OK, I've never taken a creative writing course nor do I think I'm that witty, so here's our trip report just like it was!!

Me 30 something, 6th time to WDW, haven't been since 98
DH 30 something, 3rd time to WDW, haven't been since 98
DS 3 1/2 first time to WDW
DD 21 months first time to WDW

Left PHL on a rainy morning. No problems with the flight, the airports were a little tough with two young ones and just me and DH, but we managed.

Get our SUV at Alamo and we're off. I was very nervous about Alamo because I've read a lot of negative on the boards. Well, we had no problem what so ever. They asked about insurance and I told them my own covers everything. No problems, picked a car and left. No line either, maybe 5 minutes.

We were headed to Super WalMart and to get something to eat. The directions on Allears are great. Don't take I-4. Anyway, we ate and actually wound up at Target. Got some lunch items, juice, water snacks, things like that. I wish my Target was like this one. One stop shopping.

Off to CBR. We stayed here for our honeymoon 7 years ago are really liked it, so we are here again. Now when I first made our reservations through a T/A our whole eight days was together, one reservation. The the discounts came out. So now we have two reservations, one for 10/21-23 and the other from the 23-29th. We saved like $350, and my T/A said everything would be the same no problems. I knew from reading these boards there was a posibility we would have to change rooms and double checked with the T/A that our tickets started the day we arrived, the first reservation. She assured me did. So I check in and give Tom my hotel vouchers. He says to call call Saturday night and arrange to have new keys delivered between 8-9 or 10-11. Now I knew I needed them earlier or later because we had ADR for Donalds at 8 am on Sunday. Then he tells me my 7 day water park and more hopper whatever tickets don't start until Sunday with my second reservation. After a few minutes and faxing something somewhere, Tom fixes it and my tickets start now. Thanks Tom!!! Get our keys are are told we are in Trinidad South room 3726. Kind of bummed about this beacause I had requested Aruba or Jamaica and we had stayed in TS on our honeymoon. But I didn't ask to be moved considering the ticket fix and all. It actually turned out great. We had a car, our room faced the parking lot, was right near the bus stop and laundry and quite pool very close, so with the little ones it was perfect.

Boy are the rooms a lot nicer now. I like the fridge and there is so much storage. The beds were super comfy but a little high with the kids. But our luggage fit perfectly under them. Definately get bed rails if you have little guys, the fall would be far. The curtain by the bathroom was nice too, becaue I could get ready early with out letting too much light into the room. The only thing I didn't like was the ceiling fan. It worked fine, just really cheap looking. I'm sure all resorts have this, but it was nice having the bedtime stories for the kids on TV at night, they loved this.

Well I need to start dinner, so I'll start with day 1 at MGM as soon as I get a chance, I just wanted to get started. I've been putting it off for a week.

Great start on your trip report!! Can't wait to read more!! :)

Thanks for the report~ I was there the same time !!!! Cant wait to see the next part!!

I have no idea how to link things or include pictures, we took over 500, so here's more of our report.

It was still pretty hot and humid but we knew that would be changing soon, thanks to Wilma. We had breakfast in OPR. The kids had mickey waffels and myself and DH had bagels. I noticed that everyone seemed to have refill mugs and were for CBR. I was pretty surprised, because last time we were here, people were using anything that held liquid. Not this time. They also had apple juice at the fountains, which was a nice surprise. I thought they only had soda. So off to MGM. As we were entering I noticed I had a card with my name-Adult and two with my DH and DS name (they have the same name) but they both said Adult. I never really looked when we checked in. So when we went to use them, one said it was voided. So we went to Guest Relations. I had my receipt from checking in and noticed that the cards and the numbers on the receipt didn't match. They gave me a pass for my son to use for the day and I was told to go to the front desk to have them fix it when I got back. So we head off to the back of the park to see the little animation tour. This is really cute. There were only like 20 people including kids. SO after we got to meet Chicken Little and Abby Mallard. It was great because the characters were just walking around playing with the kids andtaking pictures. We didn't have to wait in a line and got lots of pictures. Abby is now DD's favorite. Next we went over to Playhouse Disney. BIG HIT!!, again not really crowded. This is a very cute show and a must for anyone with preschoolers. Over to Mickey Avenue and we saw JoJo at the first trailer, no line, Donald Duck at the second, no line and we made it down to Sorcerer Mickey and couldn't believe no people!! My DS walked into the theater and all he saw was what he thought was a statue of Mickey. So did I actually. Then Mickey moved and gave him a big hug. We had Mickey to ourselves for like 5 minutes. The kids loved it. We went over to Pizza Planet for lunch. We knew the kids would like it here. DH and myself brought our own sandwiches in. The kids liked the pizza and of course we had to play some games. Now after lunch at home is when my kids take their naps. This was our first day to see how they'd be out and about. We were hoping for stroller naps as the parks were'nt open too late. So as we were walking we passed Al's Toy Barn. Woody and Buzz were out. We are seeing a lot of characters but there isn't much for the little guys and it's what they were into. Next we went to Honey I shrunk the Kids play area. Great time. But boy was it hot in there and you really have to watch or your can loose track of the kids. It was hot and the kids were tired so we decide to head back to the car. Of course the kids fall asleep on the way and we just put them in the car and drove around and found a Winn Dixie for some things we had forgotten at Taret. When we got back to the resort we just took the kids for a walk and played on the playgroud at the beach.

