Hi,
Are there restaurants/pubs on WDW property (besides ESPN) where we'll be able to watch the big bowl games the first week in Jan? I know we could stay in our room, but.....
Thanks!!

GO PSU!

Kera'sMom:

Last year DH, DD and I were at WDW when our beloved Eagles were in the playoffs. This year we will be at the bowl game wherever our beloved NITTANY LIONS play!!! Go State

ESPN was CRAZY!!! Big River Grille on the BoardWalk also televised the games and it was not as crowded. We ended up leaving DH at ESPN to bring take out back to our villa at BoardWalk.

DisneyJen,
Go Lions!!! We planned our WDW trip in August, and who'd a guessed that we'd have such an amazing season! We've had season tickets for PSU games for years, and while we expected to be better this year, we NEVER expected to be THIRD!!! We were kinda bummed that we'd already made WDW plans, 'cause I think we would have gone to the bowl, too. Actually, we might change our plans if Texas or USC lose today.... . :) OR, we might just interrupt our trip for a drive down to Miami....

We have similar plans to yours last year, it seems. We're staying at BWV, too, so the Brewery sounds great.

I don't know the details but if you will have a car the restaurant or bar at Wide World of Sports is supposed to be great for watching games.

GO BLUE!!!! My husband is an alum too! :cool1:

We were hoping either Texas or USC would lose. If not for that one second in the Michigan game......

I forgot about Wide World of Sports :earseek: Good idea!

A side trip to Miami might be interesting ... more interesting of course if Virginia Tech would have won. We are sort of bummed that it is #3 Penn State against #22 Florida State ... but hey it's a bowl baby :cool1:

We're considering that side trip to the Orange Bowl... :)

Yeah, we, too, were bummed about playing #22--not really fair, but that's the way the $$ roll. The only problem is that now everyone will make it about the coaches! And yes, my hubby and I were talking about the fact that in the past few years, we would have killed to go to the Orange Bowl! Funny what a good season will do to you!

Hey, Is Wide World of Sports accessible by Disney Transportation, or will we have to get a cab to go there?

Thanks! Go Lions!

We aren't sure what we are doing at this point as DH wanted the game to matter ... sheesh...

Anyway, you can take a bus to Wide World of Sports. I think you have to pick it up at the Ticket and Transportation Center.

Not sure where to watch the game, but just wanted to say we have Orange Bowl tickets (we get them every year). I'll be rooting for the Nittany Lions. I'm a Gator and hate the Seminoles. I hope you crush them like we did. It does stink that the Lions don't get to play a better team.

All Star Cafe is at Wide World of Sports. They have at least 8 TV's on the wall AND they accept reservations except during Atlanta Braves Spring Training.

Just wanted to say have fun whatever you decide. I don't know what happened to the Hokies, I think the Vicks are allergic to Florida State. They both mounted a comeback but too little too late. This year we had trouble with the state of Florida all together. The Orange Bowl is a lot of fun, better than the Gator Bowl, well both were a lot of fun, the Orange Bowl was a lot warmer and the beaches are better. I've found that it can also be a lot of fun to watch the big games on TV and bond with strangers, almost as much fun as being there and a lot cheaper. Any way Go Hokies! There's always next year.

If you are staying on property, you might want to check out the bar in your resort.

I know on Saturday the Territory Lounge at the Wilderness Lodge had the FSU-VT game on. Plus it is a BCS bowl with a Florida team, so they will probably have it on.

Good advice FSUGrad. I bet it will be on in all the lounges.

And congratulations to your team, too! :cool1:

It actually worries me that Penn State is playing a FL team. It makes it almost a home game for FSU.

Are you sure there is a bus to Wide World Of Sports, Disney Jen? If so, I suppose either the TTC or DTD is the most likely spot for it.

Thanks all for the information! We'll be checking it out, of course, when we get down there on Jan. 1. The rub, now, is that we have an 8-year-old (actually, she'll be 9 on Jan 2!), and the Orange Bowl is on late. We might just end up watching in our BWV studio, although I think we'll keep our dd up with cheering (hopefully) or yelling! Or, we'll just be bad parents and keep her up at some establishment like Wide World of Sports or ESPN or...

BCV23: It worries me, too, about playing a Florida team, although from what I hear from my PSU friends, the bowl packages are selling well in Happy Valley!

FSUgrad: Here's to a good game! Thanks for the info about hotel lounges!

cwnHokie: We were routing hard for you guys on Saturday...Oh, well! There's next year! Glad to hear the Orange Bowl is fun! My neice is in the PSU band, and they're not thrilled about not getting to perform at half-time, but I think they'll have fun on the beach! :)

SRFRGRL: Thanks for letting me know about reservations at WWOS! We'll look into it!

Disney Jen: I hope you guys go to the Orange Bowl--we could use all the cheering PSU fans we can get!!!!

Have a good one everybody!

The Outer Rim at the Contemporary has a bunch of TV's and they always have football on when I am there on Sunday afternoon's. It is one of the few hotel lounges that are open in the early afternoon.

There is bus service to Wide World of Sports via the Ticket and Transportation Center and I think at DTD.

We decided last night to not go to the Orange Bowl ... actually there was a group of 20 of us and we all decided not to go. I am a little sad about it ... but I figure we will be in WDW the next weekend.
