Wilson and Molly had them summer 2006. Their doctor recommended not to take the vaccine as it can give one a false sense of security. I am relieved they have had them in full force. They stayed with a friend (day before they were spotted) whos kids had the shots and those kids both got them, so what's the point?

I saw a kid with them last week at the Boardwalk @ Santa Cruz. It's still out there.

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: This is what scares me to death - people walking around with it. Especially the ones who assume that all adults have had it (several people have said that to me.) One of the nurses we work with told me 2 years ago that at the private school conference she had gone to they did a poll about chicken pox in the schools and they hadn't had one case in any of the schools with CP in almost 10 years. I was shocked. I got the vaccine 13 years ago and there was some speculation about whether I need a booster or not - every doctor tells me a different answer. :confused3

OK everybody, I'm looking for a little help. Tyler's buddy and family are leaving Saturday for 4 days at WDW, then 3 on the Wonder. Mom, Dad, son (6) and daughter (4). The mom, my friend Libby, asked if there's anything I wish I packed but forgot. I told her I can't think of anything, but can you think of anything newbies might want? The kids have never traveled. Mom & Dad cruised on the Wonder about 10 years ago, but nothing since. I told her about duct tape for the closet doors onboard and the over the door shoe organizer for bathroom stuff that some of you folks use. Anything else important that's unique to cruising or WDW?

Blue painters tape or small magnets to post your daily schedules on the back of the door for the whole family. Multi plug for recharging. A lightup clock for the very dark room. extra camera chips. And my favorite thing that we use constantly a door stop. put it in your pocket for the first day boarding and everytime you want fresh air or waiting for the CMs. Plastic baggies for snacks in the room. We made trail mix each morning from the breakfast bar and always had healthy snacks in the room and for excursions.

Then you ruin the navigators and you can't sell them on ebay :lmao:

Get 2 - they are available downstairs!:rotfl2:

No, the fair was the Ventura County Fair.

OOOOO we've been there.

So where did everybody go again? I suppose Michelle is driving back from the lake. Is everybody else watching the Olympics again? OK, we KNOW Kelly is! And probably John1.

I guess I'm just BORED. Am I really the only one who doesn't have a life? :rotfl:

Yes, I was working at my computer for 12 hours with the Olympics on my TV and on my computer - 2 different events, while tivoing in the bedroom and living room. I'm actually getting more work done during the Olympics!

The dentist was able to reattach my veneer....it wasn't damaged so thank heaven I didn't have to spring for a new one! BTW, I LOVE my dentist....he's Dr. No Pain. :thumbsup2
.

Good! I'm getting veneers this year, so I've been curious about them.

OK all you Californian's and East Coasters . . .

Are these really THAT good, or just the latest hype fad?

Beard Papa's Cream Puffs

http://www.muginohousa.com/

Never heard of them, they have cream puffs at Costco, don't know the brand, but they have 24 grams of fat, so I've never bought them. I keep thinking I'll buy them for a special event at some point. :guilty: :sad1:

 You just made my day! :cool1:
I am SO GLAD it went SO WELL!! :thumbsup2

Tell Tyler I would give him a high five it I was there too.
:cheer2: :yay: YAH TYLER :yay: :cheer2:

It is not all the medicine's effect, it is the medicine helping him handle it himself. It gets him over the speed bump. Or slows him down so he can think about what he is doing instead of doing it first and getting in trouble. I could not be happier.

Jan :earsgirl:
That's exactly it. I make a point of reminding Tyler of that, and when he has a good day or a day that he started to lose control and with a teacher's help was able to pull himself back together, I remind him that he's learning how to control things little by little, etc.

He was awfully grumpy yesterday and the day before, and those are the days that usually he has frequent bouts of total loss of control, but that only happened once in those 2 days. Some incident at school, but when I was picking him up for the med check, I heard the teacher talking to him to tell him how proud she was of him for pulling himself back together and not losing control too much.

