Actually Marilyn, we both enjoy the time that we share in the car on the ride. We're used to doing it at least twice a year, sometimes more. John likes driving, he hates flying. He could drive day and night every day and not think twice about it. John likes to sing to pass the time by if we're not engaged in a conversation. He used to sing in chior as a child and still enjoys it. He also knows that if he's about to get tired, he'll pull over and we'll take a hotel room wherever we are.

On the way down, we're both excited and talking away. On the way home, I'm usually so tired out that I just sleep and then when I wake up we're home.

I can understand the bit about being in the car together actually.:)

We did drive to the south of France quite a few years towing a caravan. Twice we did it in 24 hours, much of the driving done at night when it was quieter, but then we decided to have a night's sleep on the way. John used to enjoy driving, but it is just too busy these days and that pleasure has gone.

Good morning Ladies!

Deb - good to see you back on a regular basis. Can't believe I get to see you in just over 1 week.....it'll be loads of fun! I thought of you & John yesterday as I was at the Fedex Kinkos that's at the strip mall across from the Staybridge.

Monica, sooooooo good to feel almost human again. I know you can relate.

Yea, you're seeing cousins, Connie and Gydell, Sister and kids, Me and John and Lisa and Darrell.......I would say that you are one busy lady.....but, oh what fun you're having!

Don't forget to keep in mind that when we do a dinner date, maybe at Fridays again, we can always add on a swim and hot tub if you're interested. Just keep it in mind.

It'll be fun and I can't wait.
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

It's usually very carefree and easy. Much unlike the plane ride we took to get home from Vegas. That was a horrible experience and I used to like flying.

I used to love driving from where I lived in MD to WDW. It would take me 14hrs until I hit Orlando (including stops for gas/wc/food). I would hit my cruise control button, crank up the tunes & sing....luckily no one was usually in the car w/ me so I didn't bother their eardrums :lmao:

Nan, it's not just snow mobiling.....it's a snow machine (different) race in subzero weather with white out conditions that takes 8 days!!! I wouldn't want to do it!

Here's info on the Dog Sled race on the same trail:

Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, usually just called the "Iditarod", is an annual sled dog race in Alaska, where mushers and teams of typically 16 dogs cover 1,161 miles (1868 km) in eight to fifteen days from Willow to Nome. The Iditarod began in 1973 as an event to test the best sled dog mushers and teams, evolving into the highly competitive race it is today. The current fastest winning time record was set in 2002 by Martin Buser with a time of 8 days, 22 hours, 46 minutes, and 2 seconds.[1]

Frequently teams race through blizzards causing whiteout conditions, and sub-zero weather and gale-force winds which can cause the wind chill to reach −100 °F (−75 °C). The trail runs through the U.S. state of Alaska. A ceremonial start occurs in the city of Anchorage and is followed by the official restart in Willow, a city in the south central region of the state. The restart was originally in Wasilla, but due to climate change the restart was permanently moved to Willow in 2008. The trail proceeds from Willow up the Rainy Pass of the Alaska Range into the sparsely populated interior, and then along the shore of the Bering Sea, finally reaching Nome in western Alaska. The teams cross a harsh landscape under the canopy of the Northern Lights, through tundra and spruce forests, over hills and mountain passes, and across rivers. While the start in Anchorage is in the middle of a large urban center, most of the route passes through widely separated towns and villages, and small Athabaskan and Inupiaq settlements. The Iditarod is regarded as a symbolic link to the early history of the state, and is connected to many traditions commemorating the legacy of dog mushing.

The race is the most popular sporting event in Alaska, and the top mushers and their teams of dogs are local celebrities; this popularity is credited with the resurgence of recreational mushing in the state since the 1970s. While the yearly field of more than fifty mushers and about a thousand dogs is still largely Alaskan, competitors from fourteen countries have completed the event including the Swiss Martin Buser, who became the first international winner in 1992.

The Iditarod received more attention outside of the state after the 1985 victory of Libby Riddles, a long shot who became the first woman to win the race. Susan Butcher became the second woman to win the race, and went on to dominate for half a decade. Print and television journalists and crowds of spectators attend the start at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and D Streets in Anchorage, and in smaller numbers at the checkpoints along the trail.

It sounds just like us on the road. We make it to Jacksonville in 14 hours from PA. Not bad. Then we sleep overnight and wake up refreshed and ready to go.

