Just got a call from CM Cousin who got word this morning that WDW appears to be taking Hurricane Frances VERY seriously and may even begin cancelling some reservations for the upcoming weekend !!

Message from Garcia -- Call before you go!!!!

Disney hasn't announced any of their usual steps in preparation for a hurricane yet.

So we all have to keep waiting and watching.

and may even begin cancelling some reservations for the upcoming weekend !!

I just called (I may a few phone calls based on things I've read here), and expressed to the CM, that this is info I need to know before I leave. She was REALLY surprised and put me on hold for a bit. She came back and said no ressie's have any plans of being cancelled. I certainly would think they would have to let people know before they leave to come down.

I am scheduled to be there from 9/4-11. No reservations are being cancelled and was informed that if I can't make it in from NY to Orlando because of MCO closing, I would be considered a no show and the reservation will cancel itself. I can reschedule the vacation or get a refund. The 48 cancellation policy will be waived for this instance (Mean old "Frances"). The airline (Jet Blue) has not cancelled any flights yet but will also waived it's change fee if you make a change between now and Monday. :Pinkbounc

We are arriving 9/8. Do you think things should be safe by then????

Yes, you should be OK. Of course, it depends on what type of damage might be caused by Hurricane Frances. We left the Aug. 17th for WDW and things went very smoothly. I was worried too but all was fine.

I dont think we will know till Sunday how long it will take for Orlando to be safe. I am hoping the best it could still go out to sea right???

I just called WDW and changed my reservations from 9/4-9/7 to 9/10-9/14. BF and I have until the 15th in FL so luckily, since we are staying with his parents for the remainder of our trip, we were able to change our reservations from this weekend until next weekend.

The CM that I spoke with was very nice and explained all of the procedures and stuff about what they are doing for guests. I'm glad that they had the availability for next weekend. Hopefully, Frances doesn't do much damage but since I was able to make the change, I'd rather be safe than sorry...or soggy if you will!! ;)

If you haven't arrived at WDW yet, seriously consider that there may be two days that no parks are open. (Maybe more, maybe less).

Although you can cancel, nights that you actually stay will almost certainly not be refunded.

Bring snacks to nibble on. During the hurricane you may not walk from the room to the food court or back unless there is an interior corridor connecting the two.

If you reschedule as opposed to cancel and rebook, they might leave annual pass or other promotional rates in place. Ask only if they begin talking about that subject in the form of proposing a higher rate.

When you reach someone's voice mail, are you often guilty of sending an empty envelope?

For arrivals betwee 9/1 and 9/6 the cancelation penalty has been waived.

You can reschedule but discounts and rooms are subject to availability.
