WDW Commando Club

Someone mentioned about tipping mousekeeping awhile back, I don't like to forget anyone, and will admit I've never done it, but I had no idea:confused3

So with that what do you tip mousekeeping:confused3

We do a dollar per person, and put it in an envelope with Mousekeeping on it. We do this every morning, because there maybe different Mousekeepers during our stay. At every hotel we stay at we leave a tip for housekeeping.

I also do a dollar per person and do it each morning as well. My parents have always left tips for housekeeping at any hotel we stayed at while I was growing up so I suppose I learned from them! When we used to go with my parents every year, my mom would leave $5-$7 each day for mousekeeping.

I'm always hearing that the mousekeepers get paid well hourly and that they aren't supposed to take the tips or even expect to get them, but I've never had anyone NOT take the tip.

On a different note....Disney Commando, have you heard that there is supposed to be a new monorail color added this fall? I immediately thought about the transportation cards and how they will add the Peach monorail to the set! Gotta say, the transportation cards have become my newest obsession! :worship:

Hi Commandos!

How have I missed this thread for so many years? I am gonna have to carve out some time over the next couple of weeks and catch up with you guys!

My name is Debbie (a.k.a. dcanoli) here on the disboards and twitter.

So many of you have written me for a hard copy of the Disney's Best Kept Secrets thread, and I thank you so much!

You gotta know that I am way too OCD, and I originally made the document for myself to take into the Parks and try and find all the things people were listing!

It has just grown from there, and now, it is a massive two Word documents.

(I had to break it into documents because MS won't mail it as one! It's too big!)

I've tried over the years to organize the document into Parks and then into specific areas and even tried to alphabetize it once or twice. (See, OCD...)

However, the document is many, many years old right now, and a lot of the stuff in it simply isn't true anymore...as you know, Disney is a "living" organism, and it constantly changes.

So, if you guys EVER find anything in our document that is no longer right, drop me a quick line and let me know so I can delete the information.

I am so, so appreciative of your fearless leader and all of you for requesting the document and helping me keep it going!

I can't tell you how much that means! I'm looking forward to "meeting" each of you one day in the future!

Deb
:welcome: Debbie, Glad you came to see us:yay: This would be where I would give you a member # but since I learned so much from you:teacher: Out of respect I just can't give my teacher a # :worship:(But you are officially a member:cool1:)

We are Happy to help anyway we can cleaning up the Documents:goodvibes, with any info, it's only good if you know what to do with and follow through with it, and IMO this is one group that knows how to use the info as intended:woohoo:

Looking forward with working with you, and hope you will come to our little thread often:goodvibes:yay:

sadly I have to be the plan maker. My hubby is a very go with the flow relaxed kinda guy, and with no availability for restaurants by 30 days out, I kinda have to take the reins.
I pack the bags, pick out the clothes, and plan our days accordingly. many times I've tried to get help but he so clever he says things like "you are so good at this babe, I dont wanna mes up yur perfect planning" I fall for it everytime....so I plan out our stratedgy and make my lists and all that...this upcoming trip we are going no kids so other than ADRs we have no plans :scared1:
:welcome: You are member #166:cool1: Your DH is giving you all the credit for the planning, That's Awesome:thumbsup2 If you really want to kick it up a notch read a few posts back and PM Debbie for a copy of the Documents:goodvibes

Parks opening to closing each day. All meals planned and parks too! Park Hopper so when one park closes we are off to which ever one is still open. Our room is strictly for sleeping!:disrocks:

:welcome: You are member #167:cool1: Off the bat we have 2 things already in common, 1- NJ:rolleyes1 & 2- We will both be in WDW the same time:goodvibes Where are you staying & how long will you be there:confused3

I did see that, it will be solid white for awhile before getting a peach stripe.

I was trying to figure out the 7 extra cards in the 25card set, this is what I came up with

Buses- Add The Magic Express, The Cruiseline, and I think last time we went there was another newer model bus (don't know what it's called)

Monorail- Now this pretty much blew my idea, I was thinking Tron (is noe being retired and going back to coral) but even adding the new one it would still be 12:confused3

Maybe the parking lot tram is one of them

Boats- they have so many kinds this would have to be the rest of them, :scared1: Unless they added the Cruise Ships:confused3

Very interesting, I wasn't expecting all the new ones would be all watercraft, but this might be in my favor since I've always had Great luck scoring the boats at the Transportation Booth between the buses and ferry's at the MK:cool1:

I just put together envolopes for Mousekeeping, based on the $1 per person per day (3 of us) I just made it a $5 spot per day

ROFL! The way I view Mousekeeping tipping is that it's a very minor expense compared to what your costs are for the trip itself, and it helps out the locals.

Looks like there is at least 4 or 5 Commandos that will be there at the same time:banana: We should have a mini meet if anyone is interested PM me:goodvibes

Here's something I've been throwing around the last couple days, with the Monorails shuting down 1hr after normal park closing, do you think that guests staying at the Monorail Resorts & those who would rather drive are less likely to stay for PM EMH's at MK & Epcot:confused3

:scratchin:rolleyes1:teacher: Maybe less of a crowd:confused3:banana:

I hope you decorated your envelopes! I like to put stickers of the characters on mine and have a theme for each day. For instance on a birthday celebration trip, I'll have Mickey birthday stickers one day, Winnie the Pooh the next, etc. I think mousekeeping appreciates the extra touch because we always come back to the room to find fun little extras.

I hope you decorated your envelopes!
 Please say your joking with me:scared1: The nice picture of Abe on the inside is not enough:confused3 If anyone ever saw how awesome of a artist I am, they would be happier without it:lmao:

How hard can it be??? Step 1: Go to your nearest Dollar Store and pick up some Disney Stickers (or have your DW do the honors) Step 2: Put stickers on envelopes Step 3: Give remainder of stickers to DS to have fun with. It's just that simple, this coming from an artistic person. Better yet, let your DS have fun with the stickers, and let him decorate the envelopes instead. I'm sure he'd have alot more fun with it than you.

Ron, here is a great thread with print ready graphics for Mousekeeping envelopes. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1138487

I think I'll let my DW & DS take care of the envelopes, your right they have more fun with this:goodvibes

I got to sort through over 100pgs of notes this week (Debs list, snacks, show times, meet & greets etc.) My office looks like a War Room:lmao: Like all the trips we have been on WDW it will all fold into place. My final plan will be finished on the train ride down:banana: (I do my best under last minute pressure:yay:) But IMO the Biggest thing you have to plan on are things you are not planning on, not saying that any of these things will be bad or anything, but there alot of things that can throw you for a loop, like unexpected characters out, unlisted little shows, what if it rains, unexpected heavy crowd, longer line then expected, what to do with any extra time, my biggest fear is what if the alarm does not go off and we oversleep:scared1:

So with the main plan I also make a plan B:woohoo:
