Has anyone looked at this years course maps? On the website it says new course maps. Does the course look different to anyone? To me it doesn't seem like there are as many ramps as in the past and it also doesn't look like the course does the almost ful loop areound world showcase at teh end of the marathon.

It could be that I'm just not looking at it right, so I wondered if anyone saw anything different from last's years course map?

The map show runners not going along the canal and the Yatch Club as in years past. The programs description shows that we do. Something has to give. One is right and one is wrong. Flip a coin!

According to Facebook posts, the map is probably not correct. I haven't seen anyone from Rundisney post about the map yet, so it could be speculation on the part of others. I would imagine we would still go by the BW, BC/YC, unless the race is getting too big and that's too congested (I hope that's not the case!) Hopefully Disney will say something about the map before the race, otherwise we might just find out where the road leads us on January 8th!

I too hope they dont cut off that canal part, its actually one of my favorites and is a welcome change from all the wide open highways, its never been crowded when I ran it but thats at 3:20 pace. So not sure if its more crowded later in the day. The spectating is always great around that stretch as families just come out of the hotel to cheer.

It remains the same. The artist took liberties with the course line. Otherwise, using a strict interpretation of the line, we would not run through the castle.

Besides, there is not a gate from Epcot Resorts Blvd into the back stage of Epcot.

Well, that sidewalk from DHS to BWI is pretty small...I was at the back of the pack last time, and there were still plenty of people to maneuver around. I can't imagine how crowded it must of been for the main pack.
This new map does show us doing most of the way around the WS lagoon...entering over by England and going around...isn't that pretty much the usual?

Haven't been on FB yet to see the discussion there.

i like the canal, hopefully WDWM folks were true to their word as move the water station back to the Atlantic Dance hall and off the sidewalk. If you look at how the traffic backs up, it stems from that one water stop.

Funny Charles story with the canal. My first year i blister both feet over the entire balls of the foot. That forced a weird gate which lead to a back spam issue. I took the opportunity to ue the fence between the sidewalk and canal to stretch. In the middle of the stretch I hear a "Step away from the fence!" I guess they thought I was about to swim. That race was Marathon #1 and I was as close to the Lantern Rouge as I have ever been. I am not an official finisher on some finisher lists, but have that medal....

I was not impressed with this year's maps for the full. I can't make sense of the beginning-- and I've done the half many times and the full once. Where are we going this year? It needs directional arrows along the way or something. :lmao:
