Wdw 8 months pregnant???

As someone who has experienced more than one complication between 32 and 40 weeks, I would not be comfortable being more than a few hours drive from home.

Yep. I went both pregnancies in the mid 20s (like 24-25 weeks) and had no problems. But with my 2nd DS my water broke at 36w completely out of the blue. I would not travel that far past about 32-33 for my comfort level.

I went in all three of my pregnancies, but never more than 6 months along. The first one was the most difficult because we were trying to keep up our normal pace, I think, although I was the furthest along during that trip. Once I had little ones, the pace was much slower and not difficult at all. Not sure about 8 months. I definitely would ask my doctor's opinion.

Hi everyone. We just found out we are expecting again and we have a WDW trip planned for May. I will turn 8 months pregnant while there. It is DH myself and our will be 3.5 yo dd. I went when I was pregnant with her but I was only 20 week along then. My DH and I are wondering if we should go since we won't go back until the baby is over a year old or will I be too far along to do anything. Let's just pretend that the dr says I am fit to go and fly no issues there and my airline allows it (already checked). We take rest breaks in the afternoon and nap or swim. We get to the parks early and stay until lunch then go back later for dinner and a show if we are all up to it.

So anyone with experience going late in pregnancy? Did you do any rides like dumbo or small world? Did you fit? Lol

Can you push the trip up or back? My OBGYN was very hesitant to let me fly past 36 weeks (I had a business trip I should have gone on) even though the airlines would have allowed it and I had no complications at all.

I did go pregnant twice- once at about 15 weeks and the other at 20. I was fine both times but felt sick on the flights even though I was past morning sickness by that point.

I also have gone with a six week old baby and a five month old. Both trips were great. Babies at Disney are easy to manage in my opinion. So, if you push into the fall maybe that could work?

I really wouldn't go. What if you have a health issue such as pre-eclampsia, or go in to pre-term labor? I have had 2 babies 4 weeks early. You just don't know what will happen.

I will be 33-35 wks along (just checked my calendar lol). And there is no way to move the trip up as we bought airfare in August for this trip. I think we will wait a while to make a decision. See what our dr says and how I feel closer to when I would have to cancel (end of March). I really appreciate all the responses. I have thought about complications and going early and I am concerned even though I had none of this with the first one. That doesn't mean much though.

No way would I want to go for various reasons - it is 'plenty' hot and humid in May, I was very uncomfortable at that stage, and I would never want to take the chance my baby could come a few weeks early and I'd have it with a strange Dr., in a hospital/state so far from home. My baby (myself & family) would come first before any planned vacation. Disney will be there.

Things can go great, then turn at the last minute - one of mine did - there's no guarantee, and I would just take the safer route. JMO

All the best with your second little bundle of joy! :goodvibes

Having had 3 kids, I can tell you each pregnancy is different. With the 1st I was great. I was still working at a pre-school and I was 2 weeks late. I worked all day on a friday and then rode the bookmobile route that evening and had the baby the next day. With #2, it was a hard pregnancy and no way would I have been up to a trip like that. I couldn't even work with this one. With #3, I worked until the day before my c-section unloading cases of snack from huge skids in the back rooms of grocery stores, I was a sales-rep for a snack company and had to go back to work at 5 weeks. No way I could have done that with #2.

I guess the point I was trying to make was even if you had a easy time the first time, there is always the chance the next one won't be as easy.

Every pregnancy, for me, got harder by a month. For example, with my 2nd, at 7 months, I felt the same as I did at 8 months with my first, but with my 3rd, I felt 8 months by my 6th month (and with my twins, I just felt horrible). I probably could have suffered through going 8 months pregnant with #1, but not the rest - no way.

For me I had a picture perfect healthy pregnancy... but for no apparent reason my water broke at 34 weeks and had to deliver that day. With that being said I wouldn't risk being away from home that late in my pregnancy, especially since my daughter stayed in the nicu for 2 weeks. I couldn't begin to imagine if that had happened out of state. I would however change my plans to go to Disney a month or 2 after the baby is born. When you have a newborn that is surprisingly one of the most easiest times to go because you can wear your baby and go to town.

I went to WDW with a 2 1/2 year old when I was 6 months pregnant with my twins, so while it wasn't late in the pregnancy, I was slightly bigger than a singleton pregnancy. I will say I was somewhat miserable walking around, but we also went in July and it was pretty hot. I found it easier to push my son's stroller because it gave me something to lean on, I drank a lot of water and took breaks whenever I needed them. Sometimes DH would take DS on a ride and I'd sit down in the shade and wait for them. I was able to go on a variety of rides including Dumbo, It's a Small World, and the Toy Story ride at Hollywood Studios without any issues. I know I went on others as well, I just can't remember them right now. :) We also alternated early mornings and late nights....if we were at a park until 8pm one night, then we had a lazy morning the next day and didn't rush to get to a park. If we had an early morning breakfast reservation at a park, we had dinner at our resort restaurant and had an early night. Finding that balance was a big help for me, and it gave DS a break too.

If you have to fly, you may need to get permission from your OB since it's that late in the pregnancy. If they are ok with you going and you feel up to it, then I wouldn't hesitate. Just listen to your body and take breaks when you need to.

I'm local so I do not have the same experiences when visiting the parks - but I did visit MK during Week 39 and did just fine for about a 5ish hour visit. Lots of water, and rested in shade. I would hit a point after lots of walking where I felt myself waddling, that was my cue to call it quits for the day. I only have the 1 child, so adding a toddler into the mix will certainly be another level of excitement.

Have a great trip!

Like PP, I'm local as well and took many trips during my pregnancy. I went 5 days before my due date and survived 2 parks that day. Lots of water and taking it easy. My oldest was 2 at the time so DH would take him on some rides while I had a snack and relaxed.

But, I'm only an hour away from Disney so if something happened, I was close to home. I'd be a little more concerned being so far from home and adding travel on, you'll probably be very tired. Maybe take an earlier trip or like others said wait until the baby's born. We took youngest DS at 6 weeks and he slept the whole time in the baby sling.

I agree with the PPs advising caution, and wanted to add to check your insurance coverage. Mine had restrictions on whether it would cover deliveries outside my home area during the third trimester.

Hi, I just want to share that flying in the third trimester can cause preterm labor. It is not a risk you should take. They also say that the second child comes sooner than the first. Try calling the airline and explaining your situation, if you get a doctor's note, they can waive the change fee. It just won't be safe for you. I wanted to go to Disney in May as well for Mother's day but I will be around 30 weeks. So since its in the third trimester I won't. Second trimester is the "honeymoon" phase of pregnancy, try to go then!! :)

I had super easy pregnancies. On my due date with DD2, I was chasing DD1 around at a local farm, a park and Little Gym class. I still would not want to risk being at Disney at 32+ weeks pregnant. The thought of going into labor and delivering a preemie in another state where I don't have family is terrifying IMO.

I went in April at 30 weeks pregnant, but that is probably the latest during a pregnancy I would go. I had no real issues. I got tired easily of course and had to rest more than usual. I probably wouldn't have flown after that point either.

My parents live just over an hour away from Disney so I have family in the area if god forbid something happened.
We have decided to wait for now and make a decision in March based on how I'm feeling and what our drs think.
Thanks everyone for your experiences!
