John... I'd do the NY/Erie Canal for you, but that would involve breaking a sweat... ;)

Holly always back everything up... Kodak doesn't save past 6 months...
Sure they do, I just checked and my oldest album on there is 8/22/05. My last trip to Vegas! :thumbsup2 It's just a few months that disappeared recently. Strange.

OK, photobucket is pissing me off. I had this problem a couple nights ago too.....the page won't load. At the bottom of the screen, it says "Waiting for......" and then it flashes "Done" and back to "waiting for" and so on. :headache:

OK, this is strange. March, April, and June just showed up on my computer, but they weren't there before when I looked. The only pictures I took in May were the cruise, so July & Aug must be hiding somewhere too. Not sure what the heck that was all about. Might have something to do with the system restore I did back to June something, even though that's not supposed to affect pictures and saved documents. Have I mentioned how much I hate computers?

Hey Nan... Glad you had a good day...

Tell SPEED we're proud of him!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

So what did you really think of it??? :lmao:

Oh come on... you need to tell us so we don't have a crazy hallucination one night and book the darned thing!!! (Besides... I wanted to know on PV day just what it was like over there....)

(and did they ever fix that rust stain on the starboard side???) Carnival...not US!!!
No rust spot is still there. We do have a pic from the tender in Cabo I will post.

Ok...well to sum up the reasons I would not cruise again on Carnival....

Crew...Not very friendly or helpful. I know some on the DIS have made comments about the language barrier. But I have never experienced this much of a barrier. Other then in the main dinning area and our servers there, it was hard to get anything you ordered correct. They all seemed to either not understand me or had selective understanding. Not sure which. If you needed help with something, it seemed that no one could help and your were sent to another location and would still not get an answer. We did meet a few crew members who were very nice. One bartender who made the best Banana/Strawberry Daiquiri I've ever had. Our cabin steward disappeared half way through our trip, which was not a bad thing as he was not the greatest. But whoever filled in for him(we never met the replacement) was worse. We ordered the morning breakfast and had some splenda spilled on the table, and when he took the tray away while making up our room, he never wiped the table off. There seems to be no attention to detail. I also noticed that there is more crew members who were spending time in the guest area. Cast members out on deck 3 taking smoke breaks, eating in the buffet grill. I was also surprised to see that the Cruise Director was not an officer. This maybe the norm on other ships, but since all my previous experiences are on DCL, and since I just  Brent, it seemed weird to me.

The Ship....I thought it had the most ugliest decor. I will post some pics soon. Again there did not seem to be the attention to detail that you find on DCL. Saw lots of unclean things. Such as up on deck 10 was a coffee cup sitting by a railing that looked like it had been there since the previous cruise if not longer. DCL's deck four equivalent on the Pride is deck 3, but there were no deck chairs, just an open deck. The Pride just does not seem to "flow" well. There seem to be lots of dead ends. Our cabin was fine, we were on deck one. But did hear lots of noise and creaks.

I can't really comment on the kids club, but my impression was that it was not good. It seemed that most kids did not go, as they were all over the ship. Running up and down halls etc. My DBIL did make the comment that it was more like a babysitting service and at some points they did charge for having your child there. I did take my niece to what we thought was a build a bear activity, when in fact all it was was them selling you the bear and the outfits you wanted. There really was not place set up for us to put the bear together. So we just sat on the floor and did it. Sammi did like her bear, but it was not what I expected. Also the area that I did see seemed small, similar to a daycare center. This is just my opinion of this.

The casino I could do with out. spent 10 min or less in there and lost 10 bucks on the slots.

Shows...Nothing like we know on DCL. The only shows we enjoyed were the comedians and the adult shows that they had.

Bingo...we did not play, but did watch a few as we waited for shows to start. They never even came close to this size jackpots that was on our trip. I think the biggest/final was for 5000.

Roomservice.... S U C K E D....and was only available for the first few days as the phone system on the ship went down. Which also caused me not to get my wakeup call for the morning of my dolphin swim. We were rushed, but made it with time to spare.

Weather...not that this is any reflection on Carnival...We did get lots of rain. It rained most of the afternoon in PV, in Mazatlan we hired a private van to do a city tour and take us shopping and were able to get back to the cruise terminal just before the sky's opened and continued to rain the rest of the day. I did get very luck in Cabo, no rain during my dolphin swim, but after we finished the dolphins we were going to do some shopping in town and did not make it very far before the sky's opened up again. it rained on and off the rest of the day.

