WDW efforts to protect against anti-vaxxers?

With the terrifying news that Disneyland was Ground Zero for an outbreak of measles, I am wondering if WDW is taking any steps to ensure that guests are not endangered by people who refuse to vaccinate their children. I know that Southern California is a hotbed for anti-vax stupidity, but WDW draws so many visitors that you have to assume the same thing could happen in Orlando.

I know that you do not need to show immunization records to gain admission to WDW theme parks and swimming pools, but are there any steps being taken to ensure that vulnerable populations (elderly grandparents, babies too young for immunizations, immuno-compromised patients) do not become horribly ill due to proximity to anti-vax idiots? Are there any steps we can take to protect ourselves?

Oh I don't know, get immunized? And let everybody else worry about themselves?

Honestly? I think the only thing for that subset of the population you mentioned (elderly, immun-compromised etc) is to avoid places like WDW. And it isn't the proximity to unvaccinated that is the problem...it's proximity to infected people. I would also urge people who are sick (knowingly sick...flu, colds, measles, mumps, etc) to also stay home. And as others have said, we can also make sure WE are vaccinated.

It's personal responsibility to take reasonable precautions to either not get sick or not spread germs if you are sick. There is nothing Disney can do to prevent unvaccinated people from visiting. There isn't much they can do to stop the spread of sickness either. Theoretically they could try to disinfect everything every night, but realistically I don't think that feasible.

Thank you, exactly what I was going to say. There are constantly people from other countries there who can always bring things worse than measles. WDW is a breeding ground for germs with that many people. If people are worried about their immunities, dont go, because its always a possibility there.

Why should Disney have to do anything? Why can't YOU take personal responsibility to vaccinate yourself and your family? Why can't YOU u take personal responsibility to keep vulnerable family members out of environments where they are likely to come into contact with ANY communicable disease? Why can't YOU take personal responsibility to keep family members who are ill and possibly contagious out of the parks so they don't infect those they come in contact with?

Exactly. This is not even a Disney news story. This is people who have made a choice facing the consequences of their decisions.

What's worse, I even read that recently 3 people actually...

Oh, never mind. ;)

I agree.

And make sure you get a second vaccination if your first and only one as a baby was back in 60s, 70s or 80s, or earlier.

I have been plagued by allergies all my life. Every once in a while I will get a whiff of something that makes me sneeze and it is always three rather explosive sneezes about 30 seconds apart. When that happens at WDW I always get a few dirty looks from people whom I know are thinking "Dude if you are sick you shouldn't be here spreading germs". No way to explain it to everyone so I just do my best to get as far away from people as possible and cover my sneeze up as much as I can. I just wish I could figure out why it is always three sneezes, never four and never two.
