We arrived at MCO (Orlando's airport) on Thursday, May 18 at 4:00 p.m. For the four days we've been (this post is as of Monday, May 22, 2 p.m.), here are the selected numbers we have decided to track:

Airport to BC via DME - 1'20"
Average wait for a bus - 73"/9 rides
Miles Walked - 24.5
Displays of Aggressive Parenting (DAPs) - 5*
Waiting for counter-service meals - 60"/3 meals
Waiting to be seated (w/ ADRs) - 35"/4 meals
Times involved in pedestrian/stroller collision - 0
Times my DS9 said "Blizzard Beach" on the shuttle ride from BC to AK/Blizzard Beach despite the fact we're not going to Blizzard Beach - 9
Times my DD4 has broken down and cried about something - too many to count
Highlight of Trip - HDDR
Lowlight of Trip - boat ride after HDDR to MK**
----------
*including the ultimate DAP of "I'll give you something to cry about!"
**thousands of little moth-like bugs flying around the dock lights and subsequent boat lights terrified my daughter. DS9 was separated from (though still visible to) wife and me on a very crowded boat.

what awesome numbers.......thanks for the update.....My grandson was terrified of bugs and would scream so loud people thought he was being attacked...this was because of me of course when a grasshopper jumped and landed on my shirt front.....I jumped and screamed a little and he was worse then me........hope you had a good time

It's been over a year since I've been on the DISboards. I forgot about this thread. I couple of things come to mind:

  • This was a good experience that the kids still talk about.
  • Disney met very high expectations.
  • DS9 (turned 10 the week after we went to WDW) was at the perfect age. This summer he started growing his hair longer (gotta be a little more hip/cool now that he's in middle school), and to see his short hair in with Mouse Ears is priceless.
  • DS4 insisted on walking days 1 and 2, and this made her tired too quickly. After we insisted on the stoller on day 3 everything started going better. Next summer when she's 6/almost-7 would have been a perfect age.

I really obsessed about this trip, but in the end the huge amount of time and huge amount of money was worth it.
