Sounds like they work for The Mouse! We enjoyed our chats with you all, but never got to "where do you work", "live", etc. What do they do?

Jan :earsgirl:

I don't even have a desk because my house is too small. Well, actually, if I can find somewhere to put the stuff in my bedroom, I could find a corner for a desk. In the meantime, my computer is sitting on my microwave cart in the kitchen and I pull a kitchen chair over to sit. :lmao: Works for now! :thumbsup2

Darrell just set up 2 file cabinets for a makeshift tv stand so I can watch tv while playing on the computer. We don't want to buy a new stand until we find out what our damage claim is going to pay for the one they crushed.

Good idea! How long before you know?

Probably a long time. Right now they won't even call us back to give us the info we need for the claim. So it seems we will have to go through the Navy instead of the carrier and that will most likely take several months.

Could be they aren't calling us back since we gave them a 9 out of 100 on the survey we had to complete withing 7 days of our stuff being delivered! We thought we were being generous as we answered the questions - they probably did not!

Wow, what a hassle you're dealing with.

I think if we move again for the government we will do everything ourselves and then get reimbursed instead of letting them arrange everything. We've moved a bunch of times and have never had so much broken stuff - and heck this is the first time professionals have packed our stuff as well as the truck.

Our friends have done better on beer and pizza then these guys getting paid did!

I just had a brainstorm idea for my bedroom! OK, my bed is one of those twin size ones that has 2 layers of drawers underneath. The drawers are only on one side, so 1/2 of the space under my bed is wasted. I tried having it out from the wall a bit, but it was just too awkward to get around it because the room isn't much longer than my bed, so it was hard to walk around the end of the bed. I was thinking, if I put it in one corner stretching diagonally across the room, I'd still have room at the opposite corner for a corner computer desk, then I'd have the other 2 corners/sides of the room for a dresser and other stuff, AND I'd be able to access the space underneath the bed for storage!

Not sure if I described that right, but I think it will work. Now I need to do some measuring to figure out which corner to have the front of the bed. I think I know and will spend this weekend rearranging! Tyler will love helping with that. He loves moving heavy stuff around and his OT says heavy pushing and pulling is very, very good for his sensory issues. :thumbsup2

And then, behind my headboard, I'll have room for my dirty laundry hamper so that will be out of sight. :thumbsup2

OK, I'm headed back to bed. ;) A couple more hours of sleep would be perfect. Maybe 3 more hours. :cloud9:

MARILYN READ EVERY POST

If she did....she's a better man than I am, Gunga Din! You guys sure had fun last night! :grouphug:

We're currently using a dinette chair at our computer too. .

Me three. And the 'desk chair' is at my craft table/vanity.:confused3

Well, I get to pay bills this morning....but then will do breakfast and a movie with Peg. Then must FORCE myself to go shopping. I need to do a mega Walmart run and hit Catherines to replenish some very worn out garments. But FIRST...I may go back and lie down. :lmao:

.

OK! I drop off the face of the earth for a few months and you folks burn through four threads?:scared1: :scared1:

I could only scan through the last few days of posts, no way I can read all of them. Hope every body is doing well. DEB does keep me up to speed with most of what is going on.

Hi John!!! Sometimes there are only a few posts, sometimes a few pages, and sometimes like last night there are drunken parties going on!!!:lmao:

We're well thanks. Looking forward to all our trips that we have planned. Being old sure has some great benefits!!!!!

Lizard story:

on DEB and my first cruise, 2001, We shared our table with two other couples, that were also doing anniversary's. at the table the night after Castaway Cay, one of our table mates is telling us about this "huge lizard" that kept attacking her, inside her cabana on serenity bay. (her hubby told us it was only one of the tiny little salamanders) well as dinner was ending, our waiter told us that they had a special desert for us all. other wait staff bring in plates for all of us. with the steel covers still on and place them in front of all of us. with much fanfare they pop the covers off at the same time. on her plate is a Little rubber lizard. the squeal she let out brought half of the room to tears of laughter. seems the waiters had told everyone what to expect.

JOHN!

Glad to see ya, buddie! I miss you guys. :grouphug:

Holly, the 1939 movie John references stars Cary Grant and Doublas Fairbanks Jr. and is actually based on the Rudyard Kipling's 1892 poem of the same name. Singer Jim Croce recorded a song in 1966 "The Ballad of Gunga Din" and The Byrds (Gene Parsons) title a 1969 song "Gunga Din". There are actually quite a few musical references listed when I played around on Wikipedia.
