World with her, just one more time...but, no tears, it's WDW and Gram wouldn't want us to be upset!

ALWAYS, whether travelling with my DSis and her 2 daughters or not, with or without DH/BIL, regardless of who is with us...When approaching the Disney Gateway across the highway, someone always starts, "Here we are, in boring, boring Florida...it's so boring to be in boring, boring, old Florida (etc)." As we pass under the gate, we yell, "But now, we're in DISNEYWORLD!!!" Every trip, every time we go on to Disney property. WE've done it so frequently that last fall, the 4 year old started it..."boring old Florida..." I thought my DD, now 11, would be too "sophisticated" to do this when my MIL traveled with us, but it wouldn't be the same trip without the chant! By the end of the vacation, even Grandma Sue was yelling, "we're in DISNEYWORLD!!!"

Here goes.....

We always have to get a turkey leg somewhere in the MK.
We always take a day to shop DTD and I have to buy something from Basin each time.
We always character dine at least once.
We always buy an ornament from somewhere in WDW.
We always buy a pin somewhere in WDW.
We always hit all the parks even if we just go for a long weekend.

I'm sure there's more but I don't want you all to think we are too obsessed. :goodvibes

My DH and I started this on our honeymoon. I have about 3 pictures of my DH on the speederbike from Star Wars in MGM. Then, when our son was born, we carried on the tradition and we take a picture of DH and my DS on the speederbike on each and every trip. I have a scrapbook page that is a time line of our growing family at WDW. Now that our daughter is here, she and I have our picture taken in front of the Cinderella fountain in the MK near Tinker Bell's treasures. So far we have her and me when she was 3 months old and when we go this summer, she'll be a year. I think this will be a neat way to chronicle our family!

Well mine isn't really a "family" tradition, because I haven't gone to WDW with my family for years and years (like 10 or something). But I went in 2002, and then again in 2004, will go again in 2006 (every two years, get my drift). In 2002, we were in the AK and went to one of the stores (not sure what it's called, but I know where it is), and bought a stuffed animal there (a literal animal, pink flamingo). Again when I went in 2004 I went to the same place and bought another stuffed animal (A hippo this time). So after that I decided every trip I go to WDW I am going to buy a different stuffed animal (that resembles a real animal, not characters, not that I have problem with the characters). That's my tradition.

There are 2 constant ones we have, first I always have to get a picture of my children walking away from me in the lobby of BW. My dd is 8 and ds is now 4 and each picture (year) you can see him catching up to her in height.

Secondly, we always produce our yearly Christmas card from a picture that is noticeably from Disney. We are a family of Disney freaks and we're not afraid to let everyone else know it too.

Chef Mickey's on arrival night! It always kicks our vacation off with a big bang! :flower:

we also do Chef Mickey's on arrival evening.

The first thing we do after check in is head to MK for a ride on IASW.
The last ride before we head home is IASW.
Does me crying when we get there and when we're leaving count? :)

We always have breakfast in our room on our first morning there.(even if my wonderful hubby goes to get it, no room service at moderates) And we always eat at LTT. Those are our 2 absolutes at this time. I am sure as the kids grow, things will be added!!!

We always buy a Disney coffee mug for Daddy while we are there, and we always take a picture in front of the Partners statue.

We also always have a big "too much family togetherness meltdown" somewhere in the middle of each trip, but I don't think that counts as a tradition! :teeth:

Oh I think it does, we have the same tradition and then I tell the kids "There's no crying in Disney!" I've said it so much they now say it to each other.

IASW is always a tradition for us too. DH was very disapointed last Dec when it was closed. Can't wait for Sept to see the refurbished ride!

My family has to go to the MK on our first day. Before we ride any rides or stop for any goodies we have to have our picture taken in front of the castle. :wizard: Then, let the magic begin. ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsboy:

We must always eat at the Liberty Tree Tavern the first day we are there when we go to MK.

Starting with our dd's first trip to Disneyland, Dh buys a little legoman keychain (usually a character relevant to our trip, like a pirate last time since ds discovered Capt Hook then). When the lego guy starts to break, it's time to go back for another trip!

Also we buy the kids a new pair of Mickey Ears each trip.

Every trip my ds does the oyster thing to get a pearl. He keeps all that he collected over the years in a little canister. We always get a picture with Mickey at MGM.

A picture of all of us standing around the Native American either on Main Street or in Frontier land

A slow stroll through the tunnel under the Railroad Station [right side tunnel entering, other side when leaving] and then on up Main Street looking at all the names in the upper floor windows and window shopping all the shops on the right as you move towards the castle [we do the other side on the way out]. Then off to Liberty Square for Haunted Mansion and Hall of Presidents [unless it is EMH morning when Liberty Square is not open yet]. If it is an EMH morning we start in Fantasyland with IASWA, Peter Pan, and in the past Mr Toad's Wild Ride [have not done Pooh ride yet because we miss Mr Toad so much]. Must also spend at least an hour on Tom Sawyer's Island every trip but can be anytime during trip.

My own musts for only me
