So next week is time for turkey day reservations. Who has eaten at whispering canyon on this day? How was it? I was hoping for their regular menu but saw that last year was a special menu. Any feedback! Thanks!!!

We've gone there twice on Thanksgiving, both times for lunch. They serve everything in a big skillet for everyone at the table to share. If you want more of something you just ask for it. We were served pumpkin pie at the end of the meal. Both times the food was very good, just what you'd expect for a "traditional" Thanksgiving meal.

My family would have gone there again last Thanksgiving, but I wanted to try somewhere else. We chose Olivia's at OKW, which is very different from WCC. At Olivia's they serve your meal individually plated. The servings were huge. Again, pretty much what you'd expect for a "traditional" Thanksgiving dinner. ::MinnieMo

Do they offer the regular menu as well as the Thanksgiving dinner? If not, I guess it is a set price. Do you remember the price? Can you give some examples of "traditional" meal as I know it can vary by region. What I am really asking is if there are sweet potatoes or only mashed potatoes? Also, can you get something beside pumpkin pie for dessert? Even a scoop of ice cream? Not too many pie lovers in our group. Thanks!

We had Thanksgiving dinner there last year, and didn't care for it. Everything comes on a huge platter, and the food gets mixed together. The turkey had the consistancy of bad deli turkey - like processed meat. We had 7 people in our party and no one liked the food.

I don't recall if they served the regular menu as well on Thanksgiving. I'm thinking they did, but I'm not 100 % sure. Yes, it is a set price for the Thanksgiving meal, but I don't remember exactly what that was. The meal had turkey (very nice slices of real turkey), stuffing, potatoes with gravy, green beans, rolls, cranberry sauce, but I don't think there were sweet potatoes. I think there may have been a 2nd pie choice, but I bet if you don't care for pie they would work with you for something else. Sorry I can't be more specific but it's been at least a year and a half since we did this. ::MinnieMo

Whoa! This concerns me as Sweet Potatoes are a must! We are also trying for WCC this year as my family loved the regular skillet and wants to try it for Thanksgiving.

This is from All Ears for last year:

Whispering Canyon Thanksgiving (Wilderness Lodge) - Regular menu will not be offered. 1st Course - Fresh Field Greens tossed with Apples, Candied Walnuts, Blue Cheese, Dried Cherries, and Creamy Maple Mustard Vinaigrette Dressing; Entrée - Smoked House Breast of Turkey, Maple Glaze Ham, Oven-roasted Chicken, Traditional Stuffing, Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes, Candied Brown Sugar Sweet Potatoes, Giblet Gravy, Seasonal Vegetable, Cranberry Relish and Corn Bread; Dessert - Pumpkin Pie. Children - Same as above. Non-alcoholic non-specialty beverages are included.

We ate there 2 years ago for TG and had turkey etc on special menu. While it wasn't horrible it wasn't very good.

We has xmas dinner there and it was a traditional dinner, turkey etc. and we like it very much. You can have second helping of everything. I was about $50pp, don't know if they had their regular menu.
