WDW AP holder here, if I add DLR to my AP how does this work? and benfits?

Op here..

We re-new our passes in January next year, if we go this route. We will be planning 2 trips at least to make it more cost effective... One with the DD and her little family, and one just DH and I possibly for Christmas. We only would carry it for one year then back to our normal level of pass.

Traveling Sunday thru Thursday is not a big problem for us and is really better.

We always renew in person at Disney Springs is under 10 minutes from our house, and we go all the time..so not an issue.

With the discount on food... is it like here (WDW) were only at lunch time for some restaurants the discount is accepted, or not at all... My question is do they honor it at all meals all the time? as well as QS ( quick serve or counter serve) locations are includes as well?

I think I am going to have to really dig in and figure out what this plan is going to cost overall.... Frist trip - Airfare for 5 round trip, car service round trip, and hotel and food for all of us.... So I will see what I can find... then a second trip for DH and I again with all the same arrangements.

Benefits: no blackout days, parking, Maxpass (vs paying $10/day or $75/year-includes photos), discounts. The discounts are 20% on merchandise and 15% on food. For food, pretty much all permanent locations have discounts (Table service and quick service), it’s just the movable carts and stands which don’t have discounts. There are often room discounts, but only Sunday-Thursday, and I’m not sure availabilities. Sometimes special AP merchandise or areas where you can get a free button or something.

The one thing about DLR vs. WDW, when it comes to the any Food Discounts, most of the Cast Members automatically ask if you have any Annual Passes or DVC membership. Unlike WDW, where you almost have to mention this to the cast member.

Also, unlike WDW, they actually scan your AP and check your ID every time. It’s because there are different levels of discounts (5% less for lower levels of AP) so they have to make sure the right one applies.

The only restaurant to beware of because they don't offer an AP discount is Napa Rose in the GCH. They used to offer a discount when they first opened, but not any more (which is strange because they are high end and the bill can be $$$). We've seen some parties get caught off guard because they were drinking and eating quite freely based on an assumed discount that doesn't exist. Not such a pleasant way to end an evening.

AP discounts are pretty common at DLR. The stands as someone mentioned don't do discounts, and that includes the cozy cones. Starbucks and Ghiradelli give discounts too, though Ghiradelli won't take a Disney Rewards card or gift card because they aren't owned by Disney. Several locations in DTD also give discounts. Even some non Disney hotels nearby give AP discounts.

Wow... that's great....I will have a lot to sift through...and DH and I will have a lot to discuss... Thanks for the info.

I agree with the WDW food discount....We always ask at the beginning of the meal, then remind the server at the end of the meal... but it would really be nice not to have to ask, or remind the server. Also what we found out that a lot of the servers will say we don't take it at dinner, or no we don't, when we have used it before at the same restaurant. It just not consistent across the board... that's why I was asking again for more clarification... really consistency.

Thanks for all the info

That happens a lot here at WDW, we learned to ask about the discount at the beginning of the meal, some restaurant only take it at lunch, some both lunch and dinner, some of the buffets take it for breakfast only, or some don't take it at all. As well as with the QS, when we have stayed at POFQ ( Port Orleans French Quarter) they do not have a Table service restaurant, so we have gotten to use our discount there, and when they were remodeling the TS restaurant at CBR (Caribbean Beach Resort) we were allowed us to use the discount in the QS. But again not consistently.