Oh! Here's something funny: When I dropped him at his dad's yesterday (of course, I watched as stepmom walked out the back door and into the back yard for whatever reason), as I left, I told Tyler to keep up the good work on having good days, he said, "Yes ma'am" and walked away. I said, "Thank you sir", then his dad and I looked at each other with the same shocked look on our faces. Too funny! I told him I'm glad I was near a chair so I could hold myself up and not faint from shock and that I'm not sure what to do with this new Tyler! He laughed and said, "Well, me either, but as long as this is working, that's fine with me!" Then I told him how I did mention to Tyler that it's like we have a new Tyler with us, and I asked him if he feels like a new Tyler and he says he does. :thumbsup2

Ok...before dragging my A$$ to the craft fair... I just wanted to come in and throw off the ENTIRE teen counselor team from Camp Fowler to say...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY IAN!!!!!! party: party: party: :bday: party: party: party: :bday: party: party: party: :bday: party: party: party: :bday: party: party: party: :bday: party: party: party: :bday: party:

Always glad to be of help to newbies!:goodvibes

Now you know why I had to bring that extra suitcase... :lmao:

(Ok... I'm outta here!!!)

We are back from SoCal and it turned out to be a rewarding trip.

My father was released from the hospital on Friday, so he was able to attend the game. His physical recover has been amazing, but his cognitive status is still questionable. He will need to move into an assisted living setting in the very near future. However, he was able to handle all of the hoopla on Saturday night pretty well. It was a little overwhelming, at one point there was said to be a few thousand people in line for his autograph - who would have thunk it - really who would want my dad's signature? He stuck it out until the end. His friends from NASA were in attendance and they treated it as a retirement party. He is officially retired now after 50 years with NASA. He unofficially retired a few years ago, but has been writing a book at Dryden since that time. They presented him with a poster that pictured many of the planes he had flown over the 50 years. One included all of us kids with him by the X-248 (I think). Maybe I could take a picture of it. Below is a article they wrote in the local paper.

Finally, my sister called and told me about this:

We could be rich - we have a whole case of these in our garage now.

Anyway, it's good to have him home.

Such good news! Thanks for sharing. It is always wonderful that he saw so many admirers. :)

Today is one of the 2 days when I actually get to take a lunch, so I'm happy to be able to go for a walk outside! It looks beautiful and isn't supposed to be really hot. Nice! :goodvibes

Muscle also burns more energy than fat. That's why men get more points than women. If you have a man and a woman, each weighing 150 pounds, the man needs more points because the 150 pounds is denser muscle.

Sorry that's just the way it is, but it is also a good reason for muscle mass.

This sounds like men always have more muscle than women.

So

I want to know who thinks this is FAIR. :rotfl:

The differences between men and women aren't fair! In many areas men have it so much easier (peeing the woods!) But women have many other perks - for example, our hearing is generally better for noticing small changes in sounds.

I work in an industrial plant and its interesting how many behaviours are deeply ingrained. Many guys automatically hold doors open for women and offer to help when its women moving heavy panels around. Those are nice examples. Its not so nice, when there's meeting minutes to be taken and the men automatically hand that job over to women. Of course they use the excuse that their handwriting is too messy to read :lmao:

Hi Shannon and Kathe.

Hi Marilyn! We aren't on here at the same time very often! Hi Shannon :) I have to start dinner shortly but had a few minutes and remembered it was Ian's birthday.

My daughter and her husband got back from Mexico the other day and had a great time, they met a couple from Essex and a couple from Flint, Michigan that they enjoyed hanging out with. When I got home from our cruise I really impressed them by going on the outdoor adventure. I told my daughter I thought she might zip-line some day, but no way she'd ever be as brave as me and rappel! Well, first thing out of her mouth when she got home was "Ha! Ha! I went rappeling!!!! (Do they ever grow up ;) )They did an adventure similar to mine but they got to see some ruins as well. She's not sure if she wants to join me on an excursion to the Tulum ruins now on our Western cruise next year, as she's been there and enjoyed the larger ruins of Chichen Itza they went to more.

Kathe

I'm glad she was brave!!! Must be such a good feeling like when you did the rapelling!!! Are they going with you next September then?

Hi Marilyn and Kathe! I've popped on and off a couple times today, its seems pretty quiet today.

Kathe, sounds like you and your daughter could tackle an adventuresome excursion in Sept. :) Maybe eventually I'll try zipline or rappelling - it looks fun, I'm just becoming more of a chicken as I get older.

I wish I had taken the single serving packets of Gatorade or something with electrolytes to balance what I lost by sweating.

I hope they have a good time. We always do, but on an excursion in 2002 we met some people who said Disney was boring as they longingly eyed the Carnival ship also in port. :confused3

They'll have a great time! Mom & dad have cruised (but about 10 years ago) but the kids haven't, so they're really excited about that part.

I'll mention the Gatorade to her. Thanks!
