WDTC says sold out! How do I get the room I want?

Okay - the rooms I want are currently "sold out" per WDTC. I have a reservation on the FTP but I'd like to change, and WDTC says no availability for the particular resort(s) I want. I have seen plenty of messages from people saying they were successful in getting what they wanted by repeatedly calling WDTC. If you are one of these people who perservered and got what you wanted, how often did you call? Is there a better time of the day to do this?

If I don't get the change that I want by June 29, the end of FTP, will I basically be in the situation of using my current reservation or losing my FTP? In other words, say the rooms come open that I want on July 3. If I want to change my reservations after 6/29, will I lose the FTP?

Yes, basically you have until June 29. I would call at least twice a day because people are cancelling all the time.

You may want to make a request to Dreams Unlimited and see if they have any room availability for your time at your resort for the FTP package. If they do book it and cancel the other.

For some reason, I have better luck calling late in the evening.

I have literally been told something is sold out and called back 5 minutes later and it was available.

I have also seen no availability with the FT package and then availability for the exact same room with CRO, go figure.

Can you change your dates by a day or two? Sometimes this opens things up.

floridafam - How late in the evening is WDTC open? I'm on eastern time. After mulling it over for most of the morning, I concluded that I really want to stay in the MK area if possible.

i agree with contacting a travel agent. they were able to get me a room last year when cro had repeatedly said no.

I called yesterday afternoon to book 2 rooms at the Contemporary for 5 nights. They didn't have any rooms for the first night I wanted, but they did have the 4 nights available. So I booked the 4 hoping 2 rooms would open up for that first night. I took a chance and called them back this morning and much to the CM's surprise 2 rooms WERE available. Yeah!! So of course I took them. My plan was to call every day until I got what I wanted.

I tried to book the FTP at POR for 7 nights and they said "no availability" several times. I went to the website 3 times a day for 2 weeks until I found availability at POR for the dates I wanted and then called immediatley to CRO to book.

I believe they are open until 11pm. I am also on eastern time.

I also think calling a travel agent is a good idea. They may be able to get you the reservation when WDTC says no and it wouldn't cost you any more than what you would pay through Disney, right?

Let us know what you find out but I would call a travel agent today or do a quote through Dreams Unlimited. You might be surprised.

Thanks to everyone for the advice so far. I took the suggestion that some of you made and submitted a request for a quote through Dreams Unlimited. In the meantime, I guess I'll keep calling.

It is exasperating to see rooms available on the Disney website for the same dates I want that are not included in the FTP link ...

I believe they only set aside a certain number of rooms at a "special" rate such as FTP and when they're gone, they're gone. Do I undestand you are trying to get rooms for 7/3 and going forward? 4th of July is a VERY busy time in the parks. While I would take the suggestions about calling again and trying Dreams Unlimited, I wouldn't feel too badly about not getting a certai resort. the 4th can be a killer.

My week is actually at the end of October (10/25-11/1), which is also the end of the FTP.

I checked the Disney website every day, and called every 2-3 days. When I finally got the discount to apply (already had reservations), I honestly thought I was going to be moving our group from BCV to BWV, but I tried for BCV first and it went through.

I think the WDW computer system actually flushes cancelled reservations overnight. Call first thing in the morning - I have always found rooms then, more so than at night.

We have room only booked for Aug 9 nts. at all star movies. I called the other day to get prices to change to FTP. i thought it was funny because he told me "we have FTP for 8 nts" but not the 9 nts. I was like ok. then I was thinking about adding another room, cause dd14 and friend could have their own room. So im still confused cause i would save a little by booking FTP but i would have to get trip ins. in case we didnt go. Where as room only you would only lose 1 nt. So i also was trying to get maybe a studio at OKW he said nothing left. I misunder stood , i thought FTP was only for value resorts. So i dont think we will be able to get a studio or suite , without spending much more $$$$$ than i want. So i have to decide 2 rooms at Movies , or 1 room with FTP. cause i think 2 rms with FYP would be to much. Oh such decisions. lol But i will call this week end just to see if there is anything else we could get ,either studio or 2 rooms.?? Do you guys think we should do 2 rooms, cause then 2 bathrooms with teens would be better.....

I wanted to upgrade my FTP to the concierge level at the YC and was told in the morning it was not available. I called later that night and it was available!

I think two rooms with teenagers is definitly a good idea, if it is in the budget. Especially when it comes to the bathroom!

Hi, I too was in the same Boat as you; and it is so frustrating! I had ressies at CBR for the CAn at Par special but really wanted FTP for a savingsof about $400. I tried the website umpteen times a day, tried DU and phoned twice a dayto WDTC but no luck for a week! Finally this morning FTP available for 5 or 6 of July, I jumped on it. Decided to add two more nights, but Can at Par rate only good on min of 3 nights BUT then she told me that the Yacht club was available at $179.00 , I took that too! It'll be a fun way to end our vacation at a resort we could never normally afford to go!! Good Luck and keep trying!

Well, I got a response from DU and no good news. I didn't get a chance to call yesterday or yet today due to a sick kid. Seems like persistence has paid off for a lot of you.

I was trying to get the Contemporary at the end of October too and nothing is available (except super expensive concierge rooms). What gives? Why is that place full???????

I think Contemporary full because it is still filling in for SOG right now.

Keep trying every morning to call. I think midweek is a better time to call. A lot of people reserve on the weekends (when they have more time to call). Their deposits are due 10 days later, usually on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Wednesday and Thursday mornings seem to have more cancellations.
