WDW and strollers, how does this work?

Ok, I know this is a bit of a generic question, but I have a few specific examples that I would like to know about.

1) Do they allow strollers on the Disney Railroad? (We are thinking of bringing an umbrella stroller as well as a large single stroller).

2) Do they allow strollers on the gondolas (I can't remember the name) since this takes you across the park? (frankly, I should also ask if they still exist)

Thanks,
middlepat

The gondolas are long gone.

Strollers on the railroad. No.

Plan on leaving your stroller parked - a lot. They are also not allowed in lines for rides, inside rides (even things like Hall of Presidents) and often aren't permitted in restaurants (sometimes they'll let you bring in a stroller with a sleeping infant if it isn't busy). Shops in Epcot's World Showcase are usually stroller free.

If you have a personal stroller, then you can just fold it up and take it with you. If you rented a Disney stroller, you will take your name tag out and leave the stroller. You can pick up another stroller at the location you exit.

I am not aware of any gondolas that take you across the park (assuming you are talking about WDW and not Disneyland).

Tip we learned the hard way:
Don't park it at the living seas! We carried the little ones inside, only to find everyone else strolling inside!

Thanks for this thread, i have been wondering about bringing my stroller with me for my 9 month old daughter.

Question:

When you purchase a lot of things and leave it all in a parked stroller outside of a ride, is it all still there?? i don't mean to be untrustworthy but when you trust too much is when you tend to be had...thank you!

Don't leave things in strollers. Most of the time it is still there, but Disney is not so "magical" as to make crime unknown. You can purchase things and have them shipped back to your onsite resort or pick them up at the front of the park when you leave.

We always take a stroller and rent a double. When it comes to the railroad, if we don't have too much junk in the stroller we will fold it and jump on the train. If it would be more a pain to empty the stroller, someone usually will just push the stroller while the others ride the train.

You can push the strollers right onto the monorail and lots of other places. The only times you will need to fold is on the tram from the parking lot, buses, etc and the railroad.

I always leave my valuables in my stroller COVERED very well, and never had anything stolen. Maybe I've just been lucky!

Unfortunately, we learned the hard way that you can't be too trusting!
We were in EPCOT last week and while visiting the Norway area, left two shopping bags in our stroller. We had debated about doing this, but all the other strollers around where we parked where filled with stuff - shopping bags, diaper bags, fans, etc etc.
When we went to retrieve our stroller, our bags were gone.

We went to Guest Relations, but the staffer from France was less than helpful. He told us that was why Disney provided lockers and if we were careless enough to leave things in a stroller, they were not responsible. We asked if they couldn't check the security camera since we knew exactly when and where the theft happened, but he told us that "Disney does not have security cameras."
There was only about $50 worth of merchandise lost, but it still put a damper on the rest of our day.

Thanks for the thread! I will definitely get a locker first thing upon entering the parks and periodically add purchases etc. to it. I would rather not lug all the toddler stuff around all day anyway.

I did not have a child in a stroller but I did take my SILs kids on the Disney railroad with a stroller. She had a stroller that was not an umbrella stroller and I really struggled with it when I went on the railroad at Animal Kingdom by myself. I don't think anyone would touch things like your diaper bag or anything like that but I would never leave purchases in my stroller, or a camera or anything like that. If you stay on resort send packages back to the room. You can also pick them up at guest services at the end of the day. No reason to carry around your packages.

Will guest services hold purchases for those staying off property?

Maybe the store would, or as stated, they do have lockers you can put stuff in. If it's a large purchase, maybe get it on the way out so you dont have to lug it around?

If I read this correctly, the package pickup can be used by any park guest, even if staying off property

You can have the store send the pkg to the front of the park and pick it up on your way out. We've done this when staying off property and its nice to know you don't have to carry it around or worry it will be lost (or broken) while you're touring the park.

If you're staying on property you can have it delivered to your resort and pick it up in the gift shop the next day.

Oh and about the Living Seas - if you're going to ride the Nemo ride, then yes you do need to leave your stroller outside.