Food....Not even close to the quality that you get on DCL. When we first boarded the herd you up to the lido deck, mermaids grill, poor quality of food and the whole set up was very chaotic. I think the only good things were the hamburgers, chicken tenders, and the peach soup they had one night at dinner. It was not all really bad, but just not what I expected. And their midnight buffet...that was laughable. It was more then just desserts and some of the things looked just plain gross. I'm not even sure what some of it was.
feel free to ask any questions. I'm happy to share.

Photos....no packages available. The photographers were not very friendly either. We only bought on pic and that was one where you dress up in old west costumes.

Drinks....I have never cruised DCL when they had drink cards, and I'm glad, because I did not like them. No beer mug special to either.

Yeah, What he said.

But I will report on what we did in the ports we visited.

Venetia - were you really that upset over seeing the Magic? Also, was Carnival really that bad? Sukie, said that he won't go on any cruise line but DCL. Not that he knows a lot about other cruise lines, but I did tell him what you and Bubba thought of Carnival.

This fountain was a gift from Santa Barbara. Santa Barbara and PV are sister cities. The artist is a Santa Barbara resident and there is one like this on our waterfront too.

I love the quote.:thumbsup2 The portion control exercise sounds interesting. I love how your WW meetings are about changing how people think about food, not just weigh in, reminder to count points and go home.

I try.

I had a member today (not one of my regulars, but she had missed her Saturday meeting and so came to one of mine), who weighed in and had gained 1.5 pounds. She was pretty upset about it.

I spent some time talking to her and she told me she lost job this past week and so was eating because she was upset.

I asked her if she thought her behavior was any different than it might have been before, meaning would she have in the past, lost all control and gained more that 1.5 pounds in the week?

She said definitely, it would have been worse.

I got her to see that even though it was a horrible week, she had limited the damage and that in a way, gaining only 1.5 pounds was a victory of sorts.

It was great to see the light come on in her eyes, and see that the gain was not the mark of another failure, but the sign of success over past habits in a manner.

I asked her what she wanted to happen this week, and what needed to occur to make that happen.

She walked in really upset and walked out really motivated. She thanked me after the meeting.

It's great when a member consistently loses weight, but I think that a gain can be even more important, because it presents and opportunity to deal with a bump in the road, overcome it and not throw out everything that came before.

I couldn't do anything about her losing her job, but I could help her put her gain in perspective, stop beating herself up, and reframe her behavior for the week to look at it in a more positive light.

Sukie and I were watching a favorite show of his from the 1950's called "The Invisible Man."

I said to him, "So, when he takes his bandages off, he's running around naked?"

Sukie said, "That's right."

I said, "Well, at least no one can see that he has a big butt."

.

And so, to bed with me, dear friends, until the morrow.

Yes I really did cry. And yes I would say Carnval was that bad. My DBIL's GF cruised with us and she cruised on the Wonder in Feb, but has also cruised on other lines and she also did not like Carnival. I can truly say I will not cruise them again, even if it was free. The cost of this trip for the two of us was around 2100.00. I only paid 3200.00 approx for the 15 day Panama. We have to save to be able to take cruises and I would not waste my hard earned and saved money on a cruise of this level. And I will not recommend Carnival to anyone. I also never really felt it was "the fun ship". Well other then when my DMIL,DBIL's GF and myself were judges for the hairest chest contest.:lmao: :rotfl: Now that was funny.:rotfl2:

....Busy weekend - Sophia and I biked a trail on the Ohio-Erie Canal yesterday. We went 16 miles - I was very proud of her!

I am really on page 75 but NEED to hear from Holly so am reading recent posts.

We went to a great Air Show on Saturday.

Good going on the biking! We like to ride on a former RR track now bike trail through downtown Indianapolis named for the RR called the MONON Trail. We usually do about 16 miles too. That is a nice ride.

Someone near Monon, IN has started a RR museum. It is in the middle of nowhere but really neat. Bobby went there.

Ian, I would love to attend one of your meetings. You seem to really care about your members. I did have a really nice surprise in my mail box when we got home today....my favorite WW leader is BACK:cool1: :cool1: I'm so excited and just knowing she will be there on Friday makes the trepidation on weighing in after a couple of weeks off and on the cruise now something I'm looking forward to.
