We have a BCV trip scheduled for Easter and live in upstate NY. Current travel restrictions require a COVID test within three days of leaving WDW. Has anyone on this site done testing at or near WDW yet? If so, where did you get it done and what was it like (wait times, etc.)? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have not used it but there is one not far from AK. Maingate Complex and it is supposed to be quick with results.

Since it is now 10 day vs 14 days without the test in NY, I just did that when I got back a few weeks ago, I did test here after 4 days, but more so for hubby around the house!

When I go next month...hope to...I will probably do it because of upcoming appointments I will need to go to with my parents.

Ok, thanks for the info. I was contemplating not doing the test in WDW, but then my daughters would need to quarantine for the 10 days and miss school. So that went out the window. Now we are thinking of just getting to the Maingate Complex as soon as they open to get that part done quickly. We just don't want it sucking up half our day in WDW :)

I’m trying to sort out testing myself since we are around my mom who provides our childcare. Does testing at WDW/the airport seem sufficient for determining one did not pick up Covid? I know there is exposure on the plane but if it is sufficient I would really consider using the airport option. Only issue is I know it can take a few days after exposure to get a positive test. Sorry if this question is slightly off topic. There are just so many more logistics to figure out now.

I think it’s a start but I would still test a few days later once you get home. i think that is why NY has the rules they do, Test before you come and then 4 days later. If both are negative, then you are done with quarantine.

The way I look at it is that if I test negative having been there for a few days, there is a good chance I didn’t get it in WDW. Then, the the test a few days after I get home will support it as well.

As I said, this last time, I tested 3 days after I returned...I think I said 4 above...which was 6 days after I first flew...since I was feeling great, I figured it was good proof. It’s been another week and still fine.

I'm not up on requirements / guidelines. No matter where I live, if I'm worried about actually keeping my parents safe, I'm staying away from them when I get home and testing 4-5 days later.

We don't allow people back at work who have travelled unless they follow the above as well. So, everyone pretty much knows if you take a weeks vacation, you need another week for when you get home.

I did the testing at Maingate in November and have been following the thread about it on another forum. Best bet is to get there before it opens. We got there about 7:20, it opened at 8. We were done by 8:50. Took an uber there and back ($11 each way from Riviera). Who knows what April will look like but the general recommendation is to go first thing in the a.m. It is free. The test at MCO will be $65.

We just returned from WDW this past Saturday 1/23. We went to the maingate complex test site on Friday 1/22. It opens 8am, there is no appointments, it is walkup, we got there 7:30 am, there is 2 lines, one for families (2+) or single line. We were a family of 5, with 2 small children (6 YO, 3YO). When we got there, there was about 8 families ahead of us. We pre registered in which they send you a barcode they scan. About 7:50 am the National guardsmen came around to make sure you were registered and had the barcode. They opened 8am, we got to the window 8:20ish. They confirmed each member of our party, scanned the codes and gave you the swab for you to self swab, 1 by 1. We did the kids ones for them. This was the rapid test, we had our results by the time we got to Animal Kingdom parking lot which was 12 minutes away. I heard you could request the PCR test if you wanted, but most states accept the rapid so is what it is. It was quick and easy. I also used in back in sept, but then it was drivetrains up, appointment, and PCR test, got results in a day.

We did the Maingate facility the Friday before thanksgiving. Wait was 1 hour and 45 minutes at 11:00 am. Lots of people were getting tested for Thanksgiving. Not sure how long the lines are now. If you need the PCR test they can do this test. They will do the rapid test first. It was free and we had a car and went on our Animal Kingdom day.

I heard that the MCO airport will be offering testing.
Thank you for the info! I just checked and they are indeed...at terminal A. It is also $65 per test. Ooof. But reservations can be made, which is nice. The one thing to keep in mind is that the airport test is a rapid test, which have a high rate of false negatives (as well as false positives). But it checks the box if it is needed as a requirement.

Ok, awesome! How much was that test?

Ok, so there are now multiple comments that the Maingate option is pretty painless if you get there early and are preregistered. I think that is the option we will probably choose. Although, the crowds during Easter week may create a different situation there. We'll find out, I guess! Thank you for the feedback.

I wish we could use the Maingate option, but I can't verify it is part of Hawaii's "trusted" partners, so we plan to go with Walgreens, $135 per person or so? I saw that DIS team member Shaun Faulk used Walgreens rapid test for his trip to Aulani, which was super helpful because I didn't know anyone from Hawaii that has gone to WDW in the covid era & what type of testing that will be accepted by the state.
I find it interesting that ride shares are willing to take people to/from covid testing.

If you really want to make sure you didn't pick anything up while on vacation, you should quarantine for 3-5 days after returning home, and then test. This is what the schools, workplaces, etc require in my state, and it's what I've done after each of my 3 trips to FL, and I've felt more confident about my results/status. I use an urgent care by my home that generally delivers PCR results within 24-48 hours, so we've made appointments there for our desired testing date while we're still traveling. Nothing is foolproof, but I wouldn't feel comfortable seeing older relatives or sending my daughter back to pre-school unless we've followed actual CDC recommendations about exposure and testing. If you're just getting tested to check a box then the Maingate location sounds convenient. Good luck!

For anyone that has used the Disney main gate testing site; did anyone use a taxi? Just wondering if there is somewhere to drop off and then pick up a taxi after the test. We won't have a car. Thanks!

We have been told that testing at WDW or MCO is not sufficient to get us back to work (we live in MD) since we would be flying (and thus exposed) AFTER the test. That in order for our tests to be considered valid, they must be scheduled after our travelling is completed.

I'm in MD too! If you live near an AllCare Family Medicine Urgent Care (https://allcarefamilymed.com/), I highly recommend them. You can do a virtual visit with a doc anytime, tell them your travel plans, and they'll recommend a day for testing. Their Covid testing is drive-through and appointment only, so you shouldn't have to wait in line. I've used them 4 times since the onset of the pandemic. In the summer their turnaround time for results was about 3 days, but now it's down to about 24-36 hours.
