WDTC reservation upgrades ?

My booking for POR was changed to the WDTC, as I applied Disney club discount. If I decided to pay for an upgrade to a deluxe hotel just prior to my stay would I be charged a penalty fee for this ???
I am so fed up with the POR saga that I have decided if they dont call to offer us an upgrade, I am going to upgrade us to AKL.
I want to stay at POR when it is at its best, not when its only at 75% its normal magic.

I'm not sure if this is the same or not, but I've recently upgraded my initial FT package from GV GF to GF lodge concierge and wasn't charged. Now, I'm only at the deposit stage (haven't paid the whole amount yet) , so maybe this makes a difference.

Looking at it logically, I can't see why they would charge a penalty fee for you to spend more money with them! Maybe if you were downgrading, but I really can't see them charging a fee to upgrade (over and above the extra $$ you're spending)

Anyhow. I have decided to stay at AKL from Sep 9-Sep 21, GF (I have PAID IN FULL!) Sep 21-23, offsite villa 4 bed -for Universal, Busch Gardens, Seaworld, 23-30)

I made my November reservation thru WDTC but after reading the cancellation and change policy, called back and changed it to CRO. I'm sure some codes will come up that will be better than the DC discount.

When booking through DC you have the 5 day cancellation policy and changes or modifications made 21 days or less before arrival will incur a $10.00 fee. ~~
