WDW Commando Club

Thanks Angela for the tips. I did not know about the 45 day thing. I can book online, but not the Fantasmic dining package - that I have to do on the phone.

Angela, looks like we will be at the World at the same time, I'll be there Aug 21-27:cool1:

- 1900 Park Fare Breakfast - Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Mary Poppins, Alice & Mad Hatter, also the dinner is Cinderella, Step Sisters, Step Mother & Prince Chraming it is also a fun time:goodvibes

- Whispering Canyon Cafe, fun place to eat never know what to expect:lmao:

- In DTD there is the T-rex and the Rainforest cafe that the kids might like

:lmao::rotfl2: It seems like the 1 non Disney day we have planned is more Disney than some do all day:lmao: How's this for a Disney down day 8am Park Fare Breakfast, 10am Storytime (Epcot), off to Seaworld, T-Rex Cafe DTD dinner and some shopping:rolleyes1 We got alot to do that day I'm kinda glad were taking a non Disney day imagine how much stuff we would have to do:lmao:

Hey! What a cool club! I think I am yet another Disney Commando. When we visited in 08, we were so thrilled to spend the whole day at the parks that we didn't leave time to properly rest. One of us got so sick, she ended up at Florida Hospital. Thankfully, this didnt happen in 09! We made sure to eat right and rest well. We love being at rope drops during EMH. That extra hour makes all the difference. Our trips to WDW are expensive, especially since we have to fly from all the way across the globe. So whenever we do get a chance to visit, we go all out and make every minute (and every cent) count!

:welcome: You are member #161:cool1: WOW 1/2 way around the globe, you have to add the whole jet lag factor, there has got to be a huge time difference:scared1::scared1: That extra hour does make a huge difference, it doesn't really matter where you start in that hour, it's where you end up at the end of it:woohoo:

Thanks, Disney Commando! Yeah. The jet lag is something else! It hits us really badly about 36-48 hours after we arrive in Orlando. During our last trip, I was so tired at about 5p.m. (we were at DHS), that I was literally dozing off while strolling around in the park. It was terrible. We left DHS early that day and crashed almost as soon as we got back to our resort.

:wizard: I just checked my ticker and I can't believe we're down to 1 month!!! Can I start packing???

Nice score:cool1: And Thanks for the update, you made my night:worship:I love the challenge of getting the cards:woohoo:

This is kind of random but I knew you would understand my excitement Disney Commando!! Earlier this week I sat down to look at the transportation cards I got from my trip last month (Sadly, I hadn't actually taken time to sit and read everything on them!) and I got so excited because I thought I'd been given 4 of the red monorail cards but realized that it's actually 2 red, a green, and a yellow!! :woohoo: :yay: I still only have 7 out of all of the 25 cards but this little surprise brightened my stressful week! Gotta love WDW!! :thumbsup2

Just back from our week in VA (got to do Commando warm ups at Busch Gardens & Wild Water Country USA:woohoo:)

I am excited on your WDW Transportation card find, and for 1 other reason:confused3

For the last couple of years there has been talk on adding to the cards (25 was the amount talked about):woohoo: All the ones I have part of the 18 card collection, if you have 7 out of 25 that would mean a whole new set:cool1:
It tells you on the back how many cards are in the set (ex 6 of 18 etc)
I really hope they added new cards, I'll have to start a whole new mission:goodvibes

Yes, this is definitely the new series! All of the 7 cards I have say X# of 25! From what I understand, the 18 card series has been retired but I'm not sure as of when or if that's for sure true. I have cards 1, 3, 4, 5,18, 23 and 24 out of 25 cards!

Thanks Dave

Commando #1,
Can you tell me a bit about these cards? This sounds like something my husband would love to do.

I'm sure your husband would like them:cool1: 1st off they are not easy to get, so you might have to go through alot of transportation CM's to score some:eek: Big Tip - just ask if they by chance have any Transportation
Cards, try to get the CM on the side, so no one hears you ask (if they have some, they don't have alot:scared1:) It's like getting Top Secret info from a spy:lmao:

The breakdown on the 18 card set was

3 Bus
3 Boat
12 Monorail (only 10 have been availible since the accident the 2 involved were retired)

I have no idea of the breakdown of the new 25 card set (I should know when I get back next month:woohoo:)

Rule of thumb is you will only get a bus card from a bus CM, Monorail from a Monorail CM & boat from a boat CM:cool1:

If you google WDW Transportation Cards, you will be able to see what they look like & maybe more info:goodvibes

Now that I'm in the last few weeks before the trip I'm getting spending cash together, but like everything else I had a plan where I could round up the needed spending money without taking a hit in the wallet, this is how I did it:confused3

I use the envelope system, each day has its own envelope with needed funds for the day.

Each envelope contains 3 $25 WD GC (1 for me, wife & son) this will buy any little things we want during the day, plus $20 cash for ADR tip (1-$10 1-$5 5-$1) covers tip for up to a $100 check at 20%

Source of revenue - B-Day, Christmas cash, loose change, yard sale, product rebates - every time I hit $25, I get a $25 GC until we all have one for everyday, then it goes to tip money, we are doing T-rex Cafe & Harmoney Barbershop so money has been put aside also for that:woohoo:

Not everyone will have the same amount they need for the day, some might have more kids, more ADR's etc, but if you know you are going 9months to a year out this should not be a big issue as long as you cash in every $25, best part is since it's a long term strategy you don't feel it in the pocketbook:cool1:

Anyone else have some spending cash strategies:confused3