When we got back to our room there was a message from the front desk that I should call to arrange to have my new keys delivered between 8-9 or 10-11. I call because I want to see how late I can pick them up because we have an early ADR and planned a full day at AK. The person I spoke with said I could have the delivered my 6:30AM, no problem. We went to dinner at the Orlando Ale House. The food here was really good. It was pouring so we just headed back to the room. We stopped at the front desk because I just wanted to have the ticket situation corrected, in case I didn't have my new keys on time in the AM. Good thing I did. Apparently when Tom put my son's name in the system it cancelled out my husbands card because of the same name. This is what they told me.....to me it seemed that Tom didn't make one a child so that was the problem. We're not the first people to check in with family members having the same name. So she takes my old keys and gives me three new ones. Now my son's name is shorter and his card says child. I told her I was going to have new cards delievered tomorrow anyway and she told me they can't be delivered by 6:30AM. So I guess the person I spoke with at the desk was wrong and she said I probably got their call center and they're wrong. OK, glad I stopped. So now I have my second set of keys. I was also told that I'd have to check out and in tomorrow by 11AM, so now I have to come back early because we need to be at AK by 8. Good thing we had a car, because we were in Trinidad South not very close to the front.

Day2--AK....So I'm up early and back at the customs house by 6:30AM, with keys I've had for a few hours. Check-out and back-in and get keys #3. She gives me a receipt and tells me my 7 days park hopper water park and more tickets start today. OK, I've already used one day but we'll see. But we'll see. So we take the bus to AK, because thanks to these boards I know they don't let cars into AK before 8AM. We check in and follow the line to Donalds. I was not expecting too much here because I've read a lot of bad reviews. We were seated in a little room off to the side and our waitress told us just ot stay and all the characters would be in and then to help ourselves. So we waited and all the characters came in. One at a time, it was perfect. The kids got to see everyone, were satisfied and then they ate. I didn't feel rushed the food was OK, and our waitress gave us To Go cups of coffee, even though the coffee in WDW is bad, it was nice of her.

So we were out in the park by 9:15. We were headed to the Safari but got sidetracked. We were passing Tough to Be a Bug and there was no one there. So we decided to give it a try and just told DS to not wear the glasses, so it wouldn't be too intense. They loved looking at all the animal carvings of the tree and again no one in line so we took our time. Once in, we decided to sit in the back and as close to the exit as we could, just in case. DS did not like the stink bug and just kept his head down the rest of the show. DD loved it!! But she's crazy anyway and really likes spooky things and to be scared. I don't recommend this for too many little guys. It's pretty loud and with the special effects can really be scary. DS didn't cry or anything, just didn't want to do the "Bug Tree" again. Again sidetracked on the way to the safari. We came by Flights of Wonder. My kids really like this show. They love animals. If you want to partcipate, have a dollar bill ready! We also saw Baloo and Devine. Watching her is really cool. Everytime we walked the path between Asia and Africa she was there. Next we did Pangini Trails. Still trying to get to Safari. This was fun and we saw gorillas, naked mole rats some other cool animals. Time for lunch so we went to Flame Tree BBQ. Their fruit plate was really good, except for the orange. Which struck my odd considering we were in Florida. Also had the 1/2 smoked chicken and kids had wings. Everything was really good and a nice change from burger and fries. If you eat here or just want a good place to relax, take the path out back on the right and follow it all the way down to the water. No one was there and you have a good view of Everest. The best part while we were there a boat came by with Mickey, Minnie and Pluto in it, kids loved it and we got great pictures.