Oh, one more thing before I fall asleep. Tomorrow WILL be a better day because I get to GIVE MY NOTICE! I got a new job as a legal assistant and they want me to start no later than Oct. 1. .

I'll bet it's getting very pretty in the Poconos right about now! I am going to visit my son at Duke in NC in about a month. I sure hope there is still color on the trees in the mountains. I am going to drive part of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Here's a kitty story for you Jill, I woke up this morning to Ella (cat) acting all kinds of happy and very excited. She brought me a present......a dead baby mouse!!!! EEEEEEEKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

:love:That means she loves you!

We had a big outdoor/indoor Tom and he used to put dead birds on the porch for us! Lovely! BUT, he was a great hunter! Kept all the ground squirrels out of our yard......everyone else complained about how they ground squirrels ruined their lawns, but ours was fine! AND of course, no field mice in the fall either

Well, when you come to my mansion in the woods... :rotfl: I will make you tater cakes... with gravy... & bring V too!!! :cutie: ... :rotfl2:

You live in upstate NY? And you make TATER CAKES? With GRAVY? Sounds like a Southern cook to me! Are you a transplant? :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I have a weird cheese rule, it is ok only on certain things, not potatoes, unless they are skins with bacon. The chesse rule is very hard to understand Paul has been trying to get it for years and no luck.

So you're just weird then? I guess you're better than Bubba, he'll only eat it on pizza.

nite gaylean hope you feel better in the morning, hey did you tell us about work today??? or is that tomorrow???

I started yesterday. I only worked an hour and a half. It should be that way for the rest of the week, maybe longer. I'm thinking of this only as an in to the school district until I take the class I need. It is only a three day class but they only offer it twice a year. I need to call and find out when it is today.

Last night I got all back over 12,000 photos, logo, even :cool1: :thumbsup2 in every pages. Photos all mixed up so look like I have a big job to tidy it up!!

I am pleased now that all photos are there now.

Got phone call that laptop is ready.:yay: :yay:

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: That is the best news I've heard.

Gaylean, congrats on your new job too. How awesome that it finally worked out for you after all the trouble with the fingerprints.

Hope you and Jon and Brooke feel better soon. Glad Ethan is better now.

Enjoy your day at work today.

Thanks. I feel worse today so I have a feeling it is almost over. Brooke couldn't talk this morning so we'll see how school goes. Jon has symptoms but can't seem to get the full blown sickness so he is worried that he'll be sick on Saturday. We are going to see Miley Cyrus in concert.

Hi Gaylean - sorry I missed you last night - I was just doing a drive by.

My sister, BIL and niece are ariving tonight so I had to do stuff around the house. We're going to MNSSHP tomorrow night and spending the weekend at WDW.

That sounds like fun. I have a question for you. Is it a necessity for you to live by one of the Disney resorts :lmao:

Hi Bubba, Hi V.....before I lost mom, I had asked her to write down some of my favorite recipes for me. She couldn't do it. She said, "you put some of this in until it looks like that and then you add something else until it tastes like that." So I have NO written recipes. At least she did SHOW John how to make Greek soup and Stuffed Grape Leaves.....two staples that are my absolute favorites.....he just does't make them as often as she did and she would always give me a doggie bag.

That's how I measure things too. It makes it hard to count points when you're already full before you sit down to dinner :lmao:

Deb

We are going away for one week.

We are going to different hotel which near the beach:cool1: :yay:

We had been in Tenerife 06 and it was great times and the kids loved it.

Keith told me that his favourite holiday is Disney Cruise. :thumbsup2

Scottishwee35

Brooke wants to go for her birthday some day since we went for Ethan's but her birthday is in August. I don't know what I'll do if we go for his birthday again :scared1:

Catch up post before heading back to read 10+ pages.

Nan - I need to see you too....so we will make it happen. :goodvibes

Met up w/ Gydell, Connie & Gydell's friend last night for the Hoop-de-doo Review. Carolyn & my 1st time.....cheesy but funny :lmao: I did get some pics that I will try to post tonight. Food was yummy too.

Thanks for all the notes about feeling better. I am thankful that I am feeling better too.....still not where I need to be, but better than where I was 1 month ago - I go back to dr in November.

That sounds cheesy. How is everyone doing? We don't hear from them much.
