So are all the other girl friends. We have one ticket left because Ethan doesn't want to go and the mother of the girl Brooke chose won't let her go without her. Now I don't know what to do. I still don't know a lot of the parents so if one of my best friends won't let me take her I'm sure parents I don't even know won't either.

Nan can have Molly down there by Saturday... ;)

Congrats Holly and Happy Birthday Shannon!

Tonight is my first PTA sponsored dinner! Yippee!

Welcome to the jungle. Good luck getting anything else done from here on out ;) I don't mean to scare you away :flower3:

that's too bad, you'd think a friend would let you take her daughter. Molly went with a friend and I was sad that I wasn't invited too, but no way would I NOT let her go. Hope you find a friend to take.:thumbsup2

You're probably right.....I really had not thought of it. I guess I don't consider extreme sports as something that I would want to do. I prefer Disney. But you're absolutely right that there are more and more people interested in high adventure.

I can't believe you have been dog sledding and loved it. Nan, you never cease to amaze me. You are living quite the fully enriched life.....you GO girl!

Yes... and I always say that it really doesn't take much to make it homemade...

;)

Sometimes all it takes is PACKAGING! :thumbsup2

I knew a lady who bought cookies from the bakery part of the grocery store, took them home, put them in her Tupperware and took them to the event. When people raved about them and asked for the recipe, she said it was a family secret and she had promised her Grandma to never give it out. :rotfl:

Oh, one more thing before I fall asleep. Tomorrow WILL be a better day because I get to GIVE MY NOTICE! I got a new job as a legal assistant and they want me to start no later than Oct. 1. I'm HORRIBLY nervous because I've only had one office job ever, the one where I've currently been for almost 4 years. So I'm horrified at leaving that comfort zone where I know how to do everything. I'm terrified of the extra duties I'll have at the new job that I've never done, like keeping the attorney's calendar for him. BUT.....no environment can be as bad as the one I'm leaving, so I suppose I'll be fine. And even if I hate the new job and screw it up so badly they don't want to keep me, the old job will take me back immediately because they always, always, always try to ask former employees to come back. In fact, about 2 years ago I got a job somewhere else making $2/hour more, and my current employer offered me more to STAY. I accepted because I was afraid of leaving that comfort zone. This time if they offer, I won't stay because I'm just burned out and need change.

AND....I'll have vacations! Sure, I was just given that perk where I am now, but I can't use until a year has passed. The insurance is better where I'm going because the plan at my current employer has a $2500 deductible per year (and they haven't started it for me yet anyway). The current job was going to give me one week vacation starting next year, but the new job is giving me 12 days for years 1-3, 15 days for years 4 & 5, and 21 days for 6 years and beyond. Only 50cents/hour more to start, but another $1/hour added to that after 90 days, so that will be $1.50/hour more total.

Oh, my :thumbsup2 GOODNESS, HOLLY! That is great :yay:

Keep us posted. I am sure you will do a wonderful job.

Because I'm so nervous about the new job, I'm trying to forget about it for a couple days. But they're not able to work around my schedule with Tyler's stuff because they're a smaller firm, only 5 lawyers (interviewing for a 6th), so I have to figure all that out this week and then sign Tyler up for the before and after school care. I'm sad about losing about 3 hours with him 3 days a week. :sad1: Losing our playtime together before bed too because now when we get home each night it will probably be his bedtime right after we eat dinner. :sad2: It's just a hard thing for me to accept, but I guess we'll have the same schedule most parents do. Good thing is that he's used to doing that at his dad's, and he told me he really loves the after school care because they get a snack right after school and usually get to make a craft project or play outside or something different each day. The way he said it was, "You never know what fun's going to happen there!" ;) We'll just have to make our little bit of time on Saturday evenings and our Sundays extra special somehow.

:thumbsup2 Good attitude! You will make it work or you will find different work. Either way you have something new to try and a change from the rat race that was spinning you into a :headache: pit.

Don't be surprised if the first couple months are EXHAUSTING! ::yes:: that happens with new jobs. Just take it slow, sleep a lot, don't stress over being behind on housework or DIS and you will be fine!

Jan

Hi Nan.....how's the diet and boot camp going? Are you sticking with it? Are you still crabby? It's so doggone hard isn't it?

I've been craving an ice cream sunday for a couple of weeks now, but I'm waiting until I'm on vacation in FL before I get one. I figured that I'll be off the diet then anyway, so why ruin it now. I plan what and when and where I'm going to cheat. Then I wait for it and it's so much more enjoyable and satisfying. Then I'm cured for a while. It works for me.:lmao:

AND
in planning for it, you probably make some accommodations for it too, maybe without realizing it. :yay:

Ok here's my dilemma. My best friend's daughter wants to go. She is two years older than Brooke and I don't think they play together when we are all together because we have friends that have kids Brooke's age and this girl's age. This is my best friend since jr high and she really wants her daughter to go. I would like to take someone that Brooke would have more fun with. This girl is really mature, even for her age and then she is two years older. I can ask a friend at school that she plays with sometimes but not a lot. I know the mom and I'm pretty sure she would let me take her. I just feel bad because the other girl is my best friend. I already told her we couldn't take her no matter what but I could tell her I can take her. I feel really bad. I don't think she would take Brooke if the situation were the same because she has a lot of friends her age that would probably go.

What should I do?