Finally time for that Safari. I was a little nervous because everything you read says to go first thing in the AM when the animals are most active, and it was hot and humid today, so I was expecting to see much. OH MY GOD!!! Not only did we wait just 10 minuted, but we saw all the animals and some really close. It looked like they were eating lunch. The left side of the truck definately has the better views and my son liked finding the animals on the chart that we were seeing. DD fell asleep right after and as we were walking to Dinoland another Flights of Wonder show was starting. So DS and DH went to see it again. My son really liked this show. So DD and I found a nice spot right across from the entrance by the water. No one was there. Great view of the tree and good spot for a rest. There are so many little quite spots in AK, we really loved this park. Went to Dinoland and DH and DS played in the BoneYard for like 1/2 while DD continued her nap. The parade was starting soon, so we found a great spot 15 minutes before it started. The became one of our favorite parades. Stopped at the Baby Care center for a diaper change and some cleaning up. If I had know how nice this was, I wouldn't have used a restroom all day. This is by far the best baby care center of all four parks. I assume because it's newer, but my son sat and watched Alladin and played with another little boy, while I changed DD and we were there for like 20 minutes. Nice airconditioned place to take a break with the little guys. Took the bus back to CBR and since it looked like Wilma was coming and we had a long day, I ordered Pizza Hut for the kids and DH and I got a club salad from OPR. Pizza Hut came right to the room, can't beat that.

SO far we're having a great time and no crowds....more late

Ok I'll finish now that everyone's napping....

On Day 3-Monday we had nothing planned...good thing because Wilma came for a visit. We woke to pouring rain and a lot of wind. Saw that the parks were closed and also had a note on the door. So since there were no busses running and I really didn't want to drag the kids in and out of the car in the rain. I did McDonalds drive thru for breakfast. We only had snacks and lunch food in the room. It wasn't that bad, it was 6:30AM and kind of eery being on the roads, there were a lot of security around and trucks looking for trees down and stuff. They were playing movies on the TV and at least we got some decent coffee. I don't know why we never just bought coffee to make in the room. We only needed one cup each every morning, but we didn't. I suggest you bring your own!!! Anyway, since there wasn't really much to do, I did laundry. Two loads by 9AM. We were close enough and didn't actually have to spend to much time in the rain back and forth. So we played some games, watch some movies ate lunch and the kids took a nap. By noon, the sun was out and it was as if nothing happened. They opened MK and Epcot at 1, so when the kids got up we went to MK.

Now I luckily knew the weather was going to change. I checked the weather like a hawk before leaving. It got chilly!!! It was a nice change from the humidity, but the water park was out for us, because it wasn't really warm enough till mid-day and then it wasn't really warm enough. We should have hit that the first day. Oh well!!! MK was great. No crowds at all. We did the Jungle Cruise, and on Pirates of the Caribbean we had our own boat. As we were entering the woman said both sides were open. Everyone else went to the right so we went left. If was great and kind of wierd at the same time. Did Small World, kids loved it and it's really nice the changes they made. Phoo's playground was a big hit and a great way to let the little ones run around. Ate dinner at Peco's Bills. Very good and the fixin bar is great. We did Small World again, favorite for DS, Over to Toontown. We went to the store with the characters inside, forget the name. Well the princess line was packed, the middle line had Phoo and Friends and the last just had a picture of Goofy. We picked Goofy, no one was in that line. We got right in and saw Minnie, Gepetto and Goofy. We caught Spectro, walked right up like 15 minutes before started, great spot, only one row in front of us. Wanted to stay and see Wishes, but the kids were done. DS loved fireworks over the 4th, but for some reason wasn't going for it at Disney. Next time!!

