WDW christmas parade overkill

I enjoyed the whole thing but I do think that for someone watching who knows nothing about legacy FP or the new FP+ they sure made it seem like the new FP+ system was something AMAZING to behold. It was pretty misleading.

I actually thought they showed more of the parade and acts this year than they did last year. It was still an infomercial, but I remember last year thinking there was practically NO parade shown and I didn't feel that way this year. I loved NPH. I thought it was pretty cute this year. We were laughing pretty hard during the NPH stuff with certain other characters during the credits.

I did about jump through the TV when Samantha started making it sound like you could easily park hop and ride whatever you wanted with FP+. As everyone here knows- you can only use FP+ in one park per day and she certainly made it sound like that was not the case. It also cracked me up that NPH was trying to sell band-its and Samanta was trying to sell band covers (neither of which I hear are selling very well). I found that WAY more irritating than the parks, cruise, resort sales pushes.

Lol we thought the MB FP+ thing to be overkill. We felt like Samantha brown said FP+ every other word. It was a running joke in our house. "Oh you can get more waffles with FP+" "you can now open presents with FP+" "you can go to sleep with FP+"

Wow! You guys all complain about how stupid and uninformed people are for not using fast pass and and wonder why Disney doesn't do more to educate people and then complain when Disney puts out information about the fast passes. :confused3

I think that some people are being critical because the FP+ information was so misleading. :confused3

I watch hoping for a peek at the new things at Disney. I love watching the Christmas parade, it is a tradition. It got me in the mood to look for airfare for our trip to Disneyland in June.

I am not a Neil Patrick Harris fan, but I thought the opening number was fantastic. I can't imagine how many times they had to do it. If you watch the sky during the 2 hour parade, you can tell when things were cut, re-done, etc.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE. Happy New Year too!

We concur with our fellow southern Ocean County poster!

All the best. :thumbsup2

I taped the parade since we were traveling - I loved the parts about the parks and actually fast forwarded though some of the musical numbers.

It made my DD and I wait to go back now and DH say that he wouldn't mind going back.

I don't count myself as someone who complains about "stupid and uniformed people not using FP" but I have to ask, did you believe that the information was accurate? Because someone who doesn't know the "real deal" will think the FP+ system is something FAR more wonderful than it is, and many of them wont find out otherwise until they have spent many thousands of dollars on a WDW trip. At least for now, the FP+ system is NOT how is was presented today.

I understand that it isn't possible to do an in depth technical demonstration including all the nuances in 15 seconds. Never-mind needing to keep it entertaining so people don't get bored and change the channel. I just thought the reaction in this thread was funny considering what the prevailing opinion seems to be here at DISboards about general ignorance of fast pass use.

While they were certainly overhyping it, I don't recall anything they said that was factually incorrect. Or to put it another way, I don't think they were overhyping it any more than they did for anything else during the program.

I agree that it was just a big disney commercial. Was fun to watch with my kids though. Got us even more excited for our disney world trip in just 10 more days!

Trust me in the fact that I love seeing the parks! But bringing in Samantha Brown was my limit. Love her and her disney shows but it's suppose to be about Christmas!

My issue was with Nick Cannon. I cannot stand him, he is so annoying. Neil Patrick Harris was great! I LOVED the opening!! :woohoo:

I start the show 1/2 hour in, and whip past the commercials on my Tivo, so I did not notice them at all. :lmao:

Yes the information was accurate. It was placed in the best possible light, but what product isn't in any commercial! Now some would not be satisfied it was accurate unless it contained a tearful hat-in-hand Iger crying and apologizing and admitting it was a failure. Many people who have used magic bands, including myself, would say it is accurate.

Correct. Standard advertising procedure. Nothing factually inaccurate.

I don't think there is one single thing "Disney" that could be posted here on the DISboards without someone saying it is horrible or they can't stand it.

That's pretty dramatic!:lmao:
I am referring to the accuracy of the representation of the FP+ system, not the magic bands (it is possible to have a MB and be clueless about the FP+ at this time).
While I have my concerns as to how this will all shake out when legacy is gone for good, I can say that I HAVE used the magic bands (10 days in Nov) as well as the FP+ system and was generally impressed and I certainly don't think it will be a failure.
The above has NOTHING to do with the fact that as the current FP+ system goes, today was a misrepresentation of how it really is. I don't see how someone can say it wasn't, but I guess we all perceive things differently.

What was factually inaccurate about what they said about FP+? While my memory is perfect, I don't remember them saying anything that wasn't true. You are correct, however, the perception colors everything.

That wasn't 15 seconds. Actually is was closer to 3 minutes straight before someone wasn't saying something about FP+. Samantha could have at least changed outfits between parks. It would have made it more believable. Or maybe she can just afford a lot of yellow dresses. :confused3 I don't know.

It was misleading, if nothing else. In that same segment they showed FP+ for FOTLK that is going to be closed for the next half year, the Yeti actually working, park hopping with FP+, being able to do it "from home" (but no mention of having to stay onsite), you can change it on the fly, blah blah blah. No mention of not being able to book the headliners in 50% of their parks or that you are limited to a finite number of rides per day per park (whatever that ends up being). And then there was the "50" mph Mine Train. :lmao:

I was made fully aware that I can bling my band out 7 which ways from Sunday more than once. DOOM brought it up earlier....there should have at least been some small print or an asterisk or something.

I find it funny that Disney couldn't even be straight up about what this thing is going to be while being on one of the biggest stages of the year. I'm sure it's because even they have no idea now. If this was going as smoothly as "half" the people here report then this would be in full effect already. You have "half" the Disney population that haven't even had an opportunity to play their Reindeer games yet (unless you count AK....the least attended park at WDW). I did find out it's coming in 2014...really? Without having tested half of their audience? It sure sounds "magical".

The only thing that could have made it better would have been if NPH was wearing a purple MB. The end all be all....

So they didn't say anything wrong, they just didn't say what you wanted them to say in the allotted time frame. They still said nothing incorrect.
