I didn't think Roy was dead?!?! I thought he was the one trying to oust Michael Eisner?!?!

:confused3

That is Roy's son Roy or Walt's nephew (trying to oust Eisner - and he did).

Donald Duck - One of America's all- time favorite celebrities turns 71 today. He's short both in stature and temper and wears a sailor hat. He was previewed in 1934 cartoon The Wise Little Hen, the first of 128 in which he was featured. Donald's reverse charm lay in his tendency to fly into a squawking rage whenever things didn't go just right. And his long-term living arrangement with his nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie was on the cutting edge."

That wud explain the 15% off code at Disney Direct...its DONALD71

Illumination Facts:

* 12 show barges in World Showcase Lagoon launch all of the fireworks for IllumiNations
* 45,000 light bulbs are used to illuminate the countries around World Showcase
* 8 lasers are used to create the visual effects on the dancing water and the sky

Roy E. Disney is alive and well and has actually filed a law suit with Stanley Gold. Roy O. Disney has been dead for a long time. It was a Disney custom to name the first born male after the father and the middle name was the Madien name of the mother(I believe. I know it had something to do with the mother)

Did you know that garbage cans are placed every 22 steps in the MK. Research was done and found that every 23 steps a person will need to throw some kind of trash away so Disney placed garbage cans every 22 steps to eliminate littering.

I think on the illuminations tour they told us that WDW spends $100K EACH night in firework displays....AND that they sell enough turkey legs each day to pay for it!

So, with the 792 ft/gallon, the train travels roughly 17,500 ft in an hour (~3.5 miles).

Something is wrong with one of the above numbers. A train can do the loop in about 20 minutes. So that is three loops in an hour. I don't know what the actual circumference of MK is but I know it is way more than 1 mile. (3.5/3)

You'll have to take it up with Lou Mongello. :) I got it from his book.

Pleasure Island takes it's name from Merriweather Pleasure. He is a ficticious adventurer who owned the island before disappearing in 1941. According to Disney legend, the island fell into ruin, & a hurricane severely damaged the existing buildings. Imagineers cleared it out & rebuilt the island, using the original owner's passion for good entertainment to turn the old buildings into restaurants, shops, & nightclubs.

The Eiffel Tower in the French Pavillion at Epcot is 1/13th the size of the original. It appears taller due to "forced perspective."

Did you know that
1) There is no Snow White's Castle?
2) There is no Cinderella's Castle?
3) Neither is possessive, and they don't have an apostrophe-s at the end.
4) They are "Snow White Castle" and "Cinderella Castle".
Actually there is no "snow white castle" either. It is Sleeping Beauty Castle.

When you walk down Main Street, only one building, City Hall, is built entirely to full scale. This was done so they could hide the Contemporary Resort.

OK, someone has to 'splain this one to me. As you walk from the park entrance towards Main Street (going north), City Hall is on your left (towards the west), no? And the Contemporary Resort is far away on your right and a little behind you (towards the east southeast), no? So how in the Walt Disney World does City Hall block a view of the Contemporary Resort. How can a building on the left block the view of a building on the right? Is there some huge MIRROR behind City Hall???

Some people will believe anything! Or am I missing something here?

Kikipug is either joking or delirious. I know those turkey drumsticks are pretty big, but do you know how big an emu is??? If someone was eating an emu leg they'd knock people over on wither side of them. Emus are tall birds, like ostriches. I hope I'm just being a geek overreacting to a joke.

I addressed that way back on page 1. I think the poster meant Exposition Hall. :)

And they aren't emu legs. The legs come from 50 lb mid-western turkeys.

Did you know that Disney got the FAA to close the airspace above WDW after Sept 11th? This just adds to the magic as you don't even hear aircraft while on property. Man, you really are in another world!!!!

Can we confirm that this is still in effect? I see the tour helicopters flying quite low over WDW all the time. This may have been a temporary measure.

Did you know if you stand right in front of the castle at precisely noon and look at the highest spire the sun will reflect perfectly off the top spire and create a Tinkerbell shape. This was something that the Disney Imagineers toyed with and could never prefect. However, Many people have seen it.

MAYBE on a specific day of the year. MAYBE. But think about it -- the sun is in a different position at Noon every day of the year. Huge difference between June 21 and December 21. Impossible this supposed phenomenon is present every day of the year.