Day4--MK Had breakfast at CP. Very good food here and the characters were great. The coffee actually wasn't that bad either, best we had onsite. I'm sure it's all the same but they made it right here. After, we went to Tomorrowland and saw Stitch. Did the Buzz Lightyear ride. That was fun. The kids were too busy looking around so DH and I played. I won!!! I saw the COP was open so we did that. The kids liked the dog. I don't know why but I love this attraction. I like the song, "Now is the time" better. But that's just what I was used to. Decided to do the blue tram, train thing. I've never been on it before. It goes fast sometimes, which I didn't expect. I thought it just went along slowly. It's a neat way to see Tomorrowland. DS wanted Small World again and of course Phoo's playground is right there. On our way to lunch we saw Cinderellabration. Then we ate at Cosmic Rays. The food was good, but I don't like the 3 seperate line thing. DH and I had brought our lunch but if the kids had wanted two seperate things that would have been a pain. After lunch we did Belle's Story time. HOW CUTE!!! This was a nice surprise, I wasn't sure what to expect. The kids enjoyed it. Off the to Indy Speedway. Again, no line, waited maybe 10 minutes. DS was really excited about driving these cars. We let the kids steer, well try and steer. DH did fine helping DS, but me and DD were bouncing off the rail. She did look really cute sitting behind the wheel though and doesn't mind being bounced around. Done just in time for parade. Walked over to Liberty Square and got a good spot next to Hall of Presidents. Cute parade, but AK is still the favorite. Over to Adventure Land and DD fell asleep so I took DS to the Tiki Room. Well this had changed since the last time I saw it. Which was probably 15 years ago. I remember and outside sitting area with some birds that sang. This is a very loud and dark show. Cute show, just not what I was expecting at all. Why is everything so loud?? Of course DS and DH had to do Jungle Cruise again and then we saw Jesse and Woody on the porch of the Diamond Horse. This was the longest thing we waited for. Because they had to break for 5 minutes. Back to ToonTown again. The kids really liked it here and really like the characters. Unfortunately DS won't do rides that spin or go high. So no Dumbo, Magic Carpets, he loved Small World, Jungle Cruise ,Phoo's ride. We didn't do Snow White, because I've never done it and it has the word SCARY in it. Wanted to do Philharmagic, but after "The Bug Tree", DS wasn't going anywhere you had to wear glasses. The park closed at 6 for MNSSHP, so we took the Ferry back and had dinner on the way back to CBR.

Day5---Epcot and some MGM. We ate breakfast in Epcot. The kids had French Toast sticks at the Electric Umbrella and we had bagels from the bakery across the way for it. Got hot chocolate instead of coffee. It was good. The pastries in there looked really good. We did Journey into Imagination first. This is nothing like I remember. I knew they changed it, but I didn't like this at all. I don't like the new song and the play area seems less. Both DH and I wanted to try Test Track so we each did single rider lane while the other stayed with the kids at the exit. This is really nice because the kids can color and be kept entertained. It only took us like 30 minutes to both ride. We were going to do the Land, but 45 minutes seemed a little long for the kids. So we went over to Morocco to find Jasmine. DS loves her. Well after being told different times and waiting 45 minutes, no princess' were in Epcot that day. The times guide said 12:30-4, and diffferent CM's said like 5 minutes, 10 minutes, finally I had one call to find out. I should have done that in the first place. So if you really want to see someone have them call to find out or check with Guest Relations when you get to the park. That way no expectations go up in flames. So we took the boat over to MGM. We did Playhouse Disney again and saw Mike and Sully. My DS loves them, but wouldn't you know it, wouldn't go near them. DD went up twice. They are really big. We have cute pictures of them towering over her. Just in time for another parade so we were right in front of the hat. Great spot, not more than 15 minutes before it started. Again cute, but love AK. Took the boat back to Epcot on the way stopping at Beaches and Cream. Heard they had the best burgers. They were good, but nothing I would make a point of coming back for. Our waitress though was the best and the ice-cream was good. Back to Epcot. The kids weren't into much so we just headed back to the room.

Day6--AK again and Epcot. We got here on time to see the opening. VERY CUTE, kids loved it. This time we went right to the Safari with everyone else, but only waited maybe 10 minutes if that. While this was good, the first one was soooo much better. We saw a lot of animals, but they were closer and more on the first one. 1PM is the time for me. We ate breakfast at Tusker House. Really good cinnamon buns hear and the kids had cereal. Next off to Rafiki's Planet watch. Again, we're animal people so this was great. We saw Rafiki and Stanley and the little petting are was cute. They had brushes for the kids to use on the 500 goats walking around. DS also encountered the talking trash can. He still talks about it. It told him it was Pushes grandmother. Very cute. After a long week, the kids were tired so we went back to the room and we also had 5:30 ADR for Chef Mickey. CM was a lot of fun, the kids like twirling their napkins and that their food was at their level on the buffett. We saw Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald Duck and Chip and Dale. The food was really good, especially the parmesean mashed potatoes. Our waiter wasn't bad, but wasn't anything special either. He didn't something to the people next to us because they didn't tip him. So after we went over to Epcot, via the longest route to drive there. When we left CR I just followed the signs to exit, but we seemed to really go out of the way, but passes a lot of resorts I've never seen before. DH rode Mission Space and said it was awsome, not for me. I really wanted to do Soarin' and should have but didn't, figures I'd do it on the way out. The was EMH and it was open till 12. We got a spot around the Odyssey building for Illuminations, DS woulnd't go any closer. Not the best spot of course but we could see some. Used the baby care center here. AK has the best hands down!! So after Illuminations there is this mass exit of people. We stay put as the masses disperse. Well after that we had World Showcase to ourselves. Which was fine by me because I love the countries at night. DD feel asleep and DS got a mask in Mexico and we were off. My husband soon figured out that Food and Wine also included BEER. So I grabbed some sangira and he drank his way aroudn the world and DS made a mask. We had the best time. DD slept the whole time and DS just wanted to get to the next country to see what they had to add to the mask. We were done around 11 and DS was very excited to have finished and get his poster. On the way out we went by Soarin'...50 minute wait and people were still coming to get in line. It was too late so I missed it. I should have done it earlier, but we had a great night so no complaints.

