Day 3 - Friday 10/15/04
Who: Mark (me-26)
Molly (DW, 28)
Eric (DS, 2 1/2, first trip since he was 8 months old)
Haley (DD, 4.5 months)
Staying: Old Key West, first stay with our DVC points!!
Plan: Magic Kingdom
Actual:
As before we were up late and off to our bus stop between 9:30 and 10. When we got to the Magic Kingdom we got our pictures taken on Main Street, and then off to Tomorrowland. After a brief stop for fast passes at Buzz, we were off to Indy Cars. Eric was very excited to drive these little cars, and they are one of Molly's favorites as well. While they waited in the queue it began to sprinkle just a bit, but we didn't think anything about it. They finally got their little car and off they went. Well they no more left the pit area and the monsoon let loose. It poured and poured for a good 20 minutes. All this time they were slowly traveling around the track. When they finally made it back they, and everyone else getting off the ride, looked like a couple of drowned rats... We waited in the grandstands for the rain to subside and then Molly took Eric to the bathroom to ring out his shirt. I went to Mickey's Star Traders to buy them some new shirts, but of course everyone and their brother was doing the same thing... After standing line for about 30 minutes we decided to just head back to OKW for a change of clothes and a break. Once we got back everyone took a nap, and I headed out to get a late lunch/dinner for everyone and gas up our rental in preparation for it's return that evening. Once I got back the kids were still sleeping so I decided to get a little shuteye myself... We finally made it back to the Magic Kingdom around 6 or so. The weather was a little cooler this evening than it had been... When we got back I took Eric on a much better Indy car ride. Then we went back to Buzz. Molly and I rode Space Mountain, baby swap of course. I was in the back of the first car, not my preferred Then we went to find a spot to watch the 9 PM SpectroMagic parade. We got a spot by the jewelry store about 4-5 people deep, and after wards headed towards the bridge to watch Wishes. Again I loved the show! After wards Molly headed to the baby care center to feed Haley and I ran to take Eric to ride Peter Pan. The stand-by time said 20 minutes, but it was ~30-40 minutes in reality. It was funny to stand in line and listen to the different folks complain that the sign was wrong... It was probably 20 minutes, 20 minutes ago during the fireworks, but oh well we were in line and we had fun. Afterwards Eric and I headed back to get Molly and Haley, and we had just enough time to catch the last Philharmagic before the park closed... However, Molly was tired, it was getting cold, and we were going back on Sunday so we opted to just head out. We went and started to stand in line to get our pictures from earlier, but the line was too long so we opted to stop by later and pick them up.
Little back story, when we left for our return to the MK I realized I had locked my room key in the room. So before we could get back in our room we had to stop with our sleeping kids at the hospitality house and catch a ride from one of the bell hops. It turned out that he was on the college program and was from Huber Heights, a suburb of Dayton, and his parents lived a few neighborhoods from our house!! Small World... Anyway once we got back to the room I left to take our rental Van to the Car care Center. So basically I just back-tracked where we just came from. I got there only to find the Alamo door closed for the evening, I had thought they were 24 hours like an airport? Anyway, I was in a dilemma our car was due back by 10 AM on Saturday, but if I dropped the keys that night how would I get back to OKW... Well a nice "bus shuttler", drives the busses between the garage and the mechanics, said that they would get me back to OKW. He told me to wait on a bench on the backside of the building, which I did. Little did I know this would entail me getting my very own freshly cleaned Disney Transport bus, which he drove me back to OKW in... This was very nice of him, because by this time it was ~2 AM... I was greatly appreciated his help and he went right to my stop and we parted ways. Very Magical!
