I got an allears.net newsletter today that suggested that it may be cost-saving to fly into Tampa and rent a car from there rather than fly into Orlando and rent a car from there. My inlaws are flying and meeting us at Windsorhills and we are driving. They have already checked into the costs from Austin to MCO and renting a car. I wonder if it is worth mentioning that it might be cheaper to fly into Tampa and rent a car there. BTW we are driving in and it won't be our problem. I hate to make them change their research and plans on a whim.... Thanks guys!!!! Oh and they usually use continental, don't know if this may change things but I am totally unfamiliar with anything other than DFW!!!!

I always check, especially if I can't get a "good" price to Orlando.

Pros: Smaller airport, usually quicker to get in a rental car and be on the road, sometimes cheaper, no tolls if memory serves

Cons: Longer and less interesting drive, sometimes cars are more expensive so it can negate any savings, fewer flights from many hubs

The cost saving is about $50 rt and you need to factor in gas to and from so in the end it may be a wash for the two of them.