Day7--Last day. So I decide to let DH and DS sleep in and grab DD and go off to find decent coffee. Again, should have just went to the store and bought some to make in the room, but I was feeling adveturist. MY BAD!! You really shouldn't go exploring in a town you're not that familiar with. We got lost. This one road just turned into a huge highway, right out of the blue. Anyway, after stopping for directions, boy did I look like and idiot, we made it back with good coffee and breakfast. I did see some really nice homes a long the way, but why are the backyards screened in....bugs???

So off the AK again, I know 3rd time. We loved this park and still can't see why people dismiss it. Of course we had to do Flights of Wonder again and Dinoland. The plan was to eat lunch and then head over to MK for some last favorites. Well after lunch we got in the car and the kids fell asleep. We should have just gone to MK and let them sleep in the parking lot for a little bit. But we took them back to the room. Well three hours later, they work up and MK was closing at 6. We didn't buy tickets for MNSSHP because I wasn't sure how the kids would have been with it. DD likes spooky halloween, but DS is a little scared of some things and I didn't want to ruin MK for him, so we decided to play it by ear when we got there. Well while they were sleeping and realized we weren't getting in there unless we had tickets I tried in vain, but it was sold out. Friday night before Halloween, of course it would be, but we tried. The kids didn't know, so after they got up we went to DTD. Had dinner and then went to Disney Quest. This was fun, but really needs an update in the little kids section at least. It looks like you used to be able to win tickets and get prizes but now it's just free play and no tickets. The kids had a good time. Went back to World of Disney and what a zoo!!! DH took the kids to the legos and I did some speed shopping and saved 10% by showing my Disney Visa. Went home packed and that's it....very sad leaving.

I have to say this was the best vacation we've ever taken. We always do a week at the beach and little day trips, but it's always with extended family. This was just the four of us, and we had a great time. People thought we were crazy for taking the kids while their still young. I can't tell you how many times I almost cried because of their reactions to things. It was priceless. While we didn't do a lot and missed a whole lot, we took our time, did what the kids wanted and have even more reason to go back. We got the 7 day hopper with everything because we didn't want to be limited and had planned on a water park, the weather just didn't work out that way. It was worth it. We ate CS because it just seemed easier with the kids. It really was the best time and love all the pictures and memories we have. Plus I just got my DVC info in the mail yesterday, now I just have to convince DH it's a good thing to buy into. We'll see!!

So glad you enjoyed yourselves and didn't listen to other people about the kids. Whether they remember or not, you will and your memories are just as valid. It sounds like those dates were a good time to go as well which is good news for me, as this is exactly when I'm going next year.

Thanks so much for the great report,
Claire xx

I enjoyed your report! We also love AK a lot too. I also don't get why people sometimes don't enjoy it as much as we do. Sounds like you had a great trip!

Enjoyed reading your report ~ Thanx for posting.

So glad to hear this was your best vacation! I'm getting more nervous as it gets closer with the kids, unsure as to we are taking them too young! I just have to remember we won't be able to do as much and to take our times, hopefully lines won't be long! Great report and thanks so much for doing it!

Amy

Glad you all had a great time! You did it just the way you're supposed to with that age children. I'm taking my granddaughter who'll be 2 for her first trip and hoping it goes as well!

I love hearing "best vacation ever"! We spend so much time planning and dreaming, it's rotten when they are anything less. Congratulations!

And I agree about taking the little ones. I took my DD3.5 and she didn't appreciate a lot of it, but she was awed by the characters and the younger rides - and when we went a year later, she fully knew what to expect.
